Jawline Fillers In Palma Ceia West, FL
Jawline filler is an in-office injection that adds structure along the jawbone and chin, so the line between your face and neck reads sharper without surgery. At Formation, Dr. Gopal Grandhige, a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery, finds out what’s softening your jaw before any filler goes in. When the problem is structure, filler is the right tool. When it’s fat or loose skin, he’ll say so, and you’ll leave with the plan that fits.
For Palma Ceia West residents, Formation is about two miles east in SoHo. You get the same assessment as every patient who comes in for jawline fillers in Tampa, and a touch-up visit or follow-up check is a short drive.
What Jawline Filler Fixes And Where It Stops
Filler fixes a jaw that lacks structure. It can’t fix a jaw that’s hidden under fat or loose skin. Placed along the jawbone, at the jaw angle and at the chin, it adds projection and a cleaner edge, but it doesn’t remove anything and it doesn’t tighten anything.
Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once, so every jawline at Formation goes through the Four-Layer Neck Read first. Each layer has its own fix:
- Fat under the chin and along the jaw is layer one. It blurs the edge from below, and filler placed over it makes the lower face look heavier. The fix is liposuction for a double chin.
- Platysma muscle and its bands are layer two. Where vertical platysmal bands are present, MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, paired with platysmaplasty is the layer-two answer.
- Skin is layer three. Laxity softens the jaw edge, and energy-based tightening addresses it with FaceTite, a radiofrequency skin-tightening device, or Renuvion, a helium plasma device. The window for that work runs roughly from skin age 25 to 55.
- Chin projection and jaw angle make up layer four. A short chin or a soft angle reads as a weak jaw even on a lean face. This is where filler belongs, and where Formation uses Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, and Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite.
One patient in his 40s, lean and fit, had disliked his jawline in photos for as long as he could remember, and weight loss never changed it. His read pointed to layer one. He had neck liposuction instead of filler, and now he gets into photos instead of avoiding them.
When jowls hang well below the jawline or skin folds at rest, the answer is surgical lifting. Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do that work well and points those patients to the right one.
Hyaluronic Acid Or Calcium Hydroxylapatite For Your Jaw
The two materials do different jobs. The right one depends on how much support your jaw needs and how much room you want to adjust later.
Juvederm For Adjustable Definition
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid gel, and within that line, Volux XC is the formulation used for jawline definition. Hyaluronic acid can be broken down with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, so a contour that settles wrong can be corrected. That reversibility suits a first treatment.
Radiesse For Firmer Support
Radiesse (+) is a calcium hydroxylapatite filler mixed with lidocaine, approved for improving jawline contour. It’s firmer than hyaluronic acid, and over the following months your body lays down its own collagen around the particles. There’s no dissolving agent for it, so it’s placed conservatively.
Its durability data is more specific than the “lasts about a year” line most pages repeat. In a long-term follow-up of the Radiesse (+) jawline trial, 77.9% of treated patients met the improvement threshold at 12 weeks, and 62.9% still did at 48 weeks. Patients retreated at 48 weeks held at 74.6% by week 60, against 43.5% for those who stopped after the first treatment and touch-up. Part of that analysis was post hoc, meaning it wasn’t the trial’s planned endpoint, so treat it as a strong signal rather than a promise.
How Much Filler A Jawline Takes And How Long It Lasts
One syringe is rarely the whole plan. The FDA’s summary of the Juvederm Volux XC jawline trial is the study behind its approval for jawline definition on July 29, 2022. It gives the planning numbers most clinic pages leave out.
The median first session used 4.35 mL, and each syringe holds 1 mL. An optional touch-up came one month later, with a median of 2.0 mL. Across both visits, patients received anywhere from 1.0 to 9.3 mL.
Results faded gradually. The trial’s improvement threshold was at least one point better on both sides of the jaw. The share of patients meeting it was 78.7% at one month, 69.9% at six months and 61.3% at twelve months. At one year, 87 of the 141 patients still in follow-up chose a maintenance treatment. The FDA summary reports that maintenance produced similar results with less than half the injection volume.
Two details matter for planning.
- The trial excluded severe fat under the chin and severe skin laxity. Its results describe layer-four jawlines, which is why the read comes first.
- Men were scarce: 16 of 157 treated participants, with 14 assessed at six months. Male aesthetics is one of Formation’s specialties, so Dr. Grandhige plans a male jaw angle from anatomy rather than from trial averages.
The manufacturer ran the study, which is standard for device approvals.
Your assessment with Dr. Grandhige is an in-office consultation with a fee that applies toward any procedure or product at Formation. If you’d rather start with a conversation, patient coordinator Hanna offers a complimentary virtual evaluation.
Treatment Day At Formation
Jawline filler is done in the office, with the plan set before the first injection. Your read is reviewed, the jaw angle, jawline and chin points are marked, and the product amount for the session is confirmed. Both Juvederm Volux XC and Radiesse (+) contain lidocaine, a numbing agent. In the Volux trial, median pain right after injection was 2 on a 0-to-10 scale.
