What FaceTite Does For The Neck And Jawline
FaceTite tightens loose skin under the chin and along the jaw without a lift and without a visible scar. A thin probe passes beneath the skin through a puncture the size of a pen tip. A matching electrode rides along the surface above it. Radiofrequency energy travels between the two and contracts the tissue caught in the middle. Patients get a firmer neck and a sharper jaw line without anyone removing skin.
Most people who ask about it are trying to work out whether they need a neck lift yet. Many of them do not. FaceTite occupies the gap between creams and devices that never reach deep enough and surgery that cuts skin away. Dr. Gopal Grandhige, a board-certified general surgeon specializing in aesthetic surgery, performs every case at Formation and uses the same read on every neck before deciding anything.
Brandon patients usually come to this page after trying something else first. That matters, because what failed tells you which layer of the neck is actually the problem.
The Four-Layer Neck Read
Necks age in more than one layer at a time. A treatment aimed at the wrong layer produces a small change and a large disappointment. Before any plan is made, Dr. Grandhige reads four layers in order and assigns each one its own solution.
Layer One, Fat Beneath The Chin
Pinch under the chin. If there is a soft pad that moves between your fingers, that is submental fat. Energy alone will not remove it. Fat comes out with neck liposuction through small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. On most necks this happens in the same visit as the tightening, because removing fat without addressing the skin left behind is how people end up looking hollow rather than defined.
Layer Two, The Platysma And Platysmal Bands
Tip your chin up and clench your jaw. If two vertical cords stand out down the front of the neck, those are platysmal bands, and they are muscle. No amount of skin tightening will flatten them. Bands are a suspension problem, handled with MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, combined with platysmaplasty. Formation is building a dedicated page on that procedure. If your bands are the main event, FaceTite is not your procedure.
Layer Three, Skin And The Fibroseptal Network
This is FaceTite’s layer. Beneath the skin sits the fibroseptal network, a lattice of connective tissue that anchors skin to the structures underneath. When that lattice loosens, skin drapes instead of holding. FaceTite contracts it from underneath. This is the layer almost every non-invasive device claims to reach and almost none actually does.
Layer Four, Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Some jaws are not loose. They are short. If the chin sits back or the angle of the jaw is soft, tightening skin over a small frame gives you a tighter version of the same profile. Projection is built with structural filler, either Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, or Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, placed on bone. A superhero jawline is a frame question before it is a skin question. A dedicated page covering structural filler for the chin and jaw is in development.
Why Depth Of Access Is The Difference
The argument for FaceTite is not the brand and not the radiofrequency. It is where the energy is delivered.
Lasers and microneedling work from the top down. They heat the skin surface and rely on that heat travelling far enough inward to do something useful. It rarely travels far enough. The fibroseptal network sits below the range those tools can safely reach, which is why patients finish a course of surface treatments with better skin texture and the same loose neck.
FaceTite works from the inside out. The internal probe sits in the plane where the lattice lives and treats it directly, with a surface electrode reading tissue temperature throughout so the energy stays inside a controlled window. Collagen remodeling follows over the months afterward and accounts for the slow improvement patients notice at three months and again at six. The remodeling is real. It is a consequence of reaching the right plane, not the reason the procedure works. The same principle drives how FaceTite is used across Tampa at Formation, whatever the treatment area.
One correction worth making, because provider pages get it wrong constantly. The radiofrequency platform behind FaceTite is 510(k) cleared, not FDA approved. Clearance means the device was found substantially equivalent to something already on the market. It is a real regulatory pathway and a lower evidentiary bar than approval, and any practice telling you the device is FDA approved either does not know the difference or is hoping you do not.
Who FaceTite Fits And Who It Does Not
The honest version of candidacy has two halves, and most pages only publish one.
FaceTite fits you if your skin still has recoil. Pull the skin at your jawline gently and let go. Skin that snaps back has elasticity left to work with. Formation treats this procedure as a reasonable option for patients roughly between skin ages 25 and 55, bothered by a double chin or a jaw line that disappears in photographs, and looking for refinement rather than a reset. Weight should be stable, because loose skin over a body still changing size is a moving target.
