Jawline filler adds structure at three points: the chin, the jaw border and the back corner of the jaw below your ear. It sharpens a jaw that looks soft because the frame underneath is short or flat. It can’t fix fat, muscle bands or loose skin, so Dr. Gopal Grandhige checks all four possible causes before anyone chooses a product. Formation plans jawline fillers in Tampa in that order, and many jaws take two short visits about a month apart.
Start from home with Formation’s complimentary virtual evaluation, where patient coordinator Hanna assesses your goals and outlines a plan before you decide to come in. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee and is a full surgical assessment. The fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice.
Most jaws show softness in more than one layer at once. The Four-Layer Neck Read checks fat, muscle, skin and frame in that order, and each layer has its own fix. Filler fixes the fourth. The mirror checks below won’t diagnose you, but they’ll help you describe what you see in the virtual evaluation.
Sit upright, look straight ahead and pinch the skin just behind your chin. A thick, soft roll points to a fat pad, and filler built around it makes the lower face heavier. Neck liposuction removes that pad in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative. Most patients are back to work and training in about a week, with a chin garment on 12 to 24 hours a day.
One Formation patient, a fit professional in his 40s, said his neck had always looked this way and he hated photos. After targeted neck liposuction with jawline contouring, his face matched the rest of his body, and he gets in the pictures now.
Clench your teeth and pull the corners of your mouth down. Cords that stand out down the front of your neck are platysmal bands, and a sharper jaw above them makes them easier to see. Where bands show, the route is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, paired with platysmaplasty.
Tip your head down, lift it back to level and watch the skin along your jaw. If it settles straight back, it has the snap filler needs. If it folds and lingers, skin comes first. Filler holds a clean edge best on skin with a skin age between about 25 and 55.
Past that window, FaceTite, a radiofrequency skin-tightening device, goes ahead of any filler. When looseness goes past what tightening can reach, Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do that work well and points you to the right one.
Take a side-profile photo with your head level. Check whether your chin sits well behind a line dropped straight down from your lower lip, and whether the back corner of your jaw fades into your neck. Either one means the frame is short on structure, and that’s the layer filler builds. If it’s your only finding, with no fat pad and skin that settles back, you’re a filler candidate.
Jaw filler goes into up to three zones, and each one changes something different. Your face sets the amount per zone, not a package.
The chin sets your profile. Forward projection here often sharpens the jaw more than anything along the border.
Chin filler also carries an open question about the bone beneath it. A 2024 prospective controlled study looked at it with CT scans. Run at a plastic surgery hospital in Beijing, it enrolled 78 patients in injection and control groups and compared scans at baseline and 6 to 12 months after a single hyaluronic acid chin treatment. The authors reported discernible bone thinning in about 36 percent of patients and found no clear difference between injections above and below 1 mL. An earlier study of Asian patients had linked more thinning to larger volumes per session, so the dose question isn’t settled. The authors called their work exploratory, asked for a large randomized trial and said patients should be told about the possibility. Keep your own log of every chin session and its volume, with every injector you see.
The border is the long edge from chin to angle. Filler here fills the small dip in front of the jowl and straightens a line that has drifted. The facial artery crosses the jawbone in this stretch, so the plane of placement counts for more than the amount. Where anatomy allows, a blunt-tipped cannula lowers the chance of entering a vessel.
The angle is the back corner below your ear. Defining it squares the lower face and separates jaw from neck in profile.
One finding changes the plan. If your lower face is already wide from a large chewing muscle, filler here widens it more. Masseter Botox, a botulinum toxin, relaxes that muscle so the face slims over the following weeks. Some jaws need that step before any filler.
Pick hyaluronic acid when you want a way back. Pick calcium hydroxylapatite when you’re sure of the shape.
Within Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid filler line, the chin and the jaw carry different approvals. Juvederm Volux XC is FDA-approved for moderate to severe loss of jawline definition in adults over 21, and Juvederm Voluma XC is approved for improving the chin profile. So the right syringe for your chin may not be the right one for your border. The enzyme hyaluronidase breaks hyaluronic acid down if a result needs softening. The FDA patient labeling for Volux XC is worth reading before your session.
Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, gives a firmer hold and can’t be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so placement has to be right the first time. It’s visible on CT scans and can show on X-rays, so tell your dentist you’ve had it.
Plan on two sessions about a month apart. The Volux XC clinical study treated 156 participants and allowed an optional touch-up at day 30. Total volume across both sessions ranged from 1.0 to 9.3 mL, with a median of 6.8 mL. That ninefold spread is the useful number. A syringe count quoted before anyone has read your jaw is a guess.
The headline result needs one more piece of information. The trial record on ClinicalTrials.gov compares treated patients with an untreated control group. At six months, about 69 percent of treated participants had improved at least one point on both sides of the jaw on a five-point scale, and so had 38 percent of the untreated group. Some change registers on a visual scale even without treatment, so the real effect is the gap between those two numbers. Satisfaction held up: at 12 months, about 82 percent of participants still reported being satisfied with their lower face and jawline.
Major weight loss, including on a GLP-1 medication, can change your read within months. The fat that buried your jaw may be gone, which clears layer one. What’s left can be skin that hasn’t caught up, or a chin that was always short and now shows. Those need different tools.
Filler laid over loose skin adds weight to the problem, while the same filler on a short chin finishes the frame. If your weight is still dropping, waiting until it settles gives the read a fixed target.
Filler won’t remove a double chin. Fat needs fat removal, and Formation’s page on neck and jawline contouring in Rainbow Heights covers that route.
In the Volux XC study, common reactions at the injection sites included tenderness, lumps, pain, swelling, firmness, bruising, redness, itching and discoloration. Most were mild or moderate and went away on their own within two weeks. The serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel. It’s rare, but vision loss and skin damage are among the listed outcomes. That’s why anatomy comes before product.
Health and diet are assessed before treatment, not after. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted in the window right before and after your session so your body builds the most structure it can.
Formation’s 60/40 Recovery Standard comes from surgery, where the operation is 60 percent of the result and aftercare is the other 40. The same principle applies to filler on a smaller scale. The habits around your session shape how much you bruise and how your jaw looks at two weeks.
The syringe holds the same product at every practice in Tampa. The thinking around it isn’t.
Masculine definition comes from a squared border, a crisp angle and forward chin projection. Filler in the wrong plane rounds those edges off. Formation is known for male and athletic contouring, where small errors read as artificial, and that restraint carries to the needle. See how male structure is planned on Formation’s page for jawline fillers for men.
These work with any provider, Formation included.
Confirm the license through the Florida Board of Medicine, and check board certification as a separate step.
Ask for before-and-after photos of patients who started where you are now. Dr. Grandhige finds those more useful than the most dramatic results.
Then listen for a no. A good consultation explains limits and sometimes ends with advice to wait. If everything sounds easy or guaranteed, treat it as a red flag.
Rainbow Heights sits along North 40th Street south of Osborne Avenue, with Chelsea Street running through it.
One local detail shapes the route. 40th Street once had its own I-4 interchange, and it was removed in 2005 when I-4 was widened. The direct way west is Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It crosses 40th Street at the neighborhood’s edge and reaches I-275 at Exit 46B, a full interchange.
From there, take I-275 south through downtown to the Howard Avenue exit, then head south past Kennedy Boulevard to Formation at 1315 South Howard Avenue. Plan on about 20 minutes outside rush hour. A mid-morning booking misses both commutes at the downtown interchange.
Which one had surgery 1 or 2? 👀
High-definition liposuction goes beyond traditional fat removal. Instead of simply reducing fat evenly, the surgeon strategically removes fat around the underlying muscles to make their natural contours more visible.
But here’s what makes it interesting: HD lipo doesn’t create the same six-pack on everyone. Each person’s anatomy, muscle development, and desired level of definition influence the final result.
Now take another look at these two patients.
Which one do you think had HD liposuction, 1 or 2?

