FaceTite In St. Petersburg, FL

FaceTite tightens loose skin and removes fat under the jaw and neck without a facelift incision. It’s done in the office while you’re awake, through punctures small enough to hide under the chin and behind the ears. Most patients are back at work in about a week.

What FaceTite Does Under The Skin

FaceTite is radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis, and the whole argument for it is depth.

A thin probe passes beneath the skin and delivers heat at the level of the fibroseptal network, the connective tissue foundation sitting between skin and muscle that holds your neck’s shape. A sensor on the skin surface reads temperature the entire time, so the energy stays in the band that makes tissue contract and stops well short of burning the surface.

Lasers and microneedling work from the top down. They improve texture and tone, and for the right person that’s enough. They cannot reach the foundation, because the foundation sits below where they stop. That gap is the reason to consider an in-office energy procedure instead of stacking surface treatments and hoping.

Two things happen in one appointment. Fat in the treated pocket gets emulsified and suctioned out, visible within weeks. The skin over it contracts and then keeps remodeling, visible over months.

FaceTite is not a facelift and won’t produce facelift results. It closes the distance between “surface treatments aren’t doing it” and “I’m not ready to be cut.” Past that distance, radiofrequency disappoints, and Dr. Grandhige will say so in the room rather than sell you the appointment you walked in asking for. For the full procedure overview across every treatment area, start with the main FaceTite in Tampa page.

The Four-Layer Neck Read

Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once. That’s why one treatment applied to everybody produces so many disappointed people. Before Dr. Grandhige recommends anything, he reads four layers and matches each one to its own answer.

Layer One, The Fat

Submental fat, the pad under the chin. This layer responds fastest and most predictably, and it’s often genetic rather than dietary, which is why it survives every round of weight loss you’ve ever done. Targeted neck liposuction removes it, and that step creates the shape. Tighten skin over undisturbed fat and you get a smoother version of the same silhouette.

Layer Two, The Platysma

The platysma is the sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate with age, you get platysmal bands, the vertical cords that stand up when you tense your jaw. Heat doesn’t fix bands. MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty is the answer at this layer, and it only comes up when bands are actually present. A dedicated MyEllevate page is in progress.

Layer Three, The Skin And Fibroseptal Network

Skin elasticity is the gate for FaceTite, and the working window runs roughly from skin age 25 to 55. Pinch the skin under your chin and let go. A fast snap back means radiofrequency has something to work with. If it stays tented, or you can gather a thick fold, the honest conversation is surgical neck and jawline contouring instead. Beyond what tightening or contouring can reach, Formation points patients toward the surgeons who do that work well rather than stretching a treatment past its limit.

Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle

Some people clear the first three layers and still don’t get the line they pictured, because the bone underneath doesn’t project far enough. Structural filler addresses that. Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, and Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, add projection at the chin and along the jaw angle. A superhero jawline is a frame problem before it’s a fat problem, and no amount of tightening builds a frame that isn’t there. A page covering structural filler for chin and jaw projection is in progress.

Who FaceTite Suits, And Who Should Wait

The strongest candidates sit at or near a stable weight, with mild to moderate laxity and skin that still recoils. Skin quality predicts the result more reliably than a birth date does. Thin, sun-damaged skin tightens less, though it usually still improves.

Dr. Grandhige’s patients skew fit and healthy. Most aren’t trying to lose weight. They’re addressing something healthy living can’t reach, and skin laxity is the clearest example of that.

Reasons to wait are equally concrete:

  • Active smoking, which suppresses collagen production and slows healing
  • A weight that’s still moving in either direction
  • Recent injections in the treatment area
  • Any active skin infection
  • A wedding, a vacation or a shoot inside the next three months, since swelling resolves over months rather than days

Sometimes surgery isn’t offered at all. Dr. Grandhige’s stated role is to guide a patient toward the right decision, including the decision to wait or to sort out foundational health first. If the read comes back “your skin is fine, come back in a few years,” that’s the answer you get.