Formation offers a cannula technique for jawline filler. A blunt-tipped cannula travels along a path under the skin instead of piercing at every point.
A study of 370 dermatologists covering 1.7 million syringes measured vascular occlusion, meaning filler blocking a blood vessel. It occurred once per 6,410 syringes with needles and once per 40,882 with cannulas. In 85% of occlusions, there was no lasting effect. Injectors with more than five years of experience had 70.7% lower odds. The data was self-reported, and the authors note the right instrument depends on the patient, the site and the defect, so some points may still call for a needle.
Expect tenderness, small lumps and swelling for several days. In the Volux trial, most of these responses were mild or moderate and cleared within two weeks. Four of 198 participants had brief chewing discomfort, and all four resolved within three days. Book photos and events at least two weeks after treatment.
Preparation And Recovery Change How Filler Settles
Your health and diet are assessed before treatment. Nutrition, supplements and peptides are then adjusted in the window immediately before and after, so your body builds the most structure it can. With Radiesse, that window matters more, because part of the result is collagen your own body produces.
Medications get the same attention. The Volux trial paused aspirin, ibuprofen and supplements such as garlic and ginkgo for 10 days before injection, and Dr. Grandhige reviews everything you take at the assessment. That’s Formation’s philosophy applied to a syringe. The syringe is identical at every practice in Tampa. The thinking around it is not.
Why A Board-Certified General Surgeon Plans Your Jawline
Your plan comes from Dr. Gopal Grandhige, a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. He trained at the University of Michigan Medical School and Yale University School of Medicine, then completed a general surgery residency. He finished fellowships in burn surgery, critical care, and minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery. He has practiced in Tampa for more than 15 years, and jawline and neck contouring is one of the areas he’s known for.
Credentials are the baseline every patient should expect. The difference is judgment. Dr. Grandhige’s rule is to “do only what is necessary, but do it exceptionally well.” On a jawline, that means respecting the natural jaw angle and building sharpness without an overfilled look. It also means telling you when filler isn’t the answer.
Jawline Filler For Palma Ceia West Residents
Palma Ceia West is the South Tampa neighborhood west of Dale Mabry Highway, bounded by Morrison Avenue to the north and Lois Avenue to the west, with Grady Elementary inside its borders. It’s a separate neighborhood from Palma Ceia, which sits east of Dale Mabry around the design district at MacDill Avenue and Bay to Bay Boulevard.
Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue in SoHo, roughly two miles east. Morrison Avenue, the neighborhood’s northern edge, runs east toward SoHo. That proximity matters for filler. The FDA trial’s touch-up came at one month and maintenance around one year, and both are easier to keep when the office is close.
If your read points to fat or skin rather than structure, Formation’s page on neck and jawline contouring in Palma Ceia West covers that path.
Frequently Asked Questions About Jawline Fillers
In the FDA trial for Juvederm Volux XC, 61.3% of patients still met the improvement threshold at 12 months. Radiesse (+) held at 62.9% at 48 weeks in its long-term follow-up. Plan on maintenance around the one-year mark, which in the Volux trial took less than half the original volume.
More than one in most cases. The Volux trial’s median first session was 4.35 mL, delivered from 1 mL syringes, with an optional touch-up a month later. Your amount depends on your read, your bone structure and how much change you want.
Both Juvederm Volux XC and Radiesse (+) contain lidocaine. In the Volux trial, the median pain score right after injection was 2 on a 0-to-10 scale. Tenderness to touch over the next several days was the most common complaint.
Plan important events at least two weeks out. In the Volux trial, tenderness, small lumps and swelling were common, and most cleared within two weeks. Bruising varies, and a cannula usually means fewer entry points.
No. Filler adds structure, and it doesn’t remove fat or tighten skin. A double chin points to neck liposuction and loose skin to energy-based tightening. Heavy jowls that hang at rest point to surgical lifting, which Formation refers to surgeons who do that work well.
The goals differ: a stronger jaw angle and forward chin projection without softening the face. Men were about one in ten treated participants in the Volux trial, so male plans lean on anatomy more than trial averages. Male aesthetics is one of Formation’s specialties.
Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers like Radiesse have no dissolving agent, which is why they’re placed conservatively.
The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee and covers a full assessment, and that fee applies toward any procedure or product at Formation. Patient coordinator Hanna also offers a complimentary virtual evaluation to review your goals and outline a plan first.
Your Next Step From Palma Ceia West
A sharper jaw starts with knowing which layer is softening it. Filler handles chin projection and the jaw angle, with Juvederm or Radiesse chosen for the support you need. A realistic plan includes a touch-up window and maintenance around a year. Fat, bands and loose skin each have their own fix, and Dr. Grandhige will tell you which one you’re dealing with.

