FaceTite In Temple Terrace, FL
FaceTite tightens loose skin under the chin and along the jaw without a facelift incision. A thin probe passes beneath the skin through a puncture small enough to close on its own, heat is delivered to the layer that anchors skin to muscle, and that layer contracts. Depth of access is the whole argument for energy-based tightening, and collagen remodeling over the following months is the follow-on effect rather than the headline.
FaceTite is 510(k)-cleared by the FDA, which means it was reviewed as substantially equivalent to an existing device rather than approved through the longer premarket approval pathway. That distinction matters when you read marketing copy elsewhere.
What it does not do is lift a muscle, replace lost volume, or remove skin. A device that heats tissue cannot correct a problem that lives somewhere other than tissue quality.
The Four-Layer Neck Read
Dr. Grandhige does not start by asking which device a patient wants. He starts by working out which layer is actually causing the complaint, because four different structures produce four versions of the same photo you dislike. This is the read he performs at every neck and jawline consultation.
Layer One, The Fat
Pinch under your chin. If you can gather a soft pad between two fingers, there is fat there, and no amount of skin tightening removes it. Fat comes out with neck liposuction, done awake in the office through incisions under the chin and behind the ears. FaceTite is frequently paired with it in the same visit rather than used instead of it.
Layer Two, The Platysma Muscle And Platysmal Bands
Clench your jaw and look in a mirror. If two vertical cords stand up from your collarbone toward your chin, that is the platysma, a broad sheet of muscle whose edges have separated. Heat does not fix a separated muscle. Depending on how heavy the banding is, the answer is either Botox to relax the pull or MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, placed with platysmaplasty to bring the edges back together. Reading this layer as a skin problem is the most common mistake made on a neck.
Layer Three, The Skin And Fibroseptal Network
Pull the skin under your jaw gently outward and let go. If it snaps back, the network still works. If it drifts back slowly, it has loosened, and this is the layer FaceTite treats. Renuvion, a helium plasma radiofrequency device, works the same territory and Dr. Grandhige selects between them based on the tissue rather than the label.
Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Some necks look heavy because the frame behind them is set back. A chin that sits behind the lower lip in profile gives fat nowhere to drape. Nothing you do to the soft tissue changes that. Structural filler addresses it, either Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, placed on bone at the chin and along the jaw angle.
Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once. That is why a single-device answer so often disappoints, and why neck and jawline contouring is usually planned as a combination.
Who FaceTite Suits, And Who It Does Not
The tightening response depends on how much recoil your skin still has. Practically, that means skin roughly between the ages of 25 and 55 responds well, and the number on your driver’s license matters less than sun history, weight history and genetics. Fair skin that spent thirty Florida summers outdoors behaves older than its age.
You are a good candidate if your jawline has blurred rather than collapsed, if the skin still returns when you release it, and if you want the change to read as looking rested rather than looking done.
You are not a candidate if there is a fold of skin that hangs at rest, if the neck is banded heavily, or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or working through an active infection. When a neck has passed what tightening can reach, Dr. Grandhige says so and refers outward. Formation stays in contact with the surgeons who do facelift and skin-excision work well, and points patients to the right one rather than selling a treatment that will underdeliver.
There is a newer group worth naming. Patients arriving after substantial weight loss on GLP-1 medications often present with two problems stacked together: loosened skin and lost volume in the face. Tightening the loose part while the face is still emptying produces a result that shifts under you. Dr. Grandhige asks these patients to reach a stable weight first, and then usually plans tightening alongside volume restoration rather than in place of it. Timing is the variable nobody discusses in advance, and it changes outcomes more than device choice does.
What Happens On Treatment Day
Neck and jawline work at Formation is typically done awake, with an oral sedative and local anesthesia, in the office. Incisions are small and placed under the chin and behind the ears. When fat is part of the plan it comes out first, then the probe is passed to tighten skin over the muscle and bone underneath. Dr. Grandhige performs the procedure himself and works with the same anesthesia provider and the same staff on every case, which is a deliberate choice about consistency rather than convenience.
Surgical cases run in Quad A accredited facilities. Dr. Grandhige is certified by the American Board of Surgery as a general surgeon and practices in aesthetic surgery, with fellowship training in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive surgery.
Recovery, Week By Week
The first few days bring mild swelling, some bruising and a tight feeling, and you wear a chin compression garment through them.
At one week you are back at work and back in the gym, still wearing the chin garment 12 to 24 hours a day. Lymphatic treatment starts at your first post-operative visit rather than being suggested to you as an option later.
Between two and four weeks the swelling settles and the fat removal becomes visible. This is the stage where patients stop checking the mirror hourly.
At three months the skin tightening is visible and the jawline has changed shape. Between six and nine months the result is final, because collagen takes that long to finish reorganizing.
The Part Before And After That Sets The Result
Every practice buying a FaceTite handpiece buys the same handpiece. What differs is everything built around it.
Before treatment, health and diet are assessed rather than assumed. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and immediately after, so the body has the raw material to build the most structure it can while the tissue is responding. Protein intake and inflammation control are specified, not left to a printout.
Dr. Grandhige is direct about the ratio: the procedure is 60 percent of the result and post-operative care is 40 percent. Patients traveling from further out use hotels near the practice where Formation holds relationships, and Dr. Grandhige visits them in their rooms during the early days so they do not have to make the drive back in.
