Why Depth Of Access Is The Difference
The honest comparison isn’t FaceTite against other brands. It’s FaceTite against everything that works from the outside in.
Lasers and microneedling start at the surface and lose energy on the way down. By the time they reach the fibroseptal network, there isn’t much left. You are not a candidate if the skin has already lost its recoil. This is the part most pages skip, and it’s the failure mode worth naming. Take out the fat under loose skin and the skin has less to drape over. A systematic review of subsurface radiofrequency treatments found that in one study 21 percent of patients rated their FaceTite-assisted liposuction results as poor or unchanged, and another reported 15 percent were unhappy. The review’s own limitation applies: satisfaction scoring varied by study and several were industry sponsored, so treat those figures as a range rather than a rate. The pattern behind them is consistent though. Poor outcomes cluster in patients whose skin was never going to retract.
When Dr. Grandhige sees that, he says no and points the patient toward the surgeons who do neck lifts well. Formation stays in contact with them. Sending someone to a device that can’t reach their problem is how a practice ends up doing revision work on its own patients.
What Happens In The Office
FaceTite for the jawline and neck runs in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative. Not general anesthesia, not a hospital, no overnight stay. Access points go under the chin and behind the ears where they’re hidden. Fat comes out first, conservatively, because over-resection here creates irregularities and ages a neck faster than the fat ever did. Then the energy pass tightens skin down over the muscle and bone underneath.
Published treatment times for face and neck work sit in the range of 45 minutes upward depending on how much area is covered. Formation’s surgical cases requiring general anesthesia are performed in Quad A accredited facilities with the same anesthesia provider and the same staff on every case.
One current point worth knowing if you’re comparing offices. Florida’s HB 1175 took effect July 1, 2026, requiring the Florida Building Commission and State Fire Marshal to set safety design standards for office surgery suites, with the implementing rules due by January 1, 2027. On regulatory language: radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis devices are FDA cleared through the 510(k) pathway, not FDA approved. Clearance means substantial equivalence to an existing device. Pages that say approved are wrong, and it’s a useful tell about how carefully the rest of the page was written.
Recovery On The Formation Timeline
The first few days bring mild swelling, some bruising, and tightness, managed with a chin compression garment. At one week you’re back at work and back in the gym, wearing the garment 12 to 24 hours a day. Between weeks two and four swelling settles and the fat removal becomes clearly visible. Skin tightening shows at three months with significant jawline improvement. The final result lands at six to nine months once tightening completes.
That last number is the one people underestimate. This isn’t a procedure that peaks and stops.
Recovery here is managed rather than waited out. Dr. Grandhige’s position is that surgery is 60 percent of the result and post-operative care is the other 40, and that poor aftercare can undo well-executed work. Health and diet get assessed before treatment. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and after so the body builds the most structure it can while it’s healing. Follow-up runs a full year.
One Formation patient, a professional in their forties, came in fit everywhere except the neck and jawline, an area that had never responded to weight loss and that they’d disliked in photographs for years.
