FaceTite In Apollo Beach, FL
FaceTite tightens loose skin under the chin and along the jawline without a facelift incision. It’s a radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis device that heats tissue from beneath the skin through punctures small enough to skip stitches, and at Formation it’s performed in the office with an oral sedative and local anesthesia. Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once. That’s why single-treatment answers disappoint people. Dr. Grandhige reads four layers at consultation and matches each one to its own solution.
Layer One, Fat Under The Chin And Along The Jawline
Fat blurs the line between jaw and neck. It responds to removal, not to tightening. If fat is the dominant problem, energy alone leaves you disappointed. This is handled with awake liposuction through the same small incisions used for the FaceTite pass, under the chin and behind the ears.
Layer Two, The Platysma And Platysmal Bands
The platysma is the sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate with age, they show as two vertical cords that get sharper when you clench. No amount of skin tightening moves a muscle band. MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty is the answer at this layer, and only when bands are actually present.
Layer Three, Skin And The Fibroseptal Network
This is FaceTite’s layer. Skin that has lost recoil, sitting on a loosened scaffold. Dr. Grandhige assesses elasticity by hand, and the workable window runs roughly from skin age 25 to 55. Past that, tightening buys less than the marketing suggests.
Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Some people don’t have a skin problem. They have a frame problem. A recessed chin makes a normal amount of submental fat read as a double chin, and no tightening fixes bone geometry. Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, can add structural projection at the chin and along the angle. Build the frame first and you get a superhero jawline from less work everywhere else.
What The Research Actually Supports
The most-cited FaceTite evidence is a 2020 multicenter review of 247 patients treating lower face and neck laxity. Baker Face/Neck scores improved by an average of 1.4 points. Ninety-three percent said they’d do it again. Nearly all of it, 97 percent, was done under local anesthesia.
Complications were uncommon and all resolved without further treatment: swelling past six weeks in 4.8 percent, a firm area past twelve weeks in 3.2 percent, and temporary weakness of the marginal mandibular nerve in 1.2 percent, which looks like a slightly uneven smile until the nerve recovers.
Now the parts that rarely make it onto a clinic page.
The study was retrospective with no control group. Average follow-up was 2.1 years. It does not establish that results hold for five to seven years, which is the number printed on most FaceTite pages in this market. Thirteen of the 247 patients were men, and the average patient was 55. Several authors disclosed consulting relationships with the manufacturer.
None of that makes FaceTite a poor choice. It means the honest durability answer is this: good evidence through roughly two years, and everything past that is extrapolation. You should hear that before you book, not after.
Who FaceTite Fits, And Who Gets Sent Elsewhere
Published work describes a treatment gap that FaceTite fills, and it holds up in practice. Three groups do well:
- Skin laxity too advanced for surface treatments but not advanced enough to justify a facelift
- Recurrent laxity in someone who already had a lift
- Someone who’d benefit from a lift, wants to avoid one, and accepts a more modest result
The people who don’t do well are just as specific. Heavy hanging skin that stays put when you release it. A neck where the platysma has separated badly. Anyone whose skin has stopped recoiling altogether.
Those patients need excisional surgery, and Formation doesn’t perform facelifts or neck lifts. Dr. Grandhige is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in aesthetic surgery, and he stays in contact with the surgeons who do that work well. If that’s what your neck needs, you’ll get pointed to the right person rather than sold a treatment that underdelivers. He turns people away regularly. That’s the job.

What Life On The Water Does To An Apollo Beach Jawline
Apollo Beach is built around water. The canal system, the slips behind Symphony Isles and MiraBay, the runs out to the flats, the afternoons at the Manatee Viewing Center. That lifestyle reaches the jawline and neck before it reaches almost anywhere else.
Water reflects ultraviolet light back upward. The underside of the chin and the front of the neck catch a bounce that a hat brim never blocks, which is why people here often have well-protected foreheads and photoaged necks. UV exposure degrades elastin, and elastin is exactly what lets skin recoil after fat is removed. Two Apollo Beach neighbors the same age can sit in very different elasticity windows depending on how many years they’ve spent on a boat.
That’s also why timing matters locally. The chin garment gets worn 12 to 24 hours a day for the first week. Booking in the cooler months makes that week considerably easier than doing it in August.
No one performs subdermal radiofrequency in Apollo Beach itself. The practices closest to you concentrate on injectables, microneedling and lasers, all of which work from the surface down. Reaching the layer under the skin means a drive: Big Bend Road to I-75 north, then across the Selmon Expressway into South Tampa. Roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic.
What Happens On Procedure Day
The whole thing happens in the office at 1315 South Howard Avenue. No hospital, no general anesthesia.
You take an oral sedative. Local anesthesia goes in. Dr. Grandhige makes very small, discreet incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Fat comes out first, conservatively, preserving the natural jaw angles rather than hollowing them, because over-resection here ages a neck rather than rejuvenating it. Then the FaceTite pass tightens the skin down over the muscle and bone underneath.
Dr. Grandhige performs the procedure himself. His physician assistant, who assists on all of his surgeries, is in the room. The team doesn’t rotate.
You go home the same day. Apollo Beach patients drive themselves back down I-75 with a driver, which is a real advantage over the out-of-state patients Formation puts up in nearby hotels. You’ll see results developing in the before and after gallery, and the honest framing is that early photos show fat removal while the tightening arrives later.
Recovery Week By Week
First few days. Mild swelling, bruising and tightness. The chin compression garment goes on.
One week. Back to work and back to social plans. Garment stays on 12 to 24 hours a day. Back to training at one week.
Two to four weeks. Swelling keeps settling. The fat removal is clearly visible by now. The skin change is not, and this is where people get anxious.
Three months. Tightening becomes visible, with a marked change in the jawline.
Six to nine months. Final result, once the skin has finished contracting.
That two-to-four-week stretch is the one nobody warns patients about. The fat is gone, the skin hasn’t caught up, and some people conclude it didn’t work. It’s the normal middle of the curve.

Health and diet get assessed before anything is scheduled. Nutrition, supplements and peptides get adjusted in the window immediately before and after so the body builds as much structure as it can while it’s healing. Protein intake goes up. Dr. Grandhige puts it at 60/40: the procedure is 60 percent of the result and post-procedure care is the other 40. Poor aftercare can undo good work. That’s the 60/40 Recovery Standard, and it’s why Formation keeps its own post-procedure care rather than handing you off.
Follow-up runs a full year. Nearly all patients complete it.
The handpiece is the same unit sold to every practice that buys the platform. What differs is who assessed your health before it was switched on, and what got dialed in on either side of the appointment. That thinking is the approach the practice was built around.
One patient in their forties, otherwise fit, had a neck that never responded to weight loss and had always disliked photographs. After neck contouring, colleagues told them they looked more rested. The change they mentioned wasn’t the jawline. It was that they started getting into pictures again.
