FaceTite In New Tampa, FL
FaceTite, a radiofrequency device placed under the skin through very small incisions, firms a softening jawline from underneath. In Formation’s neck procedure, liposuction clears fat under the chin first, and FaceTite then tightens the skin over it. There’s no facelift scar and no general anesthesia. It’s done in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, and you go home the same day. Patients return to work and to training at about one week. Formation is in SoHo on South Howard Avenue, about 20 miles from Tampa Palms, and that distance changes how a New Tampa patient should plan the first weeks.
What FaceTite Does, And Where It Stops
FaceTite tightens the tissue that anchors skin to the structures beneath it. A thin probe under the skin delivers radiofrequency energy while an electrode on the surface reads the temperature and holds it inside a set range. The heat contracts the fibroseptal network, the connective tissue between skin and muscle, and collagen keeps rebuilding for months afterward. The FaceTite probe heats tissue. Liposuction, done first through the same small incisions, is what removes the fat.
That makes this a minor surgical procedure, and calling it non-surgical misdescribes what happens in the room. The InMode RF System that runs FaceTite is 510(k)-cleared as an electrosurgical cutting and coagulation device. That means the FDA found it substantially equivalent to a device already on the market. Clearance is a different pathway from approval, so a page calling FaceTite FDA-approved has the regulatory story wrong.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige evaluates every FaceTite patient and performs every case himself. He’s a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery, with more than 15 years of operating experience. He trained at the University of Michigan Medical School and completed a full general surgery residency. He holds fellowship training in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery. Burn surgery trained him in what heat does to living tissue, which is the question every radiofrequency device raises.
The Four-Layer Neck Read
Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once. That’s why two neighbors in Tampa Palms can ask for FaceTite and leave with different plans. Dr. Grandhige reads four layers before choosing a tool, and each layer has its own fix.
Layer One, Fat
Fat under the chin and along the jaw is usually what people react to in photos. Liposuction removes it, and those fat cells don’t return. If the skin sits well once the fat is gone, the plan can end there with no heat at all. For some patients, fat removal is the entire answer.
Layer Two, The Platysma And Platysmal Bands
The platysma is a thin sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate with age, the free borders show as vertical cords called platysmal bands. Heat doesn’t change them, and neither does fat removal. Where bands are present, the fix is a muscle repair: platysmaplasty with MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture. The suture is nonabsorbable, holds from the day it’s placed, and can be removed later, unlike barbed threads that dissolve.
Layer Three, Skin And The Fibroseptal Network
This is the layer FaceTite was built for. Lasers and microneedling work from the surface down and stop short of the fibroseptal network. FaceTite heats that network directly from underneath, and that depth of access is the reason to choose it. Renuvion, a helium plasma and radiofrequency device, works in the same plane and is the other tightening tool Dr. Grandhige uses. In Formation’s neck procedure, tightening follows fat removal in the same visit.
Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Some jawlines look soft because of the bone underneath. A chin that sits back, or a shallow jaw angle, blurs a profile the way fat does, and removing tissue won’t sharpen it. The fix is structure. That means jawline filler placed against the bone, such as Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid. When a patient asks for a superhero jawline, this is usually the layer they’re describing.
The read decides the plan, and the plan decides whether FaceTite belongs in it.
A Mirror Version Of The Read You Can Run At Home
From New Tampa, the first step doesn’t need the drive. You might start with the complimentary virtual evaluation with Hanna. Or you might go straight to the fee-based in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige. Either way, run four quick checks at a well-lit mirror first. The checks are no substitute for an exam, but they give the first conversation something specific to work from.
- Pinch the tissue under your chin with your head tipped slightly forward. A thick, soft pinch points to layer one, fat.
- Clench your teeth and pull the corners of your mouth down hard. Vertical cords standing up on the front of the neck point to layer two, platysmal bands.
- At the side of your neck, lift a small pinch of skin and let it go. Skin that settles back slowly, or creases while you’re still, points to layer three.
- With your phone at eye level, take a straight side-profile photo. A chin sitting well behind your lower lip points to layer four, the frame.
Take one front photo and one profile photo in daylight and bring both to the call. Two clear photos tell more than a paragraph of description.
What The 2024 Study Measured, And What It Didn't
A 2024 prospective series in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery followed 80 consecutive patients who had radiofrequency-assisted neck liposuction between 2016 and 2023. The study reported an average reduction in submental length of 23 millimeters at six months, recorded with a tape measure at one and six months.
