Neck Liposuction In New Port Richey, FL

What Neck Liposuction Actually Changes

Submental liposuction takes out the fat sitting between your skin and the platysma muscle. Remove it and the angle between your chin and your neck gets sharper, which is the single feature that makes a face read as fit or heavy in profile.

Fat cells that come out don’t come back. Hold a stable weight and the change holds. The remaining cells can still enlarge if you gain, so this is a contouring tool, not a weight-loss one.

What it does not do is tighten loose skin, flatten a muscle band, or build a jaw you weren’t born with. Those are different problems in different tissue. Dr. Grandhige performs this in-office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, the same awake liposuction approach used for small body areas, so you are talking during the procedure and there’s no general anesthesia involved.

Crunches can only do so much. You can spend hours strengthening your abdominal muscles, but that doesn’t guarantee visible definition.A layer of fat sits between the muscles and the skin, and crunches can’t specifically target that fat.For many people, exercise and reducing overall body fat can help reveal their abs. But even people who are already lean and fit can have stubborn fat that hides their natural muscle definition. That’s where high-definition liposuction may help.Dr. Gopal uses HD lipo to selectively remove fat around the natural contours of the abdominal muscles, helping reveal the definition that’s already there.📍 Formation | South TampaInterested in HD lipo? Which one had surgery 1 or 2? 👀High-definition liposuction goes beyond traditional fat removal. Instead of simply reducing fat evenly, the surgeon strategically removes fat around the underlying muscles to make their natural contours more visible. But here’s what makes it interesting: HD lipo doesn’t create the same six-pack on everyone. Each person’s anatomy, muscle development, and desired level of definition influence the final result. Now take another look at these two patients.Which one do you think had HD liposuction, 1 or 2?Drop your guess below, then check the pinned comment for the answer!#HDLiposuction #MaleLiposuction #BodyContouring #Tampa

There’s a story behind every decision.Cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. Yet people who choose it often find themselves having to explain or defend that choice to others. Some want to restore changes after pregnancy or weight loss. Others have worked hard to get in shape but still have areas they’d like to improve. And some simply want to feel more comfortable with their appearance. The reasons are different for everyone. And they don’t have to make sense to anyone else.At Formation, Dr. Gopal believes the decision to pursue cosmetic surgery should be guided by a patient’s personal goals, realistic expectations, and what’s medically appropriate for them.Because ultimately, the person making that decision is the one who will live with it.#Tampa #CosmeticSurgery #BodyContouring #Liposuction

What weight loss can’t fix. After losing over 100 pounds, this patient had achieved significant weight loss, but was left with excess skin around his abdomen and back that weight loss alone couldn’t address.During an 8-hour surgery, Dr. Gopal performed a circumferential body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin around the entire midsection to improve body contour. In this video, Dr. Gopal walks through the procedure, explaining how he removed approximately 3 pounds of skin from the back and estimated another 4–5 pounds would be removed from the abdomen. He’s also using a small amount of fat collected during the procedure to add volume to the upper chest, improving its contour without performing a separate chest lift. For patients who have experienced major weight loss, body contouring can help address the excess skin that remains after the weight is gone.Considering surgery after weight loss? Your fat is liquid gold. The fat you don’t want might be exactly what another part of your body needs.During liposuction, the fat we remove doesn’t always have to be discarded. In fact, Dr. Gopal refers to it as “liquid gold.”Why? Because that fat can sometimes be transferred to another area of the body to add volume, enhance natural contours, and create a more balanced shape. For women, that might mean adding volume to the breasts, hips, or buttocks. For men, fat transfer can help enhance the chest or shoulders. And because we’re using your own fat, we can potentially improve two areas during the same surgery.Of course, fat transfer isn’t right for everyone. It’s something Dr. Gopal discusses with patients beforehand and incorporates into the surgical plan when appropriate.Considering liposuction in Tampa? A flatter stomach without a tummy tuck? 👀Pregnancy, and sometimes increased pressure from fat deep inside the abdomen, can cause the abdominal muscles to separate down the middle. This is called diastasis recti, and it can make your belly stick out even if you’re otherwise lean.Traditionally, repairing that separation often meant undergoing a tummy tuck. But what if you don’t have much loose skin to remove? For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can use robotic-assisted surgery to bring those separated muscles back together through three small incisions, without the long scar associated with a traditional tummy tuck. That’s exactly what he did for the patient in these before-and-after photos. No tummy tuck. No additional procedures.**But this approach isn’t for everyone.** If you have significant loose skin or excess fat, a different treatment may be more appropriate. That’s why understanding what’s causing your belly to protrude matters before deciding on surgery.Curious whether you’re a candidate? Why does fluid sometimes collect after surgery? After certain surgical procedures, fluid can accumulate beneath the skin, forming what’s called a seroma. In this video, Dr. Gopal demonstrates how he drains a seroma in a patient recovering from diastasis recti repair. This is one of the reasons postoperative follow-up matters. It allows Dr. Gopal to monitor healing, identify any issues, and address them when necessary.Considering surgery? The Four-Layer Neck Read

Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once. Treating one and ignoring the other three is how patients end up disappointed after a technically clean surgery. Before Dr. Grandhige quotes a plan, he reads all four.

