Why Depth Of Access Is The Difference
The energy source is not the interesting part. Depth of access is.
Lasers and microneedling devices work from the top down. They heat the surface and the upper skin, and they improve texture and fine lines, which is real value. What they cannot do is reach the fibroseptal network, because that foundation sits below their working depth. FaceTite goes underneath it. A slim probe passes below the skin while a second electrode rides on top, and the tissue between them is brought to a set temperature that is monitored throughout.
Collagen remodeling continues for months afterward and shapes the final result, but it is a consequence of reaching the right depth rather than the reason the treatment works.
Radiofrequency platforms used for this are 510(k)-cleared rather than FDA-approved, which is the standard pathway for this class of device. Clearance says nothing about how well the device suits your particular neck.
Who FaceTite Suits, And Who It Does Not
The skin has to be able to respond. Formation looks for reasonable elasticity, which in practice means roughly skin ages 25 to 55. That is a range for skin quality, not a birthday cutoff. Someone at 58 who stayed out of the sun may have better recoil than someone at 44 who did not.
Strong candidates tend to share a few features: fullness under the chin that has not responded to training, a jaw line that reads softer than the rest of a fit body, skin that springs back well when pinched and released, and stable weight across recent months.
Recent weight loss deserves a direct conversation. Dropping a large amount quickly, including on a GLP-1 medication, changes what skin does when it is released. Sometimes the right call is to treat now. Sometimes it is to wait until weight has held steady, because tightening skin that is still changing shape means treating a moving target.
Some patients cannot be helped by this, and Formation says so at the consultation. Skin with a fold that hangs at rest, or laxity past what energy can contract, needs surgical removal, which falls outside what Formation offers. Those patients are referred outward to surgeons who do that work well. Dr. Grandhige has told patients to wait, and told others that surgery is not the answer at all. What Treatment Day Looks Like
Neck and jawline work at Formation happens in the office rather than an operating room. You take an oral sedative, the area is numbed with local anesthetic, and the treatment runs through very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. You stay awake. Nobody is putting you under.
Dr. Grandhige performs the procedure himself. He also does the consultation, which sounds unremarkable until you have been through a practice where the person who assessed you is not the person holding the device. Surgical volume here is limited on purpose so that stays true.
Office-based procedures in Florida are mid-change in a way worth knowing about. House Bill 1175 took effect July 1, 2026, adding section 553.884 to the Florida Statutes and directing the Florida Building Commission and the State Fire Marshal to write safety design standards for office surgery suites by January 1, 2027. Those standards do not exist yet, so nobody can tell you today what a compliant suite will look like next year. It is a fair question to put to any practice treating you in an office.
Recovery, From The First Week To The Final Result
Formation treats aftercare as 40 percent of the outcome. The procedure is 60 percent and post-operative care is the rest, and poor aftercare can undo well-executed work. That is the 60/40 Recovery Standard, and it shapes how closely patients get followed.
The first few days bring mild swelling, some bruising and a tight feeling. A chin compression garment goes on.
At one week, most patients are back at work and back to training, with the garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day. For Land O’ Lakes patients, one week is roughly when a ride on the Suncoast Trail becomes reasonable again.
Between two and four weeks, swelling settles further and the results of the fat removal become clearly visible.

Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in Tampa. Land O’ Lakes sits in Pasco County, north across the county line, and the trip runs about half an hour outside rush hour. Two routes make sense, and they suit different people.
Dale Mabry Highway is the toll-free option and it is nearly a single road. Dale Mabry meets US 41, Land O’ Lakes Boulevard, just north of the Hillsborough County line, then runs south roughly 22 miles through Lutz, Northdale and Carrollwood into South Tampa. Howard Avenue sits about a mile east of it near the end. Anyone who has driven Dale Mabry to a game at Raymond James has already driven most of this.
The Suncoast Parkway, which becomes the Veterans Expressway once it crosses into Hillsborough County, is faster and tolled. From Connerton or the Bexley side it is usually the better call. Coming from Collier Parkway or the Lake Padgett side, Dale Mabry generally wins.
Either way you are crossing a county line for care. The nearest alternatives sit in Lutz and Wesley Chapel. You are driving regardless, so the real question is who waits at the other end.
