Jawline Fillers In Oldsmar, FL
Jawline filler is a structural gel placed along the jawbone and chin to sharpen a profile that has lost its edge. A session takes 30 to 45 minutes, and the new line shows before you leave. It works when the softness comes from missing bone support, so Formation’s first job is finding out whether that’s your problem.
What Jawline Filler Can And Can't Do
Filler builds structure. Placed against the bone, it sharpens a jaw angle that blurs into the neck and brings a chin that sits back into line with the lips.
It doesn’t subtract. Gel can’t dissolve a fat pad under the chin or pull up skin that has stopped springing back. Add volume on top of either and the lower face reads heavier.
So the first decision is whether your jaw is missing something or carrying something extra. The product comes second. Formation follows that order for every patient asking about jawline fillers in Tampa, and the order doesn’t change for a drive in from the top of the bay.
The Four-Layer Neck Read
Before product comes up, Dr. Grandhige reads the lower face in four layers: fat, the platysma muscle, skin, and the bony frame of chin and jaw. Most jawlines show aging in more than one layer at once. Treat one and the other three keep blurring the line.
Layer One: Fat
Fat under the chin and along the jaw border hides good bone. It gets removed, not filled. Chin and neck liposuction is done in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, through small openings under the chin and behind the ears. Most people return to work and training in about a week, with a chin garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day. The result depends on skin shrinking back, so it suits a skin age of roughly 25 to 55.
One patient in his 40s, fit everywhere else, said his neck had always looked heavy and he hated photos. His problem was fat, so filler would have made it fuller. After targeted neck liposuction, he started getting into pictures again.
Layer Two: The Platysma
The platysma is the thin sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate, they show as platysmal bands, vertical cords that appear when you strain. Gel along the jaw won’t hide them. Where bands are present, the answer is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty.
Layer Three: Skin
Skin that has lost its recoil needs tightening, since volume only stretches it further. That’s the job of FaceTite, a radiofrequency tightening device that works from beneath the skin. When laxity is past what tightening can reach, Dr. Grandhige says so and names a surgeon who does excisional work well.
Layer Four: Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
This is filler’s layer. A chin that sits back makes the profile read weak, and a shallow angle under the ear lets the jaw melt into the neck. Gel placed on the bone rebuilds both. Dr. Grandhige considers jawline contouring one of the most underestimated procedures in aesthetic surgery, because a good result changes how people read you without them knowing why.
Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, can be broken down with hyaluronidase, the accepted reversal, even though the FDA hasn’t approved the enzyme for that use. Its jawline product, Volux XC, gained its jawline approval in July 2022. Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, holds a firmer shape and has no specific reversal agent. Its lidocaine formulation, Radiesse (+), received a jawline approval in September 2021. Both jawline approvals cover adults over 21. Radiesse’s calcium particles show up on X-rays and CT scans, so tell your dentist it’s there.
When someone asks for a superhero jawline, this is where that conversation happens. The chin often carries more of the correction than the jaw border, so the side view matters more than the mirror.
Who Jawline Filler Suits In Oldsmar
Filler suits a jaw that’s short on structure. It doesn’t suit one carrying fat, loose skin or oversized muscle, and age alone doesn’t rule anyone in or out.
Oldsmar skews younger than the trial behind the Volux approval. At the 2020 census, roughly seven in ten Oldsmar residents aged 20 or older were under 60, and 2,455 of the city’s 14,898 people were 65 or older. The trial’s treated group had a median age of 60. Split at the whole study’s median age of 59, treated participants at or below it met the improvement standard 76 percent of the time, against 64 percent above it. That gap was too small to rule out chance. Older jaws still responded about two times in three, and skin laxity decides candidacy more than a birth year does.
The trial’s limits matter at both ends. It enrolled only jaws graded moderate or severe on a five-step scale, so a barely soft jaw and one with jowls hanging well below the line were both outside it. It also excluded severe fat under the chin, severe skin laxity, and a midface so hollow that rebuilding the lower face could look unbalanced. Filler has no approval-grade evidence in those groups.
A jaw that looks wide because the chewing muscle is oversized needs jaw slimming Botox, a botulinum toxin, not filler. Gel on a jaw that’s already wide makes it wider.
Getting Here From Oldsmar
Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in South Tampa, about 14 miles southeast of Oldsmar as the crow flies.