Layer One: The Fat

Pinch under your chin. If you can grab a distinct pad and it moves, that’s subcutaneous fat, and liposuction addresses it directly. This layer responds best and fastest. If your neck is mostly a layer-one problem and your skin snaps back when released, you are the ideal candidate and you probably don’t need anything added.

Layer Two: The Platysma And Platysmal Bands

Tip your chin up and clench your jaw. If two vertical cords stand out down the front of your neck, those are platysmal bands, and no amount of fat removal touches them. Remove the fat over a banded platysma and the bands often look worse, because you’ve taken away what was hiding them.

Bands need the muscle addressed. MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty, is the repair when the muscle edges have separated. For mild banding in a patient who isn’t ready for surgery, Botox, a botulinum toxin, softens the cords temporarily. It doesn’t fix them.

Layer Three: The Skin And Fibroseptal Network

Underneath your skin sits a web of collagen fibers, the fibroseptal network, that anchors skin to the tissue below. Age, sun and weight swings break those fibers down, and once they go, skin hangs regardless of how much fat is removed.

This is the layer that separates a good submental result from a hollow one. Renuvion, a helium plasma and radiofrequency device, and FaceTite, a radiofrequency contouring device, work from underneath the skin and reach that fiber network. Lasers and microneedling work from the surface down and can’t get to it. Renuvion received 510(k) clearance in July 2022 specifically for improving the appearance of lax skin in the neck and submental region, which is why it’s the tightening tool used here rather than a surface device.

Layer Four: Chin Projection And Jaw Angle

Look at yourself in profile with a straight face. Draw an imaginary vertical line down from your lower lip. If your chin sits well behind it, you have a frame problem, and no amount of fat removal builds the frame. A superhero jawline is mostly a projection issue.

Structural injectables address this. Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, builds projection at the chin point and along the jaw angle. Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, is used where softer contour is wanted. Layer four is often the reason a patient who had perfect liposuction elsewhere still doesn’t like their profile.

Why The Answer Is Different In Pasco County

Here is something the Tampa pages ranking for this search won’t tell you: the average New Port Richey patient walks in with a different neck than the average South Tampa patient, and the reason is demographic.

Skin elasticity is the gatekeeper for this procedure. Formation’s candidacy range sits at roughly skin ages 25 to 55, because that’s where the skin still recoils after fat is removed. Pasco County’s median age is 45.0 against a statewide 43.0, and 22.7 percent of residents are 65 or older. Hillsborough County, where these pages send you, has a median age of 37.6 and 15.1 percent over 65. Those figures come from the Florida Office of Economic and Demographic Research county profiles.

That seven-year gap matters in practice. A higher share of patients driving down from New Port Richey, Hudson, Port Richey and Holiday sit at or past the upper edge of the elasticity window. For them, liposuction alone empties the compartment and leaves the skin hanging. The correct plan is liposuction plus tightening, or in some cases no liposuction at all. That’s a judgment made at layer three, in person, not from a page.

How The Procedure Works At Formation

The whole thing takes under an hour. You take an oral sedative, Dr. Grandhige numbs the area with tumescent local anesthesia, and small incisions go under the chin and behind the ears. Fat comes out in passes, checked against the jaw angle as he goes. Renuvion or FaceTite then treats the underside of the skin where tightening is indicated.

Because you’re awake, he can have you lift your chin, turn, and swallow mid-procedure. Contour is judged in motion, not on a flat table.

On safety, the numbers exist and they’re specific. A case series of 987 neck liposuctions performed under tumescent local anesthesia by three surgeons reported five temporary marginal mandibular nerve problems, one submandibular gland ptosis and one arterial bleed, with no seroma, skin necrosis or scarring recorded. The limitation is real and worth stating: it’s a retrospective series from experienced operators, not a randomized trial, and it doesn’t predict any individual result. Rates reported elsewhere run higher. What it does establish is that the serious complications people fear are uncommon when the surgeon stays superficial and knows where the marginal mandibular nerve runs.

Dr. Gopal Grandhige is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, with fellowship training in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery. That background is about tissue behavior and healing, which is what this procedure is really governed by. Cases that require general anesthesia are done in QUAD A accredited facilities with the same anesthesia provider and the same surgical team on every case.

Recovery, Week By Week

First few days. Mild swelling, bruising and a tight feeling under the chin. The chin compression garment goes on and stays on.

One week. Back to work, back to social plans, back to training. Garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day.

Two to four weeks. Swelling keeps settling and the fat removal becomes visible. This is the point where most people first see the change in photos.

Three months. Skin tightening shows up, with clear improvement in the jawline.