Three limits belong next to that figure. All 80 patients came from one author’s private clinic. The protocol combined neck liposuction, FaceTite and buccal fat pad excision, so 23 millimeters describes a combination of procedures. And the paper reports one treated group with no comparison arm, so it can’t separate the device’s share of the change from the other steps.
Treat the finding as a direction. A measurable change in the line under the chin is a fair expectation, and that exact figure isn’t a forecast for your neck. We go further into the evidence in our post on whether FaceTite improves the jawline.
Who FaceTite Isn't For
FaceTite suits mild to moderate laxity in skin that still has some spring. That generally means a skin age of roughly 25 to 55, which can differ from the age on your license. Outside that range, the read changes.
Skin that hangs at rest needs to be removed, and no amount of heat shrinks it enough. Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do excisional work well and points those patients to the right one. Platysmal bands need muscle repair. A soft jaw caused by a recessed chin needs structure. Heavily sun-damaged skin returns a smaller result, and you’ll hear that at the consultation, before anything is booked.
Sometimes the right plan uses less. One Formation patient, a professional in his 40s, said his neck and jawline made him look heavier and older than he felt. He’d always looked that way. The area never answered to weight loss, even though he was fit, and he hated how he looked in pictures. His plan was neck liposuction with jawline contouring, deliberately light on skin tightening. Afterward, colleagues told him he looked rested and energized. He felt his face and neck finally matched the rest of his body, and now he smiles more and gets in pictures.
When A FaceTite Result Disappoints
Disappointing FaceTite results tend to follow three patterns, and each one can be headed off before procedure day.
The first is the wrong layer. A patient with bands or a recessed chin gets heat, the skin tightens, and the problem they saw in the mirror is still there.
The second is the calendar. Swelling hides the change early. Liposuction results show at two to four weeks, tightening shows around three months, and the final result takes six to nine months. Judged at week three, a good result can look like a failed one.
The third is recovery. Dr. Grandhige puts the split at roughly 60 percent procedure and 40 percent aftercare. That’s the 60/40 Recovery Standard, and skipped garment hours or a summer of unprotected sun can undo clean work.
When you look through the before-and-after gallery, compare patients whose starting point resembles yours.
The Drive From New Tampa, And When To Book It
Formation has no New Tampa office. The practice is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in SoHo, about 20 miles from Tampa Palms. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, and the number is (813) 922-2920.
One common route takes Bruce B. Downs Boulevard south to Fletcher Avenue, then Fletcher west to I-275. From there, I-275 runs south through the downtown interchange with I-4 to Exit 42 for Armenia and Howard. Armenia runs one way south from the exit, so the last stretch is Armenia down and a short jog east to South Howard. Commuter traffic on I-275 runs heaviest southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening, the same direction you’re driving each time. Booking between late morning and early afternoon avoids both peaks.
Procedure day needs a driver. The oral sedative rules out driving yourself, and the ride north is long in a fresh chin garment. Formation has relationships with hotels near the practice for patients who’d rather stay close. Dr. Grandhige sees those patients at the hotel in the first days, so they don’t have to come into the office.
After that, plan on several trips south. Follow-up visits are scheduled through recovery, and Dr. Grandhige follows every patient for a full year.
Back On The Bruce B. Downs Trail At One Week
Back to training at one week covers the gym, the trail and the bike. The chin garment stays on 12 to 24 hours a day through that stretch. In the early weeks, swelling and garment comfort set the pace.
Two paved routes matter here. The Bruce B. Downs Trail runs seven miles of asphalt along the east side of the boulevard. Flatwoods Park is a county wilderness park of pine forest and cypress swamp. There, a two-mile paved extension runs from Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to a seven-mile paved loop. Both keep you in full sun for long stretches.
A cap brim shades your forehead and nose. From mid-morning through late afternoon, the sun comes in at an angle that reaches the front of your neck. That’s the same skin that’s rebuilding collagen for months. Sunscreen along the jawline and down the neck, reapplied, protects that work. Heat is the other problem, because a chin garment under a helmet strap gets uncomfortable fast. For the first two weeks, ride at first light, when UV is lowest and the air is coolest.
The Weeks Before Procedure Day
Preparation starts before procedure day. Your health and diet are assessed before treatment. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are then adjusted in the window immediately before and after, so your body builds the most structure it can while it heals. Protein intake, inflammation control and lymphatic flow are dialed in as part of the plan from the start.
That preparation is the same for every FaceTite in Tampa patient, whichever neighborhood they drive in from. Dr. Grandhige writes every plan himself. He limits how many procedures he performs, so he stays involved from the first visit to the last follow-up.
Every practice that offers FaceTite buys the same instrument. The thinking around it is where they differ.