FaceTite does not fit you if the skin hangs at rest with no crease to pull, if your bands are the dominant feature, or if you have the kind of laxity that needs skin removed. Patients in that group get referred out. Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do excisional neck work well and points patients to the right one. That referral is not a soft decline. Sending someone into a tightening procedure that cannot reach their problem produces a patient who paid for disappointment.
The published evidence sits in the same middle ground. A multicenter retrospective review of 247 patients treating lower face and neck laxity described exactly this treatment gap, patients not severe enough for excisional surgery and not mild enough for non-invasive devices. Ninety-three percent said they were pleased and would repeat the procedure. Reported complications were prolonged swelling past six weeks in 4.8 percent, a hardened area past twelve weeks in 3.2 percent, and marginal mandibular neuropraxia in 1.2 percent, all of which resolved without further intervention. Two limitations belong next to those numbers. The study was retrospective rather than randomized, and it evaluated FaceTite combined with fractional radiofrequency rather than FaceTite by itself. Older patients in the cohort showed larger gains than younger ones.
If tightening turns out to be the wrong tool for your neck but a lift is still too much, a PDO thread lift in Brandon is the other option worth reading about before you decide.
How Formation Prepares You Before And After
The device sitting in the room is identical to the one at every other practice that bought it. What changes the result is everything arranged around it.
Health and diet get assessed before a date goes on the calendar. Treatment Day And The Chin Garment Week
FaceTite for the neck and jaw runs in the office. You take an oral sedative, the area is numbed with local anesthetic, and access is through very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Fat is removed first where layer one calls for it, then the skin is tightened over the muscle and bone underneath. You are awake, and you go home the same day. Most necks are treated as FaceTite with neck liposuction rather than either one alone.
Formation operates in Quad A accredited facilities, and office-based surgery in Florida is separately regulated. The state signed new safety design standards for office surgery suites into law this year, effective July 1, 2026, with the building and fire codes due to be amended by January 2027. Asking any practice where your procedure physically happens, and under what accreditation, is a fair question and a short one.
Recovery follows a shape Formation can predict.
The first few days bring mild swelling, bruising and tightness, with a chin compression garment on.
At one week most patients are back at work and back to social life, wearing the garment twelve to twenty-four hours a day.
Between two and four weeks the swelling settles and the fat removal becomes visible.
At three months the tightening shows, and the jaw line improvement is clear.
Between six and nine months the final result arrives as the skin finishes contracting.
Training resumes at one week. Not two, not six.
Planning The Drive From Brandon
Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue, Suite 102, in Tampa. From central Brandon that is roughly twelve miles. Nobody should call that a short drive, and the way you schedule around it matters more than the distance does.
The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway Reversible Express Lanes exist specifically to move Brandon traffic in and out of Tampa, and the schedule changed on July 13, 2026. The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority dropped the old midday split in favor of a two-direction model. The lanes now run westbound toward Tampa from 5 a.m. until noon on weekdays, then flip and run eastbound toward Brandon from noon until 5 a.m. They stay eastbound on weekends.
That schedule points to one obvious answer. Book a morning appointment. You get the express lanes heading in, and if you leave after midday you get them heading home as well. An afternoon slot loses you the lanes in both directions and puts you on the general lanes through the worst of the eastbound traffic, wearing a chin garment. The expressway is all-electronic tolling, so a transponder or toll-by-plate is the only way through.
For the week afterward, plan around the garment rather than the mirror. Twelve to twenty-four hours a day of chin compression through a Tampa Bay summer is the part patients underestimate, and scheduling in cooler months is a reasonable preference to state out loud. When you return to the gyms along West Brandon Boulevard or East Bloomingdale Avenue at the one-week mark, the garment goes with you. The read comes first. Work out which layer is driving what you see in photographs, then choose the tool that reaches that layer.
