FaceTite In Clearwater, FL
Tighten The Jawline From Underneath, Not From The Surface
What FaceTite Does For The Neck And Jawline
FaceTite tightens loose skin under the chin and along the jaw by working from beneath the skin instead of on top of it. It is a radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis device. A thin probe passes under the skin, warms a small volume of fat so it can be removed, and heats the tissue layer that anchors skin to the muscle underneath. For the right neck, that combination sharpens the jaw line without the incisions or the downtime of a lift.
The word carrying the weight in that sentence is right. FaceTite corrects one kind of neck well and does almost nothing for three other kinds. Most patients arriving from Clearwater have already read six or eight pages that describe the device in detail and never once say which kind of neck it is for.
That is the question this page answers. Not what the machine does, but whether it reaches the thing that is actually changing your profile.
Clearwater, Dunedin, Safety Harbor and Largo patients have been part of Formation’s regular caseload since the practice opened. The office sits in Tampa, across the bay, and the section near the end of this page covers what that means in practice.
Why Depth Of Access Decides The Result
The difference between FaceTite and the treatments it competes with is not the brand on the handpiece. It is where the energy lands.
FaceTite delivers energy from a probe placed under the skin, so heat reaches the deepest layer of the skin and the fibroseptal network beneath it. Surface devices, lasers and microneedling platforms among them, work from the top down. They improve texture and tone, and they do not reach the foundation that holds the neck up. Two treatments can carry similar marketing language and act on completely different tissue.
That is also why a device page needs a candidacy section rather than a specification list. Access is only useful if layer three is your problem.
One point on regulatory language, stated once. FaceTite is 510(k)-cleared, not FDA approved. Clearance means the device was shown to be substantially equivalent to a legally marketed predicate. Approval is a separate and higher pathway involving clinical evidence of safety and effectiveness for the specific indication. Most pages selling this treatment use the word approved. It is the wrong word, and knowing the difference tells you how much weight to put on manufacturer performance claims.
The Four-Layer Neck Read
A neck can change in as many as four layers at once, and a device that reaches one of them cannot fix the other three. Before any treatment is planned at Formation, Dr. Gopal Grandhige works through all four in order. This is the Four-Layer Neck Read.
Layer One, Fat Under The Chin
Fat sitting below the chin softens the line between the jaw and the neck. This layer is genetic more often than it is dietary, which is why lean, active people still carry it. The solution is targeted removal, not tightening. Liposuction of the submental area handles layer one on its own.
Layer Two, The Platysma And Platysmal Bands
The platysma is the flat sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate and become visible, you see two vertical cords running from the jaw toward the collarbone. Those are platysmal bands, and no energy device tightens a muscle. The solution here is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, paired with platysmaplasty. A dedicated page on that combination is in progress. Bands are the single most common reason a tightening result disappoints someone: the skin did tighten, and the cords are still there.
Layer Three, Skin And The Fibroseptal Network
Skin quality and the connective tissue foundation beneath it, the fibroseptal network, determine whether the neck recoils after fat is removed. This is FaceTite’s layer. It is also the layer surface treatments cannot reach.
Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Sometimes the neck is fine and the frame is short. A chin that sits back relative to the lower lip makes a normal neck read as heavy. Structural filler answers this: Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, placed on bone to bring the frame forward. This is where a superhero jawline actually comes from, and no amount of skin tightening substitutes for it. A page covering structural filler for chin and jaw projection is in progress.
Most necks are a combination. Related reading: neck and jawline contouring for men and neck and jawline contouring for women.
Who FaceTite Fits, And Who It Does Not
FaceTite fits a neck with mild to moderate skin looseness, workable elasticity, and no visible muscle bands. As a working range, skin behaves well for this treatment from roughly age 25 to 55. That window is about tissue quality rather than a birthday, and it is the first thing assessed in person.
Good candidates usually share a pattern. They are close to a stable weight. The jawline was sharper five or ten years ago and softened without any change in habits. Photographs and video calls bother them more than mirrors do.
Here is where it does not work, stated plainly.
If skin hangs in a fold when you stand and stays there, tightening will not lift it. If two cords stand out when you clench, that is muscle, and heat does not tighten muscle. If your chin sits well back, the neck is not the problem. And if the amount of loose skin is past what tightening reaches, the honest answer is a lift performed by a facelift surgeon. Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do that work well and points patients to the right one rather than selling a treatment that will underdeliver.