Not every patient who wants surgery is ready for it.
One patient came to Dr. Gopal wanting a tummy tuck. Over the next 18 months, she returned multiple times, having lost more weight each time. And each time, the answer was still no.
Not because she couldn’t have the surgery, but because she wasn’t where she wanted to be yet.
Instead of rushing into surgery, the focus was on helping her reach a healthier, more sustainable weight through nutritional counseling, lifestyle support, and medical weight management.
By the time she had lost 80 pounds, she was ready, both physically and mentally.
For Dr. Gopal, being a good surgeon isn’t just about knowing how to perform a procedure. It’s also about knowing when not to perform one.
Sometimes the best result starts long before the operating room.

Six hours. Hundreds of decisions.
High-definition liposuction is as much about precision as it is about technique.
Dr. Gopal can spend 6–7 hours on a single HD liposuction procedure, carefully evaluating the body’s anatomy, refining muscle definition, and making sure each contour transitions naturally into the next.
And that level of attention doesn’t change as the hours go by.
Because the final result is shaped by hundreds of small decisions made throughout the procedure.

This is not your typical liposuction. 👀
Most people think liposuction is simply about removing unwanted fat. But high-definition liposuction takes a different approach.
Before surgery, Dr. Gopal carefully maps out the patient’s natural anatomy, marking the chest, abdomen, and waist to guide where fat will be removed and where it should be preserved.
Why does that matter?
Because removing fat evenly isn’t necessarily going to create definition. HD liposuction uses strategic fat removal to highlight the underlying muscle structure and create a more sculpted, athletic appearance.
And those lines? They’re part of the planning that makes this level of precision possible.
The photos show an actual patient immediately after surgery. Swelling is still present, and the final results will develop as healing progresses.

Does fat move after lipo?
It’s a common concern, especially when someone notices weight gain in an area that wasn’t treated.
Here’s what actually happens.
The fat cells removed during liposuction are gone permanently. But if someone gains weight afterward, the remaining fat cells can still grow, including in areas that weren’t treated.
The fat didn’t move. The body gained weight.
That’s why Dr. Gopal emphasizes being at a weight patients can realistically maintain before surgery. Not the lowest weight they can reach, but one they can sustain long after recovery.

Don’t plan lipo 2 months before vacation.
If the goal is to enjoy a more sculpted, defined body next summer, the planning needs to start months before that.
Fall is one of our busiest seasons at Formation, and there’s a reason for it. Many patients are already thinking about how they want to look and feel next summer.
But getting there takes time.
At Formation, Dr. Gopal requires at least four weeks of preparation before surgery. That time is spent preparing patients physically and mentally for the procedure and recovery.
After surgery, swelling needs to go down, the skin needs to contract, and the tissues need time to settle into their new contour.
It can take 6–9 months for results to look and feel natural.
That’s why Dr. Gopal recommends planning liposuction 6–12 months ahead, especially when there’s a specific season or vacation in mind.
If next summer is the goal, now is the time to start the conversation.

How defined would you go?
Not everyone wants the same look from HD liposuction. Some prefer a smooth, subtle contour, while others want their abs to stand out.
Here’s how the three levels of definition differ:
01. Low definition: A leaner, natural-looking abdomen with subtle definition and light contouring around the underlying muscles.
02. Medium definition: More visible separation between the abdominal muscles, with added definition through the abs and obliques without a sharply etched six-pack.
03. High definition: More pronounced sculpting around the abs and obliques to highlight the underlying muscle structure and create a more chiseled, athletic look.
Dr. Gopal tailors his HD liposuction technique to the level of definition you’re looking for, while considering what’s achievable for your body.
Which would you choose: 1, 2 or 3? Tell us in the comments!

