Neck Liposuction In Zephyrhills, FL

Neck liposuction removes the fat that blurs your jawline through incisions small enough to hide under the chin and behind the ears. Most patients are back at work in about a week.

Hanna, Formation’s patient coordinator, reviews your goals from home first. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige is a full surgical assessment with a fee that applies toward any procedure or product at Formation.

What Neck Liposuction Does

Neck liposuction removes the fat under your chin and along your jaw so the line between face and neck shows again. At Formation, Dr. Gopal Grandhige performs it in his South Tampa office with an oral sedative and local anesthesia.

In the same visit he tightens the skin with one of two devices. Renuvion is a helium plasma and radiofrequency device. FaceTite is a radiofrequency skin tightening device. Most patients return to work and to training after one week.

Dr. Grandhige is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. Neck and jawline contouring ranks among the five procedures he performs most often. He keeps his case volume low so he can plan each neck, perform it himself and follow it for a full year.

From Zephyrhills, the trip to 1315 South Howard Avenue runs roughly 35 to 40 miles. Our page on neck liposuction in Tampa covers the procedure in general. This one covers what changes when you’re driving in from Zephyrhills, from how your neck is read to how recovery works around the trip home.

The Four-Layer Neck Read: What Liposuction Fixes and What It Doesn’t

Liposuction fixes one thing well: fat sitting between the skin and the muscle. Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once, so Dr. Grandhige checks four before recommending anything. He calls it the Four-Layer Neck Read, and each layer has its own solution.

Layer One: Fat

This is the soft fullness you can pinch under your chin, the part that stayed put through years of training and careful eating. It’s often genetic, and it’s what liposuction removes. When fat is the main issue and the other three layers check out, liposuction with skin tightening is usually the whole plan.

Layer Two: The Platysma Muscle and Platysmal Bands

The platysma is the thin sheet of muscle just under the neck skin. With age, its edges can show as vertical cords called platysmal bands. Liposuction doesn’t touch them.

Where bands are present, the layer-two solution is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture. It’s placed with platysmaplasty to tighten the muscle itself.

Layer Three: Skin and the Fibroseptal Network

The fibroseptal network is the connective tissue that holds skin to the muscle underneath. When it loosens, skin hangs even after the fat is gone.

Renuvion treats the deepest layer of the skin and that network from below, through the same small incisions used for liposuction. Lasers and microneedling work from the surface down and can’t reach that foundation. Renuvion’s handpiece is 510(k)-cleared to improve the look of loose skin in the neck and under the chin.

Layer Four: Chin Projection and Jaw Angle

Some soft jawlines have little to do with fat. A chin that sits back or a blunted jaw angle can blur the profile of a lean person, and no amount of liposuction adds projection.

Formation may suggest structural filler instead of liposuction or alongside it: Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid. Projection is the frame a superhero jawline sits on, and our jawline fillers page explains how that frame is built.

Why Age Changes the Plan in Zephyrhills

The Skin Elasticity Window

Dr. Grandhige judges candidacy by skin age. His ideal neck liposuction candidate has a skin age roughly between 25 and 55. Inside that window, skin still has enough spring to settle over a new contour.

The 2020 Census put the median age in Zephyrhills at 48.8. Recent American Community Survey estimates count about a third of residents at 65 or older, close to twice the national share. Skin age and birthday age don’t always match, but many Zephyrhills necks sit near the top of the window or past it.

That doesn’t rule anyone out. It changes the read. A Zephyrhills patient in their late 30s with genetic fullness under the chin is often a layer-one case. A patient in their 60s with the same fullness is more likely to need work on the skin or muscle as well, and liposuction alone may not give the result they’re picturing.

When skin needs to be removed rather than tightened, Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do that work well and points you to the right one.

What the Newest National Numbers Show

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons released its 2025 Procedural Statistics Report on September 1, 2026, showing cosmetic surgical procedures up 7% and neck lifts up 21%. Facial fat grafting grew 39%, the largest single-year gain of any procedure tracked. Liposuction slipped about 1%. In the South Atlantic region, which includes Florida, facial fat grafting grew close to 60%.

Those figures come from ASPS member surgeons, so they show a trend among plastic surgery practices, not every neck treated in Florida. ASPS also cautions that its data doesn’t establish what drives growth in any one procedure category. The direction still fits the Four-Layer Neck Read: more patients need skin and structure addressed, not only fat removed.

How the Procedure Works in Dr. Grandhige’s Office

Neck liposuction at Formation is an office procedure. You take an oral sedative to stay relaxed, the area is numbed with local anesthesia, and Dr. Grandhige works through very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears.