One Formation patient in his forties had spent years avoiding photographs. He was fit everywhere else, but his neck and jaw made him look heavier and older than he felt, and he said he had always looked that way. After targeted fat removal and tightening, colleagues told him he looked more rested. He started getting in pictures again.

What The Evidence Shows, And Where It Stops

The device is 510(k)-cleared, which is a clearance pathway rather than an approval, and it’s worth knowing the difference before someone tells you otherwise.

The largest published study on this technology followed 247 patients treated for lower face and neck laxity. Patients improved by an average of 1.4 points on the Baker Face/Neck scale, and 240 of the 247 cases ran under local anesthesia. Complications were counted rather than glossed over: prolonged swelling past six weeks in 4.8 percent, a hardened area past twelve weeks in 3.2 percent, and temporary weakness of the marginal mandibular nerve in 1.2 percent. All of them resolved without further intervention.

Three limits belong right next to those numbers. The study tested bipolar radiofrequency combined with fractional radiofrequency, not FaceTite by itself. Only 13 of the 247 patients were men, so surgeon judgment carries more weight than any published figure when the jawline is male, which is covered in more depth on the FaceTite for men page. And a systematic review of subsurface radiofrequency has argued the safety and efficacy picture still isn’t settled, because most published series are uncontrolled.

Real risks in this category include irregularities, banding, numbness, asymmetry, incomplete correction and residual laxity. Those belong in the conversation before you book.

The Window Formation Actually Manages

The device is the same one you’ll find in offices on both sides of the bay. What changes the outcome is what happens on either side of the appointment.

Health and diet get assessed before treatment, not after. In the window immediately before and immediately after, nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted so the body builds as much structure as it can while collagen is remodeling. Protein intake, inflammation control and lymphatic flow are dialed in rather than left to a printed sheet.

Dr. Grandhige’s background sits behind that. He’s a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery, fellowship-trained in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery after medical school at the University of Michigan. Burn and critical care training is wound-healing training, which is exactly the problem radiofrequency under the skin presents. You can read more about his surgical background, and his certification is verifiable through the American Board of Surgery.

Lymphatic care, nutrition guidance and coaching come from providers he’s vetted personally over years and watched produce results, not a referral list handed out at the door.

The instrument is identical at every practice. The thinking around it is not.

The 60/40 Recovery Standard And Your Timeline

Dr. Grandhige treats the procedure as 60 percent of the result and the post-operative care as the other 40 percent. Incorrect aftercare can ruin a well-performed procedure. That’s the 60/40 standard, and it’s why recovery here gets run rather than handed over.

The arc for a neck and jawline case:

  • First few days. Mild swelling, bruising and tightness, with the chin compression garment on.
  • One week. Back to work and social activities, garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day. Training resumes around this point too.
  • Two to four weeks. Swelling keeps settling and the fat removal becomes clearly visible.
  • Three months. Skin tightening shows up, with obvious jawline improvement.
  • Six to nine months. Final result, once skin tightening has finished.

Dr. Grandhige follows patients for a full year, and nearly all of them stay the full year. To see how the arc lands on real faces, the neck and jawline gallery for men is worth ten minutes.

Why St. Petersburg Patients Cross The Bay

Formation sits at 1315 South Howard Avenue in South Tampa. From most of St. Petersburg that’s a choice between two bridges: the Howard Frankland on I-275, or the Gandy, which lands you closer to the office. Off-peak, either route runs roughly 30 to 40 minutes from downtown St. Petersburg. At rush hour on the Howard Frankland, add whatever the bay decides to add that day.

Three things about being a Pinellas patient matter clinically.

You’ll be sedated. An oral sedative plus local anesthesia means you’re awake and talking through the procedure, and it also means you’re not driving yourself back across the water. Arrange the ride before the appointment rather than the morning of.

Sun is the second one. Pinellas is an outdoor county. If your week runs through the Pinellas Trail, a Fort De Soto loop, a boat or a standing tee time, know that sun exposure in the first two weeks after radiofrequency slows healing and raises the risk of pigment change in treated skin. Book so those fourteen days land in a quieter stretch, and stay in shade and sunscreen when you’re out.