Tampa Road, which carries State Road 580, leads east out of Oldsmar and crosses into Hillsborough County at Race Track Road, where the same highway becomes Hillsborough Avenue. Take the Veterans Expressway south from Hillsborough Avenue. It feeds directly onto Memorial Highway past the airport, and Memorial Highway becomes Kennedy Boulevard at WestShore Plaza. Follow Kennedy east to Howard Avenue and turn south.
Without the expressway, stay on Hillsborough Avenue to Dale Mabry Highway and head south, but that stretch backs up at rush hour. Formation is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, so a late-morning slot avoids the worst of it.
The complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna happens from home, before you commit to the drive. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee that applies toward any procedure or product at Formation.
Technique And Safety Along The Jaw
The jaw moves every time you chew or talk, and it sits over vessels that don’t forgive mistakes.
Movement first. In the Volux approval trial, the most common treatment-related problem was a chewing complaint in 2 percent of treated participants. Most were mild, all cleared within three days, and formal testing found no effect on chewing, jaw mobility or speech.
Vessels second. The facial artery crosses the lower jaw border just in front of the chewing muscle, and filler that enters a vessel can block it. A blunt cannula enters through one small opening and is built to slide past vessels rather than pierce them. That lowers the risk without removing it. The trial used one specific 25-gauge cannula, the only cannula recommended for Volux. Cannula-treated participants had a 73.5 percent responder rate against 66.7 percent for needle only, and side effects in 6.5 percent against 9.4 percent. Neither gap ruled out chance.
One finding about the bone itself is worth knowing. In its August 2025 dermal filler briefing, the FDA counted 3 adverse-event reports and up to 60 published cases of bone resorption in the chin, jaw, midface or forehead after hyaluronic acid was placed directly on the bone. None caused symptoms, and all were found on imaging done for other reasons. Every report involved hyaluronic acid, and none can show how often it happens. That’s one more reason to use the least product that does the job.
Dr. Grandhige is certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and specializes in aesthetic surgery. He trained at the University of Michigan Medical School, completed a full general surgery residency, and did fellowship training in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery. Fifteen-plus years in, that’s several thousand procedures.
roduct Volume And Visit Count
A full jawline usually takes several milliliters and often a second visit. The FDA summary of the Volux approval trial has the clearest public numbers. The median first treatment was 4.35 mL, and most participants came back for an optional touch-up at one month that added a median of 2 mL. Across those two sessions, totals ranged from 1 to 9.3 mL. A year later, a median maintenance dose of 3 mL produced results similar to the first round.
Formation quotes 12 to 18 months of wear, depending on the product and how fast your body breaks it down. The trial gives a useful check at the one-year mark: 61 percent of treated participants still met the improvement standard at 12 months.
Restraint drives Dr. Grandhige’s plans. Hyaluronic acid can be added in stages, and adding later is easier than taking product out, especially with Radiesse. Only 16 of the 157 people in the treated group were men, so the data says little about a male jaw. That’s why jawline filler for men follows its own plan.
Preparation Before And After Treatment
Health and diet are assessed before anything is placed. In the window right before and after treatment, nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted so your body builds the most structure it can around the product.
Bleeding risk gets its own conversation. The approval trial required a 10-day break from aspirin, ibuprofen and supplements like garlic or ginkgo before injection, so expect to discuss pausing those. Prescription blood thinners are different. Don’t stop one for a cosmetic appointment without the doctor who prescribed it.
Formation’s 60/40 Recovery Standard applies here too. Placement is 60 percent of the result, and what happens around it is the other 40.
Any office on either side of the bay can order the same syringe. The instrument is identical everywhere. The thinking around it isn’t.
Downtime And Planning Around Events
Most people go back to work the same day. Mild swelling or bruising usually clears in a few days, strenuous exercise waits 24 to 48 hours, and the shape settles over about two weeks.
Lumps are what to plan around. In the trial, most injection-site reactions were mild or moderate and faded within two weeks, but about a third of participants reported lumps or bumps lasting 15 to 30 days. Leave at least a month before a wedding or a photo-heavy trip. For December holiday photos, that means booking by early November.
This isn’t traditional lipo. It’s HD lipo.
For this patient, getting smaller isn’t the goal.
He already works out. He already has the muscle. Dr. Gopal’s job is to use HD liposuction to bring out more of that existing definition and shape the areas around it so the body looks more athletic and defined.
That’s why the markings matter. Before surgery even begins, Dr. Gopal is mapping out how the abs, chest, arms and surrounding areas should work together in the final result.

