Neck And Jawline Contouring In South Nebraska, FL

Neck and jawline contouring takes out the fat that softens your profile and tightens the skin over what’s left, so the line from your chin to your ear shows again. At Formation, most neck cases are done in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative. There’s no general anesthesia or hospital stay, and most people are back at work in about a week. From South Nebraska, the office is about 4 miles away, just across the Hillsborough River.

What Neck And Jawline Contouring Does

Contouring works on the angle where your jaw meets your neck. Dr. Grandhige removes fat with high-definition neck liposuction through small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. He then tightens the skin over the new contour with Renuvion, a helium plasma energy device, or FaceTite, a radiofrequency contouring device.

Fat comes out with restraint, and your natural jaw angles stay put. Taking too much is how a double chin turns into loose skin and irregularities that age badly, so the plan stops short of that. The fat cells removed don’t come back.

Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once. Which layers are involved decides the plan, and sometimes it decides that surgery isn’t the right call yet.

The Four-Layer Neck Read

The Four-Layer Neck Read is how Dr. Grandhige plans every neck. He checks four layers by hand, and each one has its own fix. A plan built around a single tool leaves the other three problems exactly where they were.

Layer One, Fat

With your chin down and jaw relaxed, he pinches the tissue between skin and muscle. A pinchable layer means there’s fat for liposuction to take out. Nothing to pinch means fat removal won’t change your profile. This is the pad that hangs on through diet and training, even in people close to their goal weight.

Layer Two, The Platysma And Platysmal Bands

The platysma is a thin sheet of muscle running from the chest up over the jawline. When its edges separate, they show as vertical cords called platysmal bands. Bands that appear only when you tense usually respond to Botox, a botulinum toxin injection. Bands visible at rest are structural, and for those the answer is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, paired with platysmaplasty. The suture is nonabsorbable and can be removed, unlike barbed threads that dissolve, and the lift is there the day it’s placed.

The main published data on MyEllevate comes from a multicenter review of 391 patients. Bands returned in 4.6 percent, and 1.8 percent still had loose skin. Four patients, about 1 percent, developed a suture-site infection, and three of them had the suture removed. Mean follow-up was about eight months. The review covered the percutaneous version, where bands are divided through small punctures, and excluded anyone who needed a neck incision longer than 5 millimeters. Read its numbers as a benchmark for that version, not as Formation’s own rates.

Layer Three, Skin And The Fibroseptal Network

Dr. Grandhige tests this layer by hand too. His working window for neck contouring is a skin age of roughly 25 to 55, and sun history, weight history and genetics move people in both directions. Renuvion and FaceTite reach the deepest layer of the skin and the fibroseptal network beneath it, the connective tissue foundation between skin and muscle. Lasers and microneedling work from the top down and can’t get there. Tightening is the slowest part of the result, which is why it shows months after the fat removal does.

Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle

Your frame sets the ceiling on the result. A recessed chin behind a full neck is a different problem from a strong jaw hidden under fat. Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, and Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, add projection along the bone, which is the work of jawline fillers. Neither one removes fat or tightens skin, and volume added above a loose neck reads heavier rather than sharper. A superhero jawline is a frame question before it’s a fat question.

What GLP-1 Weight Loss Changes In A Jawline

Fast weight loss on a GLP-1 medication often turns a neck into a skin problem, because volume leaves faster than skin can shrink to meet it. In the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ 2025 data, 64 percent of surveyed member surgeons reported GLP-1-related consultations for neck lifts. The society notes that consultations aren’t completed procedures.

For your read, a GLP-1 history shifts the plan toward layer three, with less fat removed or none. Liposuction works best near your goal weight, so if the scale is still moving, waiting for it to settle is often the better call.

Two Ways To Start With Us

The Formation Staging Line decides whether your plan fits one operation or two. One operation covers what stays within the volume limit for your plan and within a session length that heals predictably. Anything past either line becomes a second stage.

For surgery in a physician’s office, Florida’s office surgery rule sets the volume limit at 4,000 cc of supernatant fat. The limit drops to 1,000 cc when liposuction is combined with an abdominoplasty or a directly related procedure. Supernatant fat is the layer of fat that settles out of what the cannula collects, once the tumescent fluid and blood separate below it. The total volume suctioned is larger than the number the rule counts.

The same rule caps tumescent lidocaine at 50 mg per kilogram of body weight. For someone who weighs 70 kg (about 154 pounds), that ceiling is 3,500 mg, and it’s a ceiling, not a target.

A whole-torso plan can be done as Lipo360, with the front, sides and back treated together, then staged when the volume calls for it.

How Formation Prepares You And Runs Your Recovery

Your health and diet are assessed before treatment. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and after the procedure, so your body builds the most structure it can while it heals. Guidance on inflammation, protein intake and lymphatic flow is part of the plan from the first visit, along with instructions for the chin garment. The reasoning behind it is laid out in Formation’s philosophy.

In South Nebraska, the food side of that plan has a neighbor. Dr. Grandhige supports Meacham Urban Farm, the two-acre farm on East Scott Street inside ENCORE!, and its farm store sells produce, eggs and meat a short walk from most of the neighborhood.

