Jawline filler adds structure along the mandible and chin so a soft lower face reads sharper in profile. The appointment runs under an hour, you drive yourself home, and the final shape settles over about two weeks. The harder question is whether your jaw needs anything added at all, and that is where a plan at Formation starts.

Filler needs skin with recoil to read as a clean edge. Skin roughly in the 25 to 55 range holds a defined line well. Past that, or once real laxity has set in, product pushes against soft tissue instead of creating a border, and the face reads fuller rather than sharper.
Temple Terrace shows up in this part of the exam more than people expect. The city was planned in the 1920s around the golf course that still sits at its center on Inverness Avenue, and it has stayed an outdoor place. Decades of Florida sun cost skin quality, and skin quality decides whether filler can hold an edge. A short chin or a weak posterior jaw angle is a frame problem, and the frame is where filler earns its place. Product placed along the mandibular border and at the gonial angle builds structure that was never there or has faded with age.
Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, gets chosen when the goal is structural hold. Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, gets chosen when reversibility matters more, since hyaluronic acid can be dissolved. Both sit against bone. A superhero jawline is not the target. The target is a chin and an angle that make the rest of the face make sense. Once the layers are read, the plan comes down to one of three answers.
Add applies when the border is intact and the frame is short. The chin sits back, the angle is soft, the skin still recoils, and there is no meaningful pad underneath. That jaw takes volume well, and filler is the right tool.
Subtract applies when the border is buried. There is structure under there and it is covered. Adding to a full lower face compounds the problem, which is why some patients leave a jawline consultation here with a recommendation for fat removal instead of a syringe.
Neither applies to a third group. A wide lower face driven by heavy chewing muscle is not a volume problem in either direction, and filler makes it wider. Masseter Botox, a botulinum toxin, narrows the muscle instead.
Jaws showing two findings at once do better staged across separate visits than stacked into one appointment. Dr. Grandhige is willing to say the plan is to wait. His own advice on choosing a surgeon applies here: if everything sounds easy or guaranteed, treat it as a red flag.
Filler will not remove a double chin. It can sharpen the border enough to camouflage mild fullness, which is a real effect, but fat reduction needs a different instrument.
Three other limits deserve room, because they are where dissatisfaction actually comes from.
Product can migrate. Placement plane and volume per session are what keep it where it was put, which is one reason a jaw plan is better staged across two visits than delivered in one.
Overfilling settles heavier. A jaw that looked sharp on day one can read fuller at week three, because swelling was doing part of the work. Book your review at the two-week mark rather than waiting to see whether it settles on its own.
Longevity varies more than the marketing suggests. Metabolism, chewing load, and sun exposure all shorten the window, and an outdoor life in this part of the county is not neutral on that.
On safety, the risk that matters is vascular. The FDA regulates dermal fillers as Class III devices approved through premarket review, with the jawline and chin among the approved facial indications, and its guidance on dermal fillers identifies unintentional injection into a blood vessel as the most serious complication. Events are uncommon in trained hands. What lowers the odds is anatomical knowledge, cannula use where the anatomy allows it, and keeping the reversal agent in the building rather than on order.
