What HD Liposuction Does That Standard Liposuction Does Not
Standard liposuction reduces volume. HD liposuction reduces volume in specific planes so the muscle underneath becomes visible.
The difference is where fat gets left behind. Dr. Grandhige works the superficial and deep layers separately, thinning some zones and preserving others so light falls across the torso the way it does on an untrained-eye-invisible athletic build. Over-etching produces lines that announce surgery and age badly. The goal is definition that holds up in motion, not just in a still photo.

Florida Caps Office Fat Removal At 4,000 cc, And That Changes Your Plan
This is the single most important planning fact almost no clinic page mentions.
Under Florida’s standard of care for office surgery, a maximum of 4,000 cc of supernatant fat may be removed by liposuction in an office setting. Lidocaine for tumescent liposuction is capped at 50 mg per kilogram. Any case removing more than 1,000 cc requires the surgeon to maintain a detailed surgical log, and any office performing those cases must be registered with the Florida Department of Health and inspected.
Here is what that means for you. A true multi-area HD session covering abdomen, flanks, back, and chest can approach that ceiling on a larger frame. When the planned volume runs past it, the case gets staged across two sessions or moved to a licensed facility. Roughly 3 in 10 multi-area HD plans at Formation are staged for exactly this reason. Finding that out at your consultation is normal. Finding it out on surgery day is not.
When Liposuction Is Combined With Another Procedure
The ceiling drops hard. When liposuction is combined with abdominoplasty, it may not exceed 1,000 cc of supernatant fat. The same 1,000 cc limit applies whenever liposuction is directly related to another procedure in the same operation.
So a combined tummy tuck and contouring plan is not the same procedure as a standalone Lipo360 session, and it cannot be. If you want both, sequence matters, and Dr. Grandhige will map the order at your consultation rather than promising both in one sitting.
What Changed In Florida Office Surgery On July 1, 2026
House Bill 1175 took effect July 1, 2026. It directs the Florida Building Commission and the State Fire Marshal to write safety design standards specific to office surgery suites by January 1, 2027, as an alternative to the standards used for ambulatory health care occupancies, and to allow treatment of up to six patients simultaneously on an outpatient basis.
Practical read for a patient: office surgical environments in this state are being formally re-specified right now. Ask any practice you are considering where they operate and what that facility is accredited under. Every Formation surgery happens in a Quad A accredited facility with the same anesthesia provider and the same surgical staff on every case.
The Drive From Harvey Heights And Why It Shapes Your Recovery Schedule
Harvey Heights covers about a tenth of a square mile in northern Tampa, bounded by Florida Avenue to the west, Linebaugh Avenue to the north, Busch Boulevard to the south, and I-275 to the east, inside ZIP code 33612 and City Council District 7. So we schedule it around the traffic. North Tampa patients get first post-op visits booked before 10 a.m. or after 2 p.m. by default. Patients traveling from farther out recover in nearby hotels where Formation holds relationships, and Dr. Grandhige visits patients in their rooms during the early days rather than making them come in.
Patients from neighboring Forest Hills and the wider Busch Boulevard corridor run the same route and get the same scheduling treatment.

The Weight-Stability Window: Timing HD Liposuction After GLP-1 Weight Loss
Patients arriving after significant medication-assisted weight loss are now a meaningful share of consultations, and the timing question is the one they get wrong.
The rule Dr. Grandhige uses is a 90-day window: weight held within about 5 pounds for three consecutive months before surgery is planned. Operating during an active loss phase means contouring a body that is still changing shape, and the result stops matching within months.
The second issue is skin. Rapid loss often leaves laxity that fat removal alone makes more obvious, not less. That is a candidacy conversation, not a scheduling one, and sometimes the answer is a tightening procedure or an abdominoplasty instead of liposuction.
Who Dr. Grandhige Says No To
A practice that never declines cases is a practice selling procedures.
He declines patients who are mid-weight-change, patients whose skin will not support the result they are describing, patients asking for etching he thinks will look artificial in five years, and patients whose expectations do not match their anatomy. Sometimes the recommendation is to fix a foundational health issue first. Sometimes surgery is not offered at all.
For men whose primary concern is chest tissue rather than torso fat, gynecomastia surgery is often the correct procedure instead of, or alongside, contouring. Getting that distinction right at the consultation stage is most of the job.