There’s a story behind every decision.
Cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. Yet people who choose it often find themselves having to explain or defend that choice to others.
Some want to restore changes after pregnancy or weight loss. Others have worked hard to get in shape but still have areas they’d like to improve. And some simply want to feel more comfortable with their appearance.
The reasons are different for everyone. And they don’t have to make sense to anyone else.
At Formation, Dr. Gopal believes the decision to pursue cosmetic surgery should be guided by a patient’s personal goals, realistic expectations, and what’s medically appropriate for them.
Because ultimately, the person making that decision is the one who will live with it.

Our first four-legged patient. 🐾
Dr. Gopal takes his liposuction and body contouring very seriously.
Even when his patients have four legs.
From loose skin and neck liposuction to a jawline that deserves its own before-and-after reveal, this might be his most dramatic transformation yet.
And yes, he even got the patient’s permission to share the results. 😂
A little Halloween fun from Dr. Gopal and his two very patient pups! 🎃🐶
No dogs underwent surgery. Just two willing participants and one very committed surgeon.

What weight loss can’t fix.
After losing over 100 pounds, this patient had achieved significant weight loss, but was left with excess skin around his abdomen and back that weight loss alone couldn’t address.
During an 8-hour surgery, Dr. Gopal performed a circumferential body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin around the entire midsection to improve body contour.
In this video, Dr. Gopal walks through the procedure, explaining how he removed approximately 3 pounds of skin from the back and estimated another 4–5 pounds would be removed from the abdomen.
He’s also using a small amount of fat collected during the procedure to add volume to the upper chest, improving its contour without performing a separate chest lift.
For patients who have experienced major weight loss, body contouring can help address the excess skin that remains after the weight is gone.

