FaceTite In Sun City Center, FL
FaceTite tightens loose skin under the chin and along the jaw using radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the skin, through incisions small enough that most patients are back at work in a week. At Formation in Tampa, it is almost never done alone. It follows fat removal, and it is offered only after we have read what is actually loose in your neck.
What FaceTite Does, In Plain Terms
FaceTite is radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis. A thin probe goes under the skin, a second electrode rides on the surface, and energy passes between them. The heat does two things at once. It liquefies fat so it can be removed, and it contracts the connective tissue that anchors your skin to the muscle beneath it.
That second effect is the whole point, and it is where the depth matters. The fibroseptal network is the web of fibrous strands running between skin and muscle. It is the structural layer, and it sits well below the surface. Lasers and microneedling work from the top down. They can improve skin texture and tone, and they do that job well. They cannot reach the fibroseptal network, because the energy is spent before it gets there. FaceTite works from the inside out, which is why it can change the shape of a jawline rather than the finish of the skin over it.
Collagen remodeling follows over the months afterward. It is real, and it is secondary. Depth of access is the reason to consider this procedure at all.
The device is 510(k)-cleared by the FDA, not FDA-approved. Clearance means it was shown to be substantially equivalent to a device already on the market. That is a lower bar than premarket approval, and it is worth knowing the difference when you are weighing a procedure.
If you want the full procedure overview rather than the Sun City Center view, read our page on FaceTite in Tampa.
The Four-Layer Neck Read
Most necks age in more than one layer at once. A page that sells you one procedure has decided in advance which layer is the problem. We read all four before deciding anything.
Layer One, Fat
Fat under the chin blurs the line between jaw and neck. This is the layer that responds most predictably, and it responds to removal, not to tightening. Neck liposuction handles it through very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. In patients who are otherwise thin, this single layer is often the entire problem.
Layer Two, The Platysma
The platysma is the broad sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate and slacken, they show as two vertical cords running from jaw to collarbone. These are platysmal bands. No amount of skin tightening removes them, because they are not a skin problem. Where bands are present, the answer is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty. Energy applied over unaddressed bands produces a tighter neck with the same cords still visible.
Layer Three, Skin And The Fibroseptal Network
This is FaceTite’s layer. Once fat is out, the question is whether the skin and the structure beneath it will draw back down over the new contour. Skin with reasonable elasticity does. Skin without it does not, and heating it will not change that.
Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Some necks look full because the chin sits back. The soft tissue is fine. The frame underneath it does not give that tissue anywhere to drape. Building projection with a structural filler such as Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, changes the profile without touching the neck at all. This layer is the one most often missed, and treating it is sometimes the whole answer.
The full picture of how these layers combine sits on our page covering neck and jawline contouring.
Why Candidacy Looks Different In Sun City Center
Here is the part other pages skip.
The elasticity window for FaceTite runs roughly to skin age 55. Inside that window, skin recoils over a new contour and the result holds. Outside it, energy tightening produces a smaller change than the marketing images suggest, and sometimes not enough change to justify the procedure.
Now the local math. At the 2020 Census, Sun City Center had 30,952 residents, a median age of 70.4, and 63.8 percent of the population aged 65 or older. That is one of the oldest age profiles of any community in Hillsborough County, and it sits well outside the band that FaceTite marketing is written for.
We are not going to pretend otherwise. A meaningful share of people searching this term from a 33573 address will be told, honestly, that FaceTite alone will not get them where they want to go.
That is not the same as saying nothing will. Skin age and chronological age are different numbers. Sun protection history, smoking history, weight stability and genetics all move skin age away from the year on your driver’s license, sometimes by a decade. We have treated people in their sixties whose skin recoiled beautifully and people in their forties whose skin did not. The only way to know which one you are is to have someone put hands on your neck and check.
Dr. Grandhige personally evaluates every patient and designs the plan himself. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, trained at the University of Michigan Medical School, and completed fellowship training in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive surgery before concentrating on aesthetics. That background is why the answer here is a read rather than a quote. You can see how he thinks about case selection on Dr. Gopal Grandhige’s profile.
Crunches can only do so much.
You can spend hours strengthening your abdominal muscles, but that doesn’t guarantee visible definition.
A layer of fat sits between the muscles and the skin, and crunches can’t specifically target that fat.
For many people, exercise and reducing overall body fat can help reveal their abs. But even people who are already lean and fit can have stubborn fat that hides their natural muscle definition.
That’s where high-definition liposuction may help.
Dr. Gopal uses HD lipo to selectively remove fat around the natural contours of the abdominal muscles, helping reveal the definition that’s already there.