Third, the chin garment. Wearing it 12 to 24 hours a day is a different proposition in January than in August, and that’s a fair reason to move a date rather than push through a Florida summer.

For patients who’d rather not make the drive on day one, Formation has relationships with nearby hotels at discounted rates, and Dr. Grandhige visits patients in the room during the early days so they don’t have to come in. St. Petersburg patients also cross for high-definition liposuction, and the two often get planned into one recovery window.

How Consultations Work At Formation

There are two ways in, and they’re different.

The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee. It’s a full surgical assessment: anatomy evaluated, candidacy assessed, options and limits laid out, and a plan you leave with whether or not you book anything. That fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice.

Before that, Formation offers a complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna. She goes through your goals, tells you what’s likely to apply and what isn’t, and outlines a plan so you can decide whether the drive across the bay is worth making.

Whoever you’re considering on either side of the bay, check the license first. Florida makes every physician’s status public through the Florida Board of Medicine, and it takes about a minute.

How defined would you go?Not everyone wants the same look from HD liposuction. Some prefer a smooth, subtle contour, while others want their abs to stand out. Here’s how the three levels of definition differ:01. Low definition: A smoother, more subtle contour with gentle definition around the waist and abdomen.02. Medium definition: More visible abdominal lines and a defined waist, without the appearance of a pronounced six-pack.03. High definition: More pronounced abdominal contours that highlight the underlying muscle structure for a sculpted, athletic look.Dr. Gopal tailors his HD liposuction technique to the level of definition you’re looking for, while considering what’s achievable for your body.Which would you choose: 1, 2 or 3? The last one got 11/10.Some of the biggest factors affecting liposuction results have nothing to do with what happens in the operating room.Dr. Gopal rates 13 factors that can influence the final result, from working out before surgery and maintaining a stable weight to compression garments, skin elasticity, and lymphatic massage.A few of his ratings might surprise you.For example, he rates skin elasticity a 10/10 because even after the fat is removed, the skin still needs to contract and settle over the new contour. And lymphatic massage? He gives it an 11/10 because of the role it plays in his recovery protocol, helping manage swelling and supporting how the skin settles over the newly sculpted areas. The takeaway: great liposuction results depend on more than the surgery itself. Patient preparation, anatomy, recovery, and long-term weight maintenance all play a role.Considering liposuction or high-definition liposuction in Tampa? Six to seven hours. That’s how long an HD liposuction procedure can take with Dr. Gopal’s approach. He’s not simply removing fat. He’s evaluating every square inch, considering the underlying anatomy, and shaping how each contour transitions into the next. It’s detailed, physically demanding work.So when Dr. Gopal says, “Someone’s gotta sweat for the fat to come off,” he means it.Considering HD liposuction in Tampa? Will neck lipo give you the jawline you want? It depends…Someone can have fullness under the chin and assume the answer is neck liposuction. But what looks like “fat” from the outside can actually come from several different structures. Some fat sits directly beneath the skin and can respond very well to liposuction. But fullness can also come from deeper fat beneath the platysma, the salivary glands under the jaw, muscles under the chin, or even the natural projection of the chin and jaw itself. That distinction can completely change what neck liposuction can realistically accomplish. This is why evaluating the anatomy matters before deciding on a procedure. For the right anatomy, neck liposuction can create a significant change in the neck and jawline. But when deeper structures are contributing to the fullness, liposuction alone may not create the contour someone is expecting.A good neck lipo consultation should figure that out first.Schedule a consultation with **Dr. Gopal Grandhige at Formation Tampa.** Link in bio.#NeckLipo #NeckLiposuction #DoubleChin #JawlineContouring #NeckContouring