Six to nine months. Final result. Tightening finishes maturing last, which is why judging your outcome at week three is a mistake.

If you’ve been comparing yourself to someone’s before-and-after at two weeks post-op, stop. Those photos are usually months apart. Formation’s before and after gallery is worth reviewing with timelines in mind.

The Part Most Practices Skip

Dr. Grandhige treats a result as 60 percent surgery and 40 percent post-operative care. That’s the 60/40 Recovery Standard, and it’s not a slogan. Bad aftercare can undo good surgery, and it does, routinely.

Preparation starts about four weeks out. Health and diet are assessed first. Nutrition, supplements and peptides get adjusted in the window immediately before and immediately after, so your body is building as much structure as it can while it heals. Recovery support runs through vetted lymphatic providers, supplies and education for at-home care, and follow-up that continues for a full year.

Every practice in Tampa Bay can buy the same cannula and the same Renuvion handpiece. The instrument is identical. The thinking around it is not, and that’s the reason Formation was built this way.

Getting To Formation From New Port Richey

Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in South Tampa. From New Port Richey that’s roughly 34 miles by road, about 45 to 50 minutes in normal traffic.

Two routes, and they’re not equivalent. SR 54 east to the Suncoast Parkway south, which becomes the Veterans Expressway, is the fast one. It’s been all-electronic tolling since January 2020, so if you don’t have a SunPass transponder you’ll be billed Toll-By-Plate at the higher rate with administrative fees attached. Worth sorting before your first visit. US 19 south through Pinellas is the toll-free alternative and it’s slower, with signal after signal.

Plan on someone driving you. An oral sedative means you’re not driving yourself back up the Suncoast afterward, and that trips up more out-of-county patients than anything else about the day.

For patients combining the neck with a larger contouring procedure, Formation has relationships with nearby hotels at reduced rates, and Dr. Grandhige visits patients in their room during the early recovery days rather than making them come back to the office.

Who This Procedure Is Wrong For

Worth saying plainly, because most pages selling this procedure won’t.

If your skin no longer recoils, liposuction alone will make things look worse, not better. If your bands are the dominant feature, fat removal exposes them. If you’re carrying significant excess skin that needs excision, the answer is a facelift or a neck lift, and Formation refers those patients outward to surgeons who do that work well rather than performing a lesser procedure that won’t reach the problem.

And here’s one more: there are board-certified surgeons practicing closer to New Port Richey than Tampa. If a 50-minute drive is a real obstacle for you, look locally first. What you’re checking is whether the surgeon treats the neck as four layers or one, whether they do enough of these to have a point of view about the marginal mandibular nerve, and what their post-operative care includes. If the closer option clears that bar, take it. If the answer to every question is the procedure itself, keep looking.

Book The Evaluation Before You Book The Drive

If you’re in New Port Richey and unsure whether your neck is a fat problem, a muscle problem, a skin problem or a frame problem, start with the complimentary virtual evaluation with Hanna. It costs you nothing and 20 minutes, and it tells you whether the in-office visit with Dr. Gopal Grandhige is worth your time. That in-office consultation carries a fee, runs as a full surgical assessment, and the fee applies toward any procedure or product here.

Some patients leave that assessment with a surgery date. Some leave with a plan that starts somewhere other than surgery. Both are useful answers, and you’ll get the honest one.

Frequently Asked Questions

The fat cells removed don't regenerate, so the contour change is permanent as long as your weight stays stable. Remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain. Skin tightening achieved with Renuvion or FaceTite holds well, though normal aging continues after the procedure.

No. The neck procedure is performed in the office with an oral sedative and tumescent local anesthesia. You're awake and responsive throughout, which lets Dr. Grandhige check contour while you move your head and jaw.

One week. Most patients return to work and to the gym at the one-week mark, wearing the chin compression garment 12 to 24 hours a day through that period.

Age isn't the number that matters. Skin elasticity is, and Formation's candidacy range runs roughly skin ages 25 to 55. Plenty of 58-year-olds have skin that recoils well and plenty of 45-year-olds don't. This is assessed in person by pinching and releasing, not by birthdate.

Then liposuction is the wrong first move. Platysmal bands sit in muscle and need the muscle addressed, either with MyEllevate combined with platysmaplasty, or temporarily softened with a botulinum toxin. Removing fat over a banded platysma usually makes the bands more visible.

Incisions are a few millimeters, placed under the chin and behind the ears where the shadow falls. They fade substantially over several months. They are real incisions and they heal like incisions, which is not the same as leaving nothing behind.

For neck liposuction alone, no. You go home the same day with a driver. If you're combining it with a larger contouring procedure, Formation has hotel arrangements nearby and Dr. Grandhige does in-room visits during the first days.

Yes. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee and is a full surgical assessment, and that fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at the practice. Formation also offers a complimentary virtual evaluation with patient coordinator Hanna, who reviews your goals and outlines a plan before you decide whether to make the drive.