Only 3 months after surgery. And still healing.
This patient had previously undergone a tummy tuck but wanted to improve his abdominal contour, create more definition, and address the appearance of his existing scar.
Dr. Gopal combined several body contouring techniques, including HD liposuction, skin tightening with Renuvion, fat transfer to the chest, and revision of the previous tummy tuck scar.
The result so far? A more defined abdomen, improved body contours, and a revised scar that’s still in the early stages of healing.
At just three months after surgery, these aren’t the final results. Swelling can continue to decrease, and scars typically soften and fade as healing progresses.

Your fat is liquid gold.
The fat you don’t want might be exactly what another part of your body needs.
During liposuction, the fat we remove doesn’t always have to be discarded. In fact, Dr. Gopal refers to it as “liquid gold.”
Why? Because that fat can sometimes be transferred to another area of the body to add volume, enhance natural contours, and create a more balanced shape.
For women, that might mean adding volume to the breasts, hips, or buttocks. For men, fat transfer can help enhance the chest or shoulders.
And because we’re using your own fat, we can potentially improve two areas during the same surgery.
Of course, fat transfer isn’t right for everyone. It’s something Dr. Gopal discusses with patients beforehand and incorporates into the surgical plan when appropriate.

Cosmetic surgery isn’t just cosmetic.
We often measure the success of plastic surgery by what we can see in before-and-after photos. But some of the most meaningful changes happen in ways a photograph can’t capture.
How someone feels about themselves. The confidence they carry into everyday life. The freedom of no longer feeling uncomfortable in their own skin.
For Dr. Gopal, that’s what makes this work so meaningful.
A patient who underwent body contouring in 2025 recently reached out to share how much the experience continues to mean to her.
She didn’t talk about measurements or how her body looked. She talked about how much better her days had become.
And that’s something Dr. Gopal has always believed: Cosmetic surgery isn’t simply about changing how someone looks. It’s about understanding what that change means to the person choosing it.

A flatter stomach without a tummy tuck? 👀
Pregnancy, and sometimes increased pressure from fat deep inside the abdomen, can cause the abdominal muscles to separate down the middle. This is called diastasis recti, and it can make your belly stick out even if you’re otherwise lean.
Traditionally, repairing that separation often meant undergoing a tummy tuck. But what if you don’t have much loose skin to remove?
For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can use robotic-assisted surgery to bring those separated muscles back together through three small incisions, without the long scar associated with a traditional tummy tuck.
That’s exactly what he did for the patient in these before-and-after photos. No tummy tuck. No additional procedures.
**But this approach isn’t for everyone.** If you have significant loose skin or excess fat, a different treatment may be more appropriate. That’s why understanding what’s causing your belly to protrude matters before deciding on surgery.

Why does fluid sometimes collect after surgery?
After certain surgical procedures, fluid can accumulate beneath the skin, forming what’s called a seroma.
In this video, Dr. Gopal demonstrates how he drains a seroma in a patient recovering from diastasis recti repair.
This is one of the reasons postoperative follow-up matters. It allows Dr. Gopal to monitor healing, identify any issues, and address them when necessary.

The fat is gone. But what takes its place?
When fat is removed during liposuction, it leaves behind space beneath the skin. As the body heals, fluid can sometimes collect in that space, creating what’s called a seroma.
And here’s why that matters.
If fluid continues to collect, it can potentially affect the final contour.
That’s why Dr. Gopal pays close attention to fluid buildup during recovery. His approach is to identify seromas early and address them quickly.

Hyaluronic acid filler breaks down gradually, so plan on maintenance. In the Volux XC study, about 82 percent of participants were still satisfied with their jawline at 12 months. Ask how long your chosen product is expected to hold.
No. Filler adds structure, and a double chin is usually fat, which is layer one of the read. Neck liposuction removes it. Filler can follow if your frame still needs structure afterward.
Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm can be broken down with the enzyme hyaluronidase. Radiesse can't be dissolved that way, which is why it suits patients who are sure of the shape they want.
Often two treatment visits: a first session and a touch-up about a month later. With the in-office consultation, that's up to three trips across town over roughly six weeks. The virtual evaluation happens from home.
The virtual evaluation with Hanna is complimentary and happens from home. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee and is a full surgical assessment. The fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice.
Swelling, tenderness, bruising and small lumps are common in the first days, and in the Volux XC study most cleared within two weeks. Schedule photo-critical events at least two weeks after your last session.
It depends on what the weight loss left behind. If the fat is gone and your chin was always short, filler can finish the frame. If loose skin is the main change, skin tightening usually comes first.
About 20 minutes outside rush hour. The direct route runs west on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to I-275, then south through downtown to the Howard Avenue exit. Formation sees patients Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A sharper jaw from Rainbow Heights starts with one question: which layer is soft. If it’s the frame, filler at the chin, border or angle adds the structure you’re missing, often over two visits a month apart. If it’s fat, muscle or skin, you’ll hear that before any product is chosen.