This is the part of the job that never gets old.
There’s something special about knowing how different a patient’s life might feel on the other side.
Not just because their body may look different, but because of everything that can come with it.
Feeling more comfortable in their own skin.
Saying yes to plans without thinking twice.
Looking forward to summer instead of dreading it.
Plastic surgery can change a body. But sometimes, what matters most is how differently someone gets to experience their life afterward.
And that’s a pretty incredible part of what we get to do at Formation Tampa.

Three small incisions instead of one long one.
For some patients with diastasis recti, repairing the separated abdominal muscles doesn’t necessarily require a traditional tummy tuck.
A tummy tuck makes sense when there’s loose skin that needs to be removed at the same time. But some patients are lean, don’t have much loose skin, and still have that persistent pooch from muscle separation.
For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can repair the diastasis using a minimally invasive robotic approach through three small incisions, about 8 mm each, hidden along the bikini line.
The key is choosing the right procedure for the right anatomy. If there’s significant loose skin or excess fat, repairing the muscles alone may actually make that looseness more noticeable.
That’s why the consultation matters. It’s not just about seeing a belly pooch. It’s about understanding what’s causing it and what actually needs to be addressed.

How defined would you go?
Not everyone wants the same look from HD liposuction. Some prefer a smooth, subtle contour, while others want their abs to stand out.
Here’s how the three levels of definition differ:
01. Low definition: A smoother, more subtle contour with gentle definition around the waist and abdomen.
02. Medium definition: More visible abdominal lines and a defined waist, without the appearance of a pronounced six-pack.
03. High definition: More pronounced abdominal contours that highlight the underlying muscle structure for a sculpted, athletic look.
Dr. Gopal tailors his HD liposuction technique to the level of definition you’re looking for, while considering what’s achievable for your body.
Which would you choose: 1, 2 or 3? Tell us in the comments!

The last one got 11/10.
Some of the biggest factors affecting liposuction results have nothing to do with what happens in the operating room.
Dr. Gopal rates 13 factors that can influence the final result, from working out before surgery and maintaining a stable weight to compression garments, skin elasticity, and lymphatic massage.
A few of his ratings might surprise you.
For example, he rates skin elasticity a 10/10 because even after the fat is removed, the skin still needs to contract and settle over the new contour.
And lymphatic massage? He gives it an 11/10 because of the role it plays in his recovery protocol, helping manage swelling and supporting how the skin settles over the newly sculpted areas.
The takeaway: great liposuction results depend on more than the surgery itself.
Patient preparation, anatomy, recovery, and long-term weight maintenance all play a role.

Six to seven hours.
That’s how long an HD liposuction procedure can take with Dr. Gopal’s approach.
He’s not simply removing fat. He’s evaluating every square inch, considering the underlying anatomy, and shaping how each contour transitions into the next.
It’s detailed, physically demanding work.
So when Dr. Gopal says, “Someone’s gotta sweat for the fat to come off,” he means it.

Will neck lipo give you the jawline you want?
It depends…
Someone can have fullness under the chin and assume the answer is neck liposuction. But what looks like “fat” from the outside can actually come from several different structures.
Some fat sits directly beneath the skin and can respond very well to liposuction.
But fullness can also come from deeper fat beneath the platysma, the salivary glands under the jaw, muscles under the chin, or even the natural projection of the chin and jaw itself.
That distinction can completely change what neck liposuction can realistically accomplish.
This is why evaluating the anatomy matters before deciding on a procedure.
For the right anatomy, neck liposuction can create a significant change in the neck and jawline.
But when deeper structures are contributing to the fullness, liposuction alone may not create the contour someone is expecting.
A good neck lipo consultation should figure that out first.