One Formation patient in his forties came in convinced his neck made him look older than he felt, having assumed for years that it was simply his face. It was fat and skin, not muscle. Afterward colleagues told him he looked rested, and by his own account he stopped avoiding photographs. That result was available because the read matched the treatment. When it does not match, saying so is the more valuable answer. Real cases are in the before and after gallery.
What Happens On The Day
Most neck and jawline cases at Formation are done in the office, not in an operating room.
You take an oral sedative for anxiety, and the area is numbed with local anesthetic. Access points are small and placed under the chin and behind the ears, where they sit in natural shadow. Fat is removed first, carefully, with the natural jaw angles preserved. Over-removal in this area is what creates a hollow, prematurely aged neck, so the ceiling is set by anatomy rather than by how much can be taken.
Skin tightening follows. Depending on the read, that is FaceTite or Renuvion, a helium plasma device, applied under the skin to draw the tissue in over the muscle and bone beneath.
The whole appointment is measured in hours, and you leave in a chin garment.
When a case does call for general anesthesia, it is performed in a Quad A accredited surgical facility. Dr. Grandhige works with the same anesthesia provider and the same staff on every case, so the room knows the plan before the day starts. He is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and specializes in aesthetic surgery, and he performs every procedure himself.
Recovery, Week By Week
- First few days. Mild swelling, bruising and a tight feeling under the chin. The chin garment goes on and stays on.
- One week. Back to work, back to social plans, back to training. The garment is still worn 12 to 24 hours a day through this stretch. This is the point most pages compress into a vague few days, and the garment is the reason the real figure is a week.
- Two to four weeks. Swelling settles steadily and the results of the fat removal become clear. This is the first honest look at your new jawline.
- Three months. Skin tightening becomes visible, with meaningful improvement along the jaw.
- Six to nine months. Final result. Tightening finishes on its own schedule and cannot be rushed.
Two Clearwater-specific notes. Fresh access points under the chin and behind the ears do not belong in direct Gulf sun or salt water in the early weeks, so beach and boating plans are worth putting on the calendar before scheduling rather than after. And if there is a wedding, a reunion or a photographed event on the horizon, count backward from three months, not from one week.
Swelling occasionally runs longer than a week, particularly in patients who resume hard training early. That is normal, it is not a complication, and it is one of the more common reasons people think a result failed at the four-week mark when it had not.
How Formation Prepares The Body Before And After
The device is the same everywhere. Any practice can buy it. What changes the result is what happens in the weeks around the appointment.
Health and diet are assessed before treatment, not after. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and immediately after, so the body has what it needs to build the most structure it can while the tissue is remodeling. Protein intake, inflammation and lymphatic flow are dialed in as part of the plan rather than handed over as a pamphlet.
This follows a rule Dr. Grandhige applies across every procedure at Formation, the 60/40 Recovery Standard: the procedure is 60 percent of the result and post-procedure care is the other 40 percent. Poor aftercare can undo well-executed work. That is why Formation owns the recovery phase instead of outsourcing it, with vetted providers for lymphatic treatment and nutrition, and follow-up that runs a full year.
Surgical volume is limited on purpose so that this level of involvement is possible. Fewer patients, more attention on each one.
The instrument is identical at every practice that owns one. The thinking around it is not.
Coming To Formation From Clearwater
Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in Tampa’s Hyde Park, roughly 25 miles from downtown Clearwater. The Courtney Campbell Causeway is the direct route: one bridge, no interchange stacking, and it lands you a few minutes from the door. Patients travel in from Clearwater Beach, Island Estates, Sand Key, Belleair, Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Countryside, Largo and Palm Harbor.
You do not need to make that drive to find out whether this is your treatment. Formation offers a complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna, who reviews your goals and outlines a plan before you decide to come in. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee, because it is a full surgical assessment with an anatomical evaluation and a candidacy decision, and that fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice. Most Pinellas patients start virtually and cross the bay once they know the answer is worth the trip. You can start with the virtual evaluation.
Because the in-office version of this procedure uses local anesthesia, Clearwater patients drive themselves home the same day with a companion at the wheel. The out-of-town hotel program Formation runs for patients flying in from Atlanta or Miami is not something you will need for a 25 mile drive.
Follow-up does mean repeat crossings, and the schedule is worth knowing in advance: an early post-procedure visit, then checkpoints as swelling resolves, then intermittent contact through the first year. If you are also weighing the surgical route, the parent page on FaceTite at our Tampa office covers the broader picture.
Frequently Asked Questions About FaceTite In Clearwater
No. A neck lift removes skin through incisions and repositions tissue. FaceTite tightens the skin you already have by heating it from beneath, with no skin removed. That makes it a shorter appointment with far less downtime, and it also caps how much correction is possible. Past a certain amount of loose skin, tightening cannot substitute for removal, and Formation will tell you that at the assessment and refer you to a surgeon who performs lifts.