Dr. Grandhige counts the surgery as 60 percent of the outcome and the recovery as 40 percent. That’s the 60/40 Recovery Standard, and it’s why Formation runs your post-op care itself. Poor aftercare can undo a well-performed surgery.

Other practices use the same Renuvion and FaceTite devices. The instrument is identical at every practice. The thinking around it isn’t.

Getting Here From South Nebraska

Formation sits at 1315 South Howard Avenue in SoHo, about 4 miles from South Nebraska and roughly 15 minutes by car outside rush hour. It’s the same office, surgeon and team behind all of Formation’s neck and jawline contouring in Tampa.

South Nebraska here means the neighborhood also called Central Park, in ZIP codes 33602 and 33605. It’s bounded by Palm Avenue to the north, Florida Avenue to the west, downtown to the south and Ybor City to the east. Central Avenue once anchored Tampa’s Black business district here, and Perry Harvey Sr. Park now marks that history beside the ENCORE! redevelopment.

Most trips run west on Kennedy Boulevard across the river, then south on Howard Avenue. Downtown traffic peaks at the start and end of the workday, so a mid-morning appointment is the easy one.

Procedure day needs a driver, since you’ll have taken an oral sedative. At this distance, recovering at home is realistic, and the early post-op visits are a short trip. If you work downtown, plan to spend the first week away from the office. Save Riverwalk runs for the one-week mark, when training resumes. Dr. Grandhige follows patients for a full year, and nearly all Formation patients complete it.

What Contouring Won't Do And What Can Go Wrong

Contouring changes how your neck looks. It won’t lift heavy, hanging skin or fix fullness that has a medical cause.

Skin that hangs at rest has to be removed with a lift, and that isn’t a procedure Dr. Grandhige performs. Formation stays in contact with the surgeons who do that work well and points you to the right one instead of selling you something smaller. An enlarged salivary gland or a thyroid problem can also read as fullness, and both get checked medically first.

Know Renuvion’s history before you agree to it. In March 2022 the FDA warned against using it to tighten skin, which it hadn’t yet been cleared to do. In July 2022 the agency cleared the Renuvion APR handpiece through 510(k) for improving loose skin in the neck and under the chin. In the trial behind that clearance, blinded reviewers rated 52 of 63 patients improved at six months. The study had no control group and ended at six months, so it can’t tell you how tightening holds years out.

Risks are uncommon, and they’re real. The marginal mandibular nerve is a small branch that crosses the jawline and moves your lower lip. In the same MyEllevate review, four of 391 patients had temporary weakness of that nerve. Swelling and firmness take weeks to settle. Tell Dr. Grandhige if you’ve ever formed a keloid, since the incisions sit under the chin and behind the ears. Mention it too if your skin darkens after a cut or burn, because tightening works with heat.

What Recovery Looks Like

Most patients are back at work and back to training at about one week, with a chin compression garment on. The final jawline shows between six and nine months.

The First Few Days

Expect mild swelling, some bruising and a tight feeling under the chin, with the chin garment on from the start. You’ll look puffier before you look sharper.

Week One

You’re back to work and social plans, with the garment on 12 to 24 hours a day. Training resumes at about this point.

Weeks Two To Four

Swelling keeps settling, and the fat removal starts to show in your profile.

Three To Nine Months

Skin tightening shows around three months, with a clearly sharper jawline. The final result lands between six and nine months. If a wedding, a reunion or a photo-heavy trip is coming up, count back from that date before you book.

Crunches can only do so much. You can spend hours strengthening your abdominal muscles, but that doesn’t guarantee visible definition.A layer of fat sits between the muscles and the skin, and crunches can’t specifically target that fat.For many people, exercise and reducing overall body fat can help reveal their abs. But even people who are already lean and fit can have stubborn fat that hides their natural muscle definition. That’s where high-definition liposuction may help.Dr. Gopal uses HD lipo to selectively remove fat around the natural contours of the abdominal muscles, helping reveal the definition that’s already there.📍 Formation | South TampaInterested in HD lipo? Which one had surgery 1 or 2? 👀High-definition liposuction goes beyond traditional fat removal. Instead of simply reducing fat evenly, the surgeon strategically removes fat around the underlying muscles to make their natural contours more visible. But here’s what makes it interesting: HD lipo doesn’t create the same six-pack on everyone. Each person’s anatomy, muscle development, and desired level of definition influence the final result. Now take another look at these two patients.Which one do you think had HD liposuction, 1 or 2?Drop your guess below, then check the pinned comment for the answer!#HDLiposuction #MaleLiposuction #BodyContouring #Tampa

There’s a story behind every decision.Cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. Yet people who choose it often find themselves having to explain or defend that choice to others. Some want to restore changes after pregnancy or weight loss. Others have worked hard to get in shape but still have areas they’d like to improve. And some simply want to feel more comfortable with their appearance. The reasons are different for everyone. And they don’t have to make sense to anyone else.At Formation, Dr. Gopal believes the decision to pursue cosmetic surgery should be guided by a patient’s personal goals, realistic expectations, and what’s medically appropriate for them.Because ultimately, the person making that decision is the one who will live with it.#Tampa #CosmeticSurgery #BodyContouring #Liposuction