Want more definition than workouts gave you?Traditional liposuction focuses primarily on removing fat. HD liposuction goes further. It requires understanding the underlying muscle anatomy, where to remove fat, where to preserve it, and how each contour works together to create natural-looking definition. That’s the art of it. The goal isn’t to give every patient the same abs or the same body. It’s to work with the anatomy that’s already there and determine how much definition will look right for that individual.Dr. Gopal Grandhige specializes in high-definition liposuction and advanced body contouring, using nearly two decades of surgical experience to create results that look sculpted, athletic, and intentional.Considering HD liposuction in Tampa? Defined abs with HD liposuction.Unlike traditional liposuction, where the primary goal is removing excess fat, HD liposuction is about strategically removing fat to reveal and enhance the underlying muscle structure. Those markings you see before surgery help Dr. Gopal map out the patient’s anatomy and plan where to remove fat and where to preserve it to create more visible definition. The second clip was taken immediately after surgery, so this is not the final result. Swelling and bruising will change significantly as the body heals and the final contour develops over the months that follow.Considering high-definition liposuction? Skin quality changes everything.Neck liposuction can create a more defined jawline and neck contour by removing unwanted fat, but the result also depends heavily on skin quality and elasticity. When skin has good elasticity, neck lipo alone may be enough for the skin to contract around the new contour. With some skin laxity, Dr. Gopal may combine liposuction with a skin-tightening treatment such as Renuvion or FaceTite. With significant laxity, a neck lift may be the more appropriate option. That’s why evaluating the skin is an important part of determining the right approach before neck liposuction.Considering neck liposuction in Tampa? Liposuction can change more than the body.I’ve watched patients become more confident, make changes in their careers, show up differently in their relationships, and start making different choices for themselves. That’s when I know I’ve done my job well.Because high-definition liposuction isn’t only about creating a leaner, more defined physique. Male liposuction requires a different approach. The contours that create a more feminine shape aren’t necessarily the same ones that create a strong, athletic male physique. With male high-definition liposuction, Dr. Gopal considers how the chest, abdomen, waist, ribs and back work together—and how the underlying muscle anatomy should guide where definition and shadow are created. That’s also why the chest matters. A highly defined abdomen and back paired with a rounder, less-defined chest can make the overall result feel out of proportion. The goal is a cohesive, athletic contour that works with the patient’s natural anatomy.Considering male HD liposuction? Frequently Asked Questions

The fat cells removed don't come back, so that part of the change holds as long as your weight stays stable. Skin tightening finishes maturing between six and nine months and lasts for years. Aging continues, but removing fat and tightening the foundation in this area slows how quickly laxity returns.

About a week. You'll wear the chin compression garment 12 to 24 hours a day through that stretch, and Dr. Grandhige gives phased guidance rather than a vague timeline.

Usually not. Patients report colleagues saying they look rested or fit without connecting it to anything. That's the intended outcome. Results that announce themselves are the failure mode Dr. Grandhige designs against.

The probe goes in through punctures roughly the width of a pen tip, placed under the chin and behind each ear where they disappear. No facelift incision is made.

Most facial cases run under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, so you're awake the whole time. Patients describe warmth and steady pressure, firm rather than sharp. Soreness afterward reads closer to a hard training session than to surgical pain.

Then heat isn't your answer and you'll be told that. Depending on what the read shows, the conversation moves to surgical neck and jawline contouring, or to MyEllevate with platysmaplasty if platysmal bands are the real issue. Past what tightening and contouring can reach, Formation points you to the surgeons who do that work well.

The office is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in South Tampa, roughly 30 to 40 minutes from downtown St. Petersburg off-peak by way of the Gandy or the Howard Frankland. Discounted nearby hotel stays are available for anyone who'd rather not drive home the same day.

Yes. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige is a full surgical assessment and carries a fee, which can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice. The complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna is a separate option if you want a read on your goals before committing to the drive.

The Bottom Line For St. Petersburg Patients

FaceTite works when the problem is fat plus mild to moderate laxity in skin that still recoils. It fails when the problem is muscle bands, a missing frame, or more loose skin than heat can retract. No website can tell you which of those you have, and the pages promising you it’s the first one haven’t looked at your neck.

Run the pinch tonight. Then get the four-layer read from a board-certified general surgeon who’s comfortable telling you to wait, or to do something else entirely, when that’s the correct answer. Whichever way it lands, you’ll leave knowing exactly where you stand.
