He has been operating for more than 15 years and has performed several thousand cases.
Burn units and surgical ICUs are where a surgeon learns how tissue actually behaves under stress. Fluid shifts, inflammation, wound healing, and what a body does when it is pushed. That background shapes how he plans a contouring case and, more visibly, how he manages the weeks after one.
You can confirm his certification directly through the American Board of Surgery rather than taking a website’s word for it. That is the correct move with any surgeon you are considering.
How To Verify Any Surgeon You're Considering, Including This One
Florida law lets any licensed physician perform cosmetic procedures. Board certification, office registration, and facility accreditation are three separate things, and a marketing page can be technically accurate while telling you none of them. Three checks, in order.

- Ask where the surgery actually happens. An office consultation and an accredited operating room are not the same building in every practice. Ask for the facility name and its accrediting body before you sign anything.

The Formation Tighten-Or-Remove Line
Before any torso case, Dr. Grandhige runs three checks that decide whether contouring alone will get you there. Patients can run the first two themselves in a mirror.
- Check one, recoil. Pinch the skin at the flank or lower abdomen, hold it, then let go. Does it move back toward the body, or does it sit where you left it?
- Check two, the standing fold. Standing upright and relaxed, does skin hang at rest? Not when you bend, not when you pinch. At rest.
- Check three, the abdominal wall. Is there separation through the midline from pregnancy or weight change?
Clear all three and liposuction with energy-based tightening as a finisher is a reasonable plan. Fail the standing fold or the wall, and no device on the market fixes it. That is skin removal or muscle repair, and any practice telling you otherwise is selling you a result you will not get.
This matters more here every year. A large share of the patients arriving now have lost substantial weight, often with medical support, and the problem they are left with is laxity rather than volume. Dr. Grandhige performs abdominoplasty, lower body lift, 360 contouring, and revision cases himself. HD liposuction is a finishing tool, not a weight-loss procedure. It suits patients already at or near goal weight who train consistently and still can’t get definition to show. Dr. Grandhige treats it as sculpture rather than fat removal, working around muscle shape and skeletal structure. He avoids over-etching, because carved lines that announce surgery age badly and read as artificial in motion.
Male Body Contouring And Gynecomastia Surgery
Male contouring needs a different aesthetic eye. Chest, abdomen, and flanks have to resolve together or the result reads as feminized. Dr. Grandhige is known for flat, clean masculine chest contours and for avoiding the saucer deformity that follows over-resection. Gynecomastia correction is often combined with torso sculpting in the same case when the anatomy calls for it.

Dr. Grandhige’s position is specific: surgery accounts for roughly 60 percent of your result, and post-operative care accounts for the other 40. Poor post-op management can undo a well-executed operation. That is why Formation owns the recovery phase instead of handing you a garment and a follow-up date.
Preparation starts before the operating room. Health and diet are assessed first, and nutrition, supplements, and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and after surgery so the body builds as much structure as it can while it is healing.
Afterward, lymphatic treatment begins at the first post-operative visit and continues through the weeks that follow, which limits swelling and prevents fluid collections from forming. If a seroma does form, it is drained in office. Abdominoplasty patients get a nurse for the first 24 hours at home.

Abdominoplasty runs longer: back to work at 10 to 14 days, unrestricted exercise at six to eight weeks.
Two scheduling factors are specific to living here. Compression through a Tampa summer is genuinely harder than compression in February, and a garment worn 24 hours a day in August humidity is a real consideration when you pick a date.