One week for both. You wear a chin compression garment 12 to 24 hours a day through that period, including at work. Some patients feel ready sooner, and returning to hard training earlier tends to extend swelling rather than speed anything up.
No. Vertical cords running down the front of the neck are the edges of the platysma muscle, and heat does not tighten muscle. That is layer two of the Four-Layer Neck Read, and the answer there is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty. Treating bands with an energy device is the most common way people end up disappointed by a technically successful result.
It is 510(k) cleared, which is not the same thing. Clearance means the device was found substantially equivalent to a device already on the market. Approval is a higher bar requiring clinical evidence of safety and effectiveness for a specific indication. Most marketing pages use approved. The accurate word matters because it tells you how much weight the manufacturer's performance claims can carry.
There is an elasticity window rather than an age limit, and skin generally sits in a workable range from roughly 25 to 55. Elasticity varies with genetics and sun history, which in Pinellas County is usually significant. Two people the same age can fall on opposite sides of that line, so the assessment is done by hand and by eye, not by birth date.
No. Start with the complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna, who reviews your goals and outlines a plan remotely. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee and is a full surgical assessment, and that fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice. Once you proceed, expect an early post-procedure visit, checkpoints as swelling resolves, and contact through the first year.
Not in the first weeks. The access points under the chin and behind the ears are small, and they still need to be kept out of direct sun and out of salt and pool water while they close. You will get a specific date at your post-procedure visit. If you have a boating season or a beach trip you care about, schedule the procedure around it rather than trying to schedule the water around the procedure.
Temporary numbness, swelling and bruising are expected. Contour irregularity is possible where fat is removed unevenly, which is why removal is conservative and jaw angles are preserved. The one worth naming specifically is the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve, which runs near the jawline and can be irritated by work in this area, producing temporary weakness at the corner of the mouth. It is uncommon and typically resolves, and it is a real reason to have this done by a surgeon who knows the anatomy rather than by a technician operating a device.
The Short Version
FaceTite reaches one layer of the neck: skin and the fibroseptal network beneath it. It reaches that layer well, from underneath, in a way surface treatments cannot. It does nothing for muscle bands, nothing for a short chin, and nothing for skin that has passed the point tightening can reach.
So the useful first step is not booking a device. It is finding out which of the four layers is driving your profile, because that answer determines whether FaceTite is the right tool, one part of a combination, or the wrong direction entirely.
Start with the complimentary virtual evaluation from Clearwater. Cross the bay once you know.

More definition doesn’t automatically mean a better liposuction result.
The goal of body contouring is to create definition that makes sense for your anatomy, not to create the most sculpted abdomen possible simply because we can.
Low-, medium-, and high-definition liposuction can create very different looks, from subtle contouring to a more athletic or highly sculpted appearance.
The right level depends on your existing muscle definition, proportions, surrounding areas of the body, and the result you want to achieve.
For Dr. Gopal Grandhige, a board-certified surgeon specializing in body contouring and high-definition liposuction in Tampa, the goal is balance: the abdomen, chest, back, arms and shoulders should look like they belong to the same body.
The result should feel cohesive, proportional, and natural to your anatomy.

One of the biggest misconceptions about liposuction? That the fat either “comes back” or simply moves somewhere else.
Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treated area. But it doesn’t remove every fat cell, and the cells that remain can still grow larger with weight gain.
That’s why long-term results aren’t just about what happens during the procedure. Maintaining a relatively stable weight helps preserve the contour created through liposuction.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige specializes in advanced high definition liposuction and body contouring, with an emphasis on creating results that complement each patient’s natural anatomy.

6 months post HD liposuction with moderate definition.
The goal was a leaner, more athletic contour with visible definition through the abdomen and torso, without pushing the result to the highest level of definition.
HD liposuction can be customized based on anatomy, muscle structure, and the degree of definition someone wants to achieve.
For this patient, moderate definition created the balance Dr. Gopal was looking for.

These lipo terms aren’t interchangeable.
Traditional liposuction, Lipo 360, and high-definition liposuction can all address unwanted fat, but the approach depends on what you’re actually trying to change.
Maybe it’s one stubborn area that hasn’t responded to diet and exercise.
Maybe the goal is creating better proportion throughout the entire midsection.
Or maybe you’re already lean and looking for more visible, athletic definition.
Those are different goals, and they call for different treatment plans.