Which one had surgery 1 or 2? 👀
High-definition liposuction goes beyond traditional fat removal. Instead of simply reducing fat evenly, the surgeon strategically removes fat around the underlying muscles to make their natural contours more visible.
But here’s what makes it interesting: HD lipo doesn’t create the same six-pack on everyone. Each person’s anatomy, muscle development, and desired level of definition influence the final result.
Now take another look at these two patients.
Which one do you think had HD liposuction, 1 or 2?

There’s a story behind every decision.
Cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. Yet people who choose it often find themselves having to explain or defend that choice to others.
Some want to restore changes after pregnancy or weight loss. Others have worked hard to get in shape but still have areas they’d like to improve. And some simply want to feel more comfortable with their appearance.
The reasons are different for everyone. And they don’t have to make sense to anyone else.
At Formation, Dr. Gopal believes the decision to pursue cosmetic surgery should be guided by a patient’s personal goals, realistic expectations, and what’s medically appropriate for them.
Because ultimately, the person making that decision is the one who will live with it.

Our first four-legged patient. 🐾
Dr. Gopal takes his liposuction and body contouring very seriously.
Even when his patients have four legs.
From loose skin and neck liposuction to a jawline that deserves its own before-and-after reveal, this might be his most dramatic transformation yet.
And yes, he even got the patient’s permission to share the results. 😂
A little Halloween fun from Dr. Gopal and his two very patient pups! 🎃🐶
No dogs underwent surgery. Just two willing participants and one very committed surgeon.

What weight loss can’t fix.
After losing over 100 pounds, this patient had achieved significant weight loss, but was left with excess skin around his abdomen and back that weight loss alone couldn’t address.
During an 8-hour surgery, Dr. Gopal performed a circumferential body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin around the entire midsection to improve body contour.
In this video, Dr. Gopal walks through the procedure, explaining how he removed approximately 3 pounds of skin from the back and estimated another 4–5 pounds would be removed from the abdomen.
He’s also using a small amount of fat collected during the procedure to add volume to the upper chest, improving its contour without performing a separate chest lift.
For patients who have experienced major weight loss, body contouring can help address the excess skin that remains after the weight is gone.

Only 3 months after surgery. And still healing.
This patient had previously undergone a tummy tuck but wanted to improve his abdominal contour, create more definition, and address the appearance of his existing scar.
Dr. Gopal combined several body contouring techniques, including HD liposuction, skin tightening with Renuvion, fat transfer to the chest, and revision of the previous tummy tuck scar.
The result so far? A more defined abdomen, improved body contours, and a revised scar that’s still in the early stages of healing.
At just three months after surgery, these aren’t the final results. Swelling can continue to decrease, and scars typically soften and fade as healing progresses.

Your fat is liquid gold.
The fat you don’t want might be exactly what another part of your body needs.
During liposuction, the fat we remove doesn’t always have to be discarded. In fact, Dr. Gopal refers to it as “liquid gold.”
Why? Because that fat can sometimes be transferred to another area of the body to add volume, enhance natural contours, and create a more balanced shape.
For women, that might mean adding volume to the breasts, hips, or buttocks. For men, fat transfer can help enhance the chest or shoulders.
And because we’re using your own fat, we can potentially improve two areas during the same surgery.
Of course, fat transfer isn’t right for everyone. It’s something Dr. Gopal discusses with patients beforehand and incorporates into the surgical plan when appropriate.