He removes fat to sharpen the jawline while keeping your natural angles intact. He also stops short of taking everything he could. Over-removing neck fat leaves irregularities and can make a neck look older down the road, so restraint is part of the technique.

Once the fat is out, Renuvion or FaceTite tightens the skin so it settles over the muscle and bone underneath. Dr. Grandhige performs it himself, with his own physician assistant at his side.

The complimentary virtual evaluation with Hanna can sort out which layer is behind your profile, from home. A full surgical assessment comes at the in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige, and its fee applies toward any procedure or product at Formation.

Recovery Week by Week, Planned Around the Drive Home

You’ll be back at work and back in the gym about one week after neck liposuction. This is the timeline Dr. Grandhige gives his patients:

  • First few days: mild swelling, bruising and tightness, with a chin compression garment on.
  • One week: back to work, social plans and training, wearing the garment 12 to 24 hours a day.
  • Two to four weeks: swelling keeps settling, and the fat removal becomes visible.
  • Three months: skin tightening shows, with a clearer jawline.
  • Six to nine months: the final result, once tightening is complete.

Three details matter more when home is Zephyrhills. Arrange a driver, because the oral sedative means you shouldn’t make the trip back yourself. If you’d rather skip that drive early on, Formation works with hotels near the practice, and Dr. Grandhige visits patients there. Follow-up runs a full year, and nearly every Formation patient keeps those visits.

The 60/40 Recovery Standard

Formation runs on the 60/40 Recovery Standard: the surgery is about 60% of your result, and the care after it is the other 40%. Poor aftercare can undo a well-performed operation, so recovery is managed as closely as the procedure.

The work starts before procedure day. Dr. Grandhige assesses your health and diet first. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are then adjusted in the window just before and just after treatment, so your body builds as much new structure as it can while the skin tightens. Formation builds at least four weeks of preparation into liposuction, with protein guidance, garment instructions and a recovery plan set before you arrive.

The cannula and the Renuvion handpiece are the same instruments at every practice that uses them. The thinking around them isn’t, and that difference sits at the center of Formation’s philosophy.

Meet Dr. Gopal Grandhige

Dr. Gopal Grandhige is a board-certified surgeon, certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, who specializes in aesthetic surgery. He earned his MD at the University of Michigan Medical School and matched into Yale’s six-year combined plastic surgery program. He then changed course to complete a full general surgery residency, followed by fellowships in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery.

Over more than 15 years he has performed several thousand operations. Tampa Magazine has named him a Top Doctor every year from 2023 through 2026.

That training shapes how he plans a neck: around tissue behavior, healing and how the result will age. He’s also willing to tell you liposuction isn’t the answer.

One of his neck patients, a professional in his 40s, had avoided photos for years. His neck had looked full for as long as he could remember, and weight loss never changed it. After targeted neck liposuction that kept his natural angles, coworkers said he looked more rested. He felt his face finally matched the rest of his body, and he started getting into pictures again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Neck Liposuction in Zephyrhills

No. You can start with a complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna, who reviews your goals and outlines a likely plan. If you want to meet Dr. Grandhige, the in-office consultation is a full surgical assessment with a fee that applies toward any procedure or product at Formation.

No. The oral sedative means someone else should drive you home. If you’d rather stay close for the first days, Formation works with nearby hotels, and Dr. Grandhige visits patients there.

No. It’s done in the office with an oral sedative to keep you relaxed and local anesthesia to numb the area. It’s a shorter procedure than body liposuction, which uses general anesthesia in an accredited surgical facility.

About one week for both. You’ll still wear the chin compression garment 12 to 24 hours a day at that point, and swelling keeps settling over the following weeks.

Your skin decides more than your age does. The ideal candidate has a skin age roughly between 25 and 55. Past that, Dr. Grandhige looks closely at the skin and muscle, and if skin needs to be removed rather than tightened, Formation refers you to a surgeon who does that work well.

No. Vertical bands come from the platysma muscle, not fat. Where bands are present, the fix is MyEllevate with platysmaplasty. Formation also offers Botox, a botulinum toxin, as an injectable option covered on our Botox for turkey neck page.

They’re long-lasting. Removed fat cells don’t return, and taking out excess fat here can slow how quickly future laxity shows. Your neck will still age naturally, and weight gain can enlarge the fat cells that remain.