This isn’t traditional lipo. It’s HD lipo.
For this patient, getting smaller isn’t the goal.
He already works out. He already has the muscle. Dr. Gopal’s job is to use HD liposuction to bring out more of that existing definition and shape the areas around it so the body looks more athletic and defined.
That’s why the markings matter. Before surgery even begins, Dr. Gopal is mapping out how the abs, chest, arms and surrounding areas should work together in the final result.

Procedure Day And The Recovery Calendar
FaceTite for the neck and jawline is an office procedure at Formation. It’s performed under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, through very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Fat comes out first, with restraint, so the jaw keeps its natural angles. Over-aggressive removal here leads to irregularities and premature aging. FaceTite or Renuvion then tightens the skin so it settles over the muscle and bone underneath.
Men need a different aesthetic eye than women, which is why FaceTite for men is planned on its own terms. If your plan adds procedures that need an operating room, those happen in a Quad A accredited facility. There, Dr. Grandhige works with the same anesthesia provider, the same staff and his own physician assistant on every case.
- First few days: swelling, bruising and tightness under the jaw, with a chin compression garment on
- One week: back to work, social plans and training, with the garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day
- Two to four weeks: swelling keeps settling and the liposuction result becomes visible
- Three months: tightening shows and the jawline reads clearly
- Six to nine months: final result, once skin tightening reaches its full effect
On the calendar, a procedure in November or December 2026 reaches the six-to-nine-month mark between May and September 2027. The garment weeks land in Tampa’s cooler months.
Two Ways To Start From New Tampa
Formation offers two ways in, and they do different jobs.
The complimentary virtual evaluation is with Hanna, Formation’s patient coordinator. She reviews your goals and outlines a plan before you commit to the drive. It’s the right place for your mirror-check photos.
The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee, and the fee applies toward any procedure or product at the practice. It’s a full surgical assessment. He runs the Four-Layer Neck Read in person, evaluates skin quality and the anatomy underneath, and tells you whether FaceTite will get you where you want to go. Some consultations end with a recommendation to wait, and that’s a legitimate outcome.
His board certification can be confirmed independently through the American Board of Surgery.
Deciding On FaceTite In New Tampa
FaceTite firms a softening jawline from beneath the skin, and paired with neck liposuction it clears fat under the chin, all without a facelift scar or a facelift recovery. At Formation, it’s planned by a board-certified general surgeon who reads all four layers of the neck before choosing a tool, and who will tell you when FaceTite is the wrong one.
The published evidence supports a measurable change under the chin, with limits you should know before you treat any figure as a promise. The 20-mile drive is real, and it’s easy to plan once you know when to make it.
If you’re still deciding whether FaceTite fits your neck, start from home with the complimentary virtual evaluation. If you want the full read now, book the in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, a minor one. Dr. Grandhige works through very small incisions under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, and you go home the same day. You skip the facelift scar and the general anesthesia, which is the real difference from a facelift.
That's how Formation's neck procedure is built. Fat is removed first, then FaceTite or Renuvion tightens the skin over the muscle and bone underneath, all in the same office visit.
No. Vertical cords are platysmal bands, and bands are muscle. Neither heat nor fat removal changes them. When bands are present, the fix is platysmaplasty with MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, which is layer two of the Four-Layer Neck Read.
Plan on about a week. Expect swelling, bruising and tightness for the first few days. At one week, patients return to work and social plans, still wearing the chin garment 12 to 24 hours a day.
Plan on about a week. Expect swelling, bruising and tightness for the first few days. At one week, patients return to work and social plans, still wearing the chin garment 12 to 24 hours a day.
No. The oral sedative means someone else drives you the roughly 20 miles home. If you'd rather skip that trip on day one, Formation works with hotels near the practice, and Dr. Grandhige visits patients there in the early days.
Fat that's removed doesn't come back. Your neck keeps aging, but clearing excess fat here can slow how fast new laxity shows, so you age from a tighter starting point. A stable weight protects the result, because weight gain can enlarge the fat cells that remain.
Expect swelling and some firmness under the skin while tissue settles, and occasionally that lasts longer than planned. Burns are a risk with any radiofrequency device, which is why FaceTite reads skin temperature throughout treatment. Temporary weakness of the nerve that moves the lower lip has been reported in published series and usually resolves. The aesthetic risks, asymmetry and under-correction, trace back to candidate selection and planning.
Skin age matters more than birth year. Skin generally keeps enough elasticity at a skin age of roughly 25 to 55, and Dr. Grandhige judges that on your neck at the consultation.