Cosmetic surgery isn’t just cosmetic.
We often measure the success of plastic surgery by what we can see in before-and-after photos. But some of the most meaningful changes happen in ways a photograph can’t capture.
How someone feels about themselves. The confidence they carry into everyday life. The freedom of no longer feeling uncomfortable in their own skin.
For Dr. Gopal, that’s what makes this work so meaningful.
A patient who underwent body contouring in 2025 recently reached out to share how much the experience continues to mean to her.
She didn’t talk about measurements or how her body looked. She talked about how much better her days had become.
And that’s something Dr. Gopal has always believed: Cosmetic surgery isn’t simply about changing how someone looks. It’s about understanding what that change means to the person choosing it.

A flatter stomach without a tummy tuck? 👀
Pregnancy, and sometimes increased pressure from fat deep inside the abdomen, can cause the abdominal muscles to separate down the middle. This is called diastasis recti, and it can make your belly stick out even if you’re otherwise lean.
Traditionally, repairing that separation often meant undergoing a tummy tuck. But what if you don’t have much loose skin to remove?
For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can use robotic-assisted surgery to bring those separated muscles back together through three small incisions, without the long scar associated with a traditional tummy tuck.
That’s exactly what he did for the patient in these before-and-after photos. No tummy tuck. No additional procedures.
**But this approach isn’t for everyone.** If you have significant loose skin or excess fat, a different treatment may be more appropriate. That’s why understanding what’s causing your belly to protrude matters before deciding on surgery.

Why does fluid sometimes collect after surgery?
After certain surgical procedures, fluid can accumulate beneath the skin, forming what’s called a seroma.
In this video, Dr. Gopal demonstrates how he drains a seroma in a patient recovering from diastasis recti repair.
This is one of the reasons postoperative follow-up matters. It allows Dr. Gopal to monitor healing, identify any issues, and address them when necessary.

