It’s a common concern, especially when someone notices weight gain in an area that wasn’t treated.
Here’s what actually happens.
The fat cells removed during liposuction are gone permanently. But if someone gains weight afterward, the remaining fat cells can still grow, including in areas that weren’t treated.

Three small incisions instead of one long one.
For some patients with diastasis recti, repairing the separated abdominal muscles doesn’t necessarily require a traditional tummy tuck.
A tummy tuck makes sense when there’s loose skin that needs to be removed at the same time. But some patients are lean, don’t have much loose skin, and still have that persistent pooch from muscle separation.
For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can repair the diastasis using a minimally invasive robotic approach through three small incisions, about 8 mm each, hidden along the bikini line.