What weight loss can’t fix. After losing over 100 pounds, this patient had achieved significant weight loss, but was left with excess skin around his abdomen and back that weight loss alone couldn’t address.During an 8-hour surgery, Dr. Gopal performed a circumferential body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin around the entire midsection to improve body contour. In this video, Dr. Gopal walks through the procedure, explaining how he removed approximately 3 pounds of skin from the back and estimated another 4–5 pounds would be removed from the abdomen. He’s also using a small amount of fat collected during the procedure to add volume to the upper chest, improving its contour without performing a separate chest lift. For patients who have experienced major weight loss, body contouring can help address the excess skin that remains after the weight is gone.Considering surgery after weight loss? Your fat is liquid gold. The fat you don’t want might be exactly what another part of your body needs.During liposuction, the fat we remove doesn’t always have to be discarded. In fact, Dr. Gopal refers to it as “liquid gold.”Why? Because that fat can sometimes be transferred to another area of the body to add volume, enhance natural contours, and create a more balanced shape. For women, that might mean adding volume to the breasts, hips, or buttocks. For men, fat transfer can help enhance the chest or shoulders. And because we’re using your own fat, we can potentially improve two areas during the same surgery.Of course, fat transfer isn’t right for everyone. It’s something Dr. Gopal discusses with patients beforehand and incorporates into the surgical plan when appropriate.Considering liposuction in Tampa? A flatter stomach without a tummy tuck? 👀Pregnancy, and sometimes increased pressure from fat deep inside the abdomen, can cause the abdominal muscles to separate down the middle. This is called diastasis recti, and it can make your belly stick out even if you’re otherwise lean.Traditionally, repairing that separation often meant undergoing a tummy tuck. But what if you don’t have much loose skin to remove? For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can use robotic-assisted surgery to bring those separated muscles back together through three small incisions, without the long scar associated with a traditional tummy tuck. That’s exactly what he did for the patient in these before-and-after photos. No tummy tuck. No additional procedures.**But this approach isn’t for everyone.** If you have significant loose skin or excess fat, a different treatment may be more appropriate. That’s why understanding what’s causing your belly to protrude matters before deciding on surgery.Curious whether you’re a candidate? Who Performs Your Case

Dr. Gopal Grandhige is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. He designs the plan and personally performs every neck and jaw case at Formation, and neck and jawline contouring is among the procedures he does most often.

He trained at the University of Michigan Medical School and matched into a six-year combined plastic surgery residency at Yale. He then changed course to complete a full general surgery residency, followed by fellowships in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery. Over more than 15 years he has performed several thousand procedures. His board certification can be checked with the American Board of Surgery, and there’s more in Dr. Grandhige’s background.

Burn surgery and critical care center on how tissue heals, the same question behind layer three. Formation performs its surgeries in Quad A accredited facilities. The same anesthesia provider and staff work on his cases, and his own physician assistant is at every surgery.

What Results Look Like

The best outcome is one nobody can name. People say you look rested or fitter and can’t say why. Not looking natural is the fear Dr. Grandhige hears most, and conservative, anatomy-driven contouring is his answer to it.

One Formation patient, a fit professional in his 40s, had always carried fullness under his chin that never moved with weight loss, and he hated how he looked in photos. Dr. Grandhige performed targeted neck liposuction with precise jawline contouring, kept his natural angles and avoided aggressive tightening. Colleagues remarked that he looked more rested. He felt his face and neck finally matched the rest of his body. He grew more confident in photos and on video calls, and he started showing up in pictures.

Results hold. Removed fat cells don’t return. Aging continues, but clearing excess fat here can reset the clock on future laxity. More of Formation’s work is in the before and after gallery.

Frequently Asked Questions

You're likely a fit if a double chin or soft jawline bothers you, you're near your goal weight, and your skin still has reasonable elasticity, roughly a skin age of 25 to 55. The Four-Layer Neck Read settles it, and sometimes the honest answer is a different procedure or none at all.

No. Most neck and jaw cases at Formation are done in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative. You go home the same day with a driver, and from South Nebraska that's a short ride.

Most patients return to work and training at about one week, with a chin compression garment on 12 to 24 hours a day that first week. Tightening shows around three months, and the final result lands between six and nine months.

It depends on when the cords show. Bands that appear only when you tense usually respond to Botox. Bands visible at rest are structural and call for MyEllevate paired with platysmaplasty.

It can when too much comes out, which is why Dr. Grandhige removes fat with restraint and reads your skin before planning. If the skin needs it, tightening is part of the plan, and if skin hangs at rest, he refers you to a surgeon who performs lifts.

The suture is nonabsorbable, so it isn't designed to dissolve, and it can be removed if needed. A multicenter review followed 391 patients for about eight months on average, so long-term durability data is still limited.

Yes. Dr. Grandhige asks what you've already tried at every consultation, so bring a list of past injections, energy treatments or threads in the area, with dates if you have them.

The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee because it's a full surgical assessment, and the fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice. Formation also offers a complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna if you'd like to talk through your goals first.
