Layer Two, The Platysma And Platysmal Bands
The platysma is the flat sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate and become visible, you see two vertical cords running from the jaw toward the collarbone. Who FaceTite Fits, And Who It Does Not
FaceTite fits a neck with mild to moderate skin looseness, workable elasticity, and no visible muscle bands. As a working range, skin behaves well for this treatment from roughly age 25 to 55. That window is about tissue quality rather than a birthday, and it is the first thing assessed in person.
Good candidates usually share a pattern. They are close to a stable weight. The jawline was sharper five or ten years ago and softened without any change in habits. Photographs and video calls bother them more than mirrors do.
Here is where it does not work, stated plainly.
If skin hangs in a fold when you stand and stays there, tightening will not lift it. If two cords stand out when you clench, that is muscle, and heat does not tighten muscle. If your chin sits well back, the neck is not the problem. And if the amount of loose skin is past what tightening reaches, the honest answer is a lift performed by a facelift surgeon. What Happens On The Day
Most neck and jawline cases at Formation are done in the office, not in an operating room.
You take an oral sedative for anxiety, and the area is numbed with local anesthetic. Access points are small and placed under the chin and behind the ears, where they sit in natural shadow. Fat is removed first, carefully, with the natural jaw angles preserved. Over-removal in this area is what creates a hollow, prematurely aged neck, so the ceiling is set by anatomy rather than by how much can be taken.
Skin tightening follows. Depending on the read, that is FaceTite or Renuvion, a helium plasma device, applied under the skin to draw the tissue in over the muscle and bone beneath.
The whole appointment is measured in hours, and you leave in a chin garment.
When a case does call for general anesthesia, it is performed in a Quad A accredited surgical facility. Dr. Grandhige works with the same anesthesia provider and the same staff on every case, so the room knows the plan before the day starts. Recovery, Week By Week
- First few days. Mild swelling, bruising and a tight feeling under the chin. The chin garment goes on and stays on.
- One week. Back to work, back to social plans, back to training. The garment is still worn 12 to 24 hours a day through this stretch. This is the point most pages compress into a vague few days, and the garment is the reason the real figure is a week.
- Two to four weeks. Swelling settles steadily and the results of the fat removal become clear. This is the first honest look at your new jawline.
- Three months. Skin tightening becomes visible, with meaningful improvement along the jaw.
- Six to nine months. Final result. Tightening finishes on its own schedule and cannot be rushed.
Two Clearwater-specific notes. Fresh access points under the chin and behind the ears do not belong in direct Gulf sun or salt water in the early weeks, so beach and boating plans are worth putting on the calendar before scheduling rather than after. And if there is a wedding, a reunion or a photographed event on the horizon, count backward from three months, not from one week.
Swelling occasionally runs longer than a week, particularly in patients who resume hard training early. That is normal, it is not a complication, and it is one of the more common reasons people think a result failed at the four-week mark when it had not.
How Formation Prepares The Body Before And After
The device is the same everywhere. Any practice can buy it. What changes the result is what happens in the weeks around the appointment.
Health and diet are assessed before treatment, not after. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and immediately after, so the body has what it needs to build the most structure it can while the tissue is remodeling. Protein intake, inflammation and lymphatic flow are dialed in as part of the plan rather than handed over as a pamphlet.

Poor aftercare can undo well-executed work.