When FaceTite Is The Wrong Answer
Four situations where we say no, or say not yet.
Skin that does not recoil. Pinch the skin under your jaw and let go. If it takes its time returning, heat will not fix that. Excess skin needs to come out, not tighten up.
Visible platysmal bands as the main complaint. Treat layer two, or the cords stay.
Active or recent weight change. Contour set during a shifting weight is contour set on a moving target. We wait.
A neck that needs a lift. Past a certain point, the honest answer is skin excision, and that is a different operation than anything we offer here. When a patient is beyond what contouring and tightening reach, we say so and point them to surgeons who do that work well. We stay in contact with those surgeons for exactly this reason. Sending someone into a procedure that cannot deliver is worse for them than sending them somewhere else.
What The Published Evidence Shows, Including Its Limits
A systematic review of subsurface radiofrequency treatments in plastic surgery reported a 13 percent surface area reduction for radiofrequency-assisted liposuction against 8 percent for the control arm at one year. The authors noted that the gap between the two groups was small enough that chance could not be ruled out. Photographic results across the studies reviewed ranged from marked improvement in the jawline and neck to considerably less.
We link that systematic review rather than summarizing around it, because the spread in those results is the honest picture. The technology works. How well it works depends heavily on who is selected for it and who is holding the probe.
The Drive From Sun City Center, And How We Plan Around It
The Route
Sun City Center sits in southern Hillsborough County, bounded by Interstate 75 on the northwest, U.S. 301 on the east, and the Little Manatee River to the south. Access is from Exit 240, Sun City Center Boulevard, which is State Road 674.
The practical route to 1315 South Howard Avenue is I-75 north past Riverview and Brandon, then the Selmon Expressway west into South Tampa. Two details worth knowing before your first trip. The Selmon is all-electronic tolling and has been since 2010, so there is no cash lane. You need a SunPass transponder or you will be billed by plate. And the Selmon’s express lanes reverse direction: three lanes run inbound in the morning and outbound in the evening. A morning appointment and an evening drive home both run with the express lanes, not against them. Schedule against that and the trip is materially easier.
Golf carts are street legal on Sun City Center’s streets during daylight hours, which covers most of daily life inside the community. It does not cover this. Plan the visit as a car trip.
The One-Trip Structure
Because the drive is real, we compress it. Most Sun City Center patients start with a complimentary virtual evaluation with Hanna, our patient coordinator, who reviews your goals and outlines a likely plan before you get in the car. That means the first drive north is already a productive one.
For patients who prefer to recover near the practice rather than drive home the same day, Formation holds relationships with nearby hotels at discounted rates. Dr. Grandhige visits patients in their hotel rooms during the early post-operative days so they are not making a second trip in for a check that can happen where they are.
Procedure Day And Recovery
On The Day
Neck and jawline work is done in the office using an oral sedative and local anesthetic, through very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Fat comes out first, carefully, with natural jaw angles preserved. Over-aggressive fat removal is what produces irregularities and a prematurely aged look, so restraint here is deliberate. FaceTite or Renuvion then tightens the skin down over the muscle and bone underneath.
Surgical cases are performed in fully accredited Quad A certified facilities with the same anesthesia provider and the same staff on every case.
Week By Week
The first few days bring mild swelling, bruising and tightness, with a chin compression garment worn throughout. At one week most patients return to work and social activities, still wearing the chin garment 12 to 24 hours a day. Between two and four weeks swelling continues settling and the results of the fat removal become clearly visible. At three months the skin tightening is apparent. The final result lands between six and nine months.
Florida heat is a legitimate scheduling factor. A chin garment worn around the clock through August is a different experience than one worn in January, and we will say so when you ask about timing.
The Preparation Window
We assess health and diet before treatment, and adjust nutrition, supplements and peptides in the window immediately before and after so the body builds the most structure it can while it is healing. Lymphatic treatment starts at the first post-operative visit.
This is the part that separates outcomes. The instrument is identical at every practice that owns one. The thinking around it is not. We hold to a 60/40 standard: the procedure is 60 percent of the result and the post-operative care is 40 percent, and we own both. More on how that shapes the practice sits in the Formation philosophy. Outcomes across the neck and jawline work are in the before and after gallery.
Booking From Sun City Center
Two ways in, and they work together.
The complimentary virtual evaluation with Hanna costs nothing and happens from your living room. She reviews your goals, explains what is likely and what is not, and outlines a plan before you commit to the drive.
The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee. It is a full surgical assessment, not a sales meeting, and the fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice. You will leave with a plan whether or not you schedule anything.
Start either one when you contact Formation.
The Short Version For Sun City Center Patients
FaceTite is a strong tool for one specific layer of the neck, and Sun City Center’s age profile means that layer is the right target less often here than the marketing implies. That is the honest position, and it is the reason to start with a free look before you drive.
Read your neck in four layers. Find out which one is actually the problem. If it is skin and the structure beneath it, and your skin still recoils, FaceTite delivers a jawline that holds for years. If it is muscle, or frame, or more skin than heat can take up, you will get a straight answer and a real alternative instead of a booked procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Not automatically, but it changes the odds. The elasticity window runs to roughly skin age 55, and skin age and chronological age are different numbers. Sun exposure history, smoking history and weight stability move that number in both directions. The evaluation is the only way to know.
Roughly 30 minutes without traffic, north on I-75 from Exit 240 and then west on the Selmon Expressway. The Selmon takes SunPass or toll-by-plate only.
Fewer than you would expect. The virtual evaluation happens before you travel. For patients who stay near the practice after the procedure, Dr. Grandhige visits them at their hotel during the early days rather than having them drive in.
It involves incisions, sedation and local anesthetic, so it is a procedure, not a facial. It is minimally invasive rather than non-surgical. The incisions are very small and placed under the chin and behind the ears.
No. Vertical cords are platysmal bands, a muscle problem in layer two. They need MyEllevate with platysmaplasty. Tightening skin over them leaves them visible.
Most patients are comfortable in public at one week, wearing the chin garment under clothing outside of the house. Bruising is usually resolving by then.
You will be told what would work instead. If that is a lift-level procedure, we refer you to surgeons who do that work well rather than performing something that cannot reach the problem.
Regularly. Patients travel in from across Florida and out of state. The hotel relationships and the hotel-room follow-up visits exist because of it.