Want more definition than workouts gave you?
Traditional liposuction focuses primarily on removing fat. HD liposuction goes further. It requires understanding the underlying muscle anatomy, where to remove fat, where to preserve it, and how each contour works together to create natural-looking definition.
That’s the art of it. The goal isn’t to give every patient the same abs or the same body. It’s to work with the anatomy that’s already there and determine how much definition will look right for that individual.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige specializes in high-definition liposuction and advanced body contouring, using nearly two decades of surgical experience to create results that look sculpted, athletic, and intentional.

Defined abs with HD liposuction.
Unlike traditional liposuction, where the primary goal is removing excess fat, HD liposuction is about strategically removing fat to reveal and enhance the underlying muscle structure.
Those markings you see before surgery help Dr. Gopal map out the patient’s anatomy and plan where to remove fat and where to preserve it to create more visible definition.
The second clip was taken immediately after surgery, so this is not the final result. Swelling and bruising will change significantly as the body heals and the final contour develops over the months that follow.

Questions Worth Asking Any Injector
If you’re weighing a shorter drive against the trip across the county line, these questions sort the options anywhere.
- Which product is going in, and is it approved for the jawline?
- How many milliliters do you expect, over how many visits? A vague answer usually means the plan isn’t built yet.
- Ask whether a needle or a cannula will be used, and where.
- What happens if the read finds fat, loose skin or muscle instead? A plan with one tool in it has one answer.
- Look for before-and-after photos of patients whose “before” looks like you, which is Dr. Grandhige’s own test. Formation’s before-and-after gallery is a place to start.
And if everything sounds easy or guaranteed, Dr. Grandhige’s advice is to treat that as a red flag.
Start With The Complimentary Virtual Evaluation
Patient coordinator Hanna runs a complimentary virtual evaluation from wherever you are. She assesses your goals and outlines a likely plan, so you know whether the drive is worth making.
The In-Office Consultation
The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee because it’s a full surgical assessment, not a sales meeting. He reads all four layers, tells you which ones filler can reach, and explains what he won’t do and why. The fee applies toward any procedure or product at Formation. Patients often tell the staff what they don’t say to the surgeon, so the staff passes those concerns along and he addresses them without you having to ask.
Treatment Day
The area is cleaned, topical numbing cream goes on, and the fillers themselves contain lidocaine. Product goes along the jaw and, where balance calls for it, the chin. The session runs 30 to 45 minutes.
Follow-Up
You come back at one to two weeks, once the gel has settled, to check the result and plan any touch-up. If the read turns up a layer injectables can’t reach, Dr. Grandhige plans the liposuction or tightening himself. Anything past Formation’s scope goes to a surgeon who does that work well.
Frequently Asked Questions
Formation quotes 12 to 18 months, depending on the product and how quickly your body breaks it down. In the Volux approval trial, 61 percent of treated participants still met the improvement standard at 12 months. Plan on a maintenance visit around the one-year mark.
Most people describe pressure more than pain. Numbing cream goes on first and the fillers contain lidocaine. Trial participants rated pain right after injection at a median 2 out of 10, and tenderness for a few days is common.
Most people go back to work the same day. Strenuous exercise waits 24 to 48 hours, and swelling or bruising usually clears within a few days. Lumps can take 15 to 30 days to fade, so book at least a month before a big event.
No. A double chin is usually fat and sometimes loose skin, and gel on top of either makes the area fuller. Fat is removed with liposuction and loose skin is tightened. The evaluation tells you which one you have.
Age alone rarely decides it. The Volux trial treated adults from 26 to 79, and older participants still met the improvement standard about two times in three. Skin laxity and jaw structure matter more than your birth year.
Looking obvious is the fear patients raise most often at Formation, so plans are built around restraint, with more product only if the follow-up calls for it. Done conservatively, people notice you look sharper or more rested without pinning it on anything.
The virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna is complimentary and happens from home. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee because it's a full surgical assessment, and the fee applies toward any procedure or product at Formation.
Take Tampa Road east into Hillsborough County, where it continues as Hillsborough Avenue, then the Veterans Expressway south onto Memorial Highway and Kennedy Boulevard east to Howard Avenue. The office is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in South Tampa, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