Your Next Step From Zephyrhills

Neck liposuction works best when fat is the main problem and your skin still has spring. When that isn’t the case, the right plan adds tightening, treats the muscle, builds out the chin, or points you to another surgeon. Dr. Grandhige will tell you which before you commit.

Start with the complimentary virtual evaluation with Hanna, or book the in-office consultation, a full surgical assessment whose fee applies toward any procedure or product at Formation. The form below starts either one.

This is not your typical liposuction. 👀Most people think liposuction is simply about removing unwanted fat. But high-definition liposuction takes a different approach. Before surgery, Dr. Gopal carefully maps out the patient’s natural anatomy, marking the chest, abdomen, and waist to guide where fat will be removed and where it should be preserved. Why does that matter?Because removing fat evenly isn’t necessarily going to create definition. HD liposuction uses strategic fat removal to highlight the underlying muscle structure and create a more sculpted, athletic appearance. And those lines? They’re part of the planning that makes this level of precision possible. The photos show an actual patient immediately after surgery. Does fat move after lipo? It’s a common concern, especially when someone notices weight gain in an area that wasn’t treated. Here’s what actually happens. The fat cells removed during liposuction are gone permanently. But if someone gains weight afterward, the remaining fat cells can still grow, including in areas that weren’t treated. The fat didn’t move. The body gained weight. That’s why Dr. Gopal emphasizes being at a weight patients can realistically maintain before surgery. Not the lowest weight they can reach, but one they can sustain long after recovery.Considering liposuction? Schedule a consultation with Dr. Gopal at Formation in Tampa. Don’t plan lipo 2 months before vacation. If the goal is to enjoy a more sculpted, defined body next summer, the planning needs to start months before that.Fall is one of our busiest seasons at Formation, and there’s a reason for it. Many patients are already thinking about how they want to look and feel next summer. But getting there takes time.At Formation, Dr. Gopal requires at least four weeks of preparation before surgery. That time is spent preparing patients physically and mentally for the procedure and recovery. After surgery, swelling needs to go down, the skin needs to contract, and the tissues need time to settle into their new contour. It can take 6–9 months for results to look and feel natural. That’s why Dr. Gopal recommends planning liposuction 6–12 months ahead, especially when there’s a specific season or vacation in mind.If next summer is the goal, now is the time to start the conversation.DM us or Schedule a consultation with Dr. Gopal at Formation in Tampa. How defined would you go?Not everyone wants the same look from HD liposuction. Some prefer a smooth, subtle contour, while others want their abs to stand out. Here’s how the three levels of definition differ:01. Low definition: A leaner, natural-looking abdomen with subtle definition and light contouring around the underlying muscles.02. Medium definition: More visible separation between the abdominal muscles, with added definition through the abs and obliques without a sharply etched six-pack.03. High definition: More pronounced sculpting around the abs and obliques to highlight the underlying muscle structure and create a more chiseled, athletic look.Dr. Gopal tailors his HD liposuction technique to the level of definition you’re looking for, while considering what’s achievable for your body.Which would you choose: 1, 2 or 3? This isn’t traditional lipo. It’s HD lipo. For this patient, getting smaller isn’t the goal.He already works out. He already has the muscle. Dr. Gopal’s job is to use HD liposuction to bring out more of that existing definition and shape the areas around it so the body looks more athletic and defined. That’s why the markings matter. Before surgery even begins, Dr. Gopal is mapping out how the abs, chest, arms and surrounding areas should work together in the final result.Considering HD liposuction in Tampa? This is the part of the job that never gets old. There’s something special about knowing how different a patient’s life might feel on the other side. Not just because their body may look different, but because of everything that can come with it.Feeling more comfortable in their own skin. Saying yes to plans without thinking twice. Looking forward to summer instead of dreading it.Plastic surgery can change a body. Three small incisions instead of one long one.For some patients with diastasis recti, repairing the separated abdominal muscles doesn’t necessarily require a traditional tummy tuck.A tummy tuck makes sense when there’s loose skin that needs to be removed at the same time. But some patients are lean, don’t have much loose skin, and still have that persistent pooch from muscle separation. For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can repair the diastasis using a minimally invasive robotic approach through three small incisions, about 8 mm each, hidden along the bikini line. The key is choosing the right procedure for the right anatomy. If there’s significant loose skin or excess fat, repairing the muscles alone may actually make that looseness more noticeable. That’s why the consultation matters. It’s not just about seeing a belly pooch. It’s about understanding what’s causing it and what actually needs to be addressed.Schedule a consultation with Dr. Gopal at Formation in Tampa to find out which approach makes sense for you.