Which one had surgery 1 or 2? 👀
High-definition liposuction goes beyond traditional fat removal. Instead of simply reducing fat evenly, the surgeon strategically removes fat around the underlying muscles to make their natural contours more visible.
But here’s what makes it interesting: HD lipo doesn’t create the same six-pack on everyone. Each person’s anatomy, muscle development, and desired level of definition influence the final result.
Now take another look at these two patients.
Which one do you think had HD liposuction, 1 or 2?

There’s a story behind every decision.
Cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. Yet people who choose it often find themselves having to explain or defend that choice to others.
Some want to restore changes after pregnancy or weight loss. Others have worked hard to get in shape but still have areas they’d like to improve. And some simply want to feel more comfortable with their appearance.
The reasons are different for everyone. And they don’t have to make sense to anyone else.
At Formation, Dr. Gopal believes the decision to pursue cosmetic surgery should be guided by a patient’s personal goals, realistic expectations, and what’s medically appropriate for them.
Because ultimately, the person making that decision is the one who will live with it.

What weight loss can’t fix.
After losing over 100 pounds, this patient had achieved significant weight loss, but was left with excess skin around his abdomen and back that weight loss alone couldn’t address.
During an 8-hour surgery, Dr. Gopal performed a circumferential body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin around the entire midsection to improve body contour.
In this video, Dr. Gopal walks through the procedure, explaining how he removed approximately 3 pounds of skin from the back and estimated another 4–5 pounds would be removed from the abdomen.
He’s also using a small amount of fat collected during the procedure to add volume to the upper chest, improving its contour without performing a separate chest lift.
For patients who have experienced major weight loss, body contouring can help address the excess skin that remains after the weight is gone.

Only 3 months after surgery. And still healing.
This patient had previously undergone a tummy tuck but wanted to improve his abdominal contour, create more definition, and address the appearance of his existing scar.
Dr. Gopal combined several body contouring techniques, including HD liposuction, skin tightening with Renuvion, fat transfer to the chest, and revision of the previous tummy tuck scar.
The result so far? A more defined abdomen, improved body contours, and a revised scar that’s still in the early stages of healing.
At just three months after surgery, these aren’t the final results. Swelling can continue to decrease, and scars typically soften and fade as healing progresses.

Your fat is liquid gold.
The fat you don’t want might be exactly what another part of your body needs.
During liposuction, the fat we remove doesn’t always have to be discarded. In fact, Dr. Gopal refers to it as “liquid gold.”
Why? Because that fat can sometimes be transferred to another area of the body to add volume, enhance natural contours, and create a more balanced shape.
For women, that might mean adding volume to the breasts, hips, or buttocks. For men, fat transfer can help enhance the chest or shoulders.
And because we’re using your own fat, we can potentially improve two areas during the same surgery.
Of course, fat transfer isn’t right for everyone. It’s something Dr. Gopal discusses with patients beforehand and incorporates into the surgical plan when appropriate.

Cosmetic surgery isn’t just cosmetic.
We often measure the success of plastic surgery by what we can see in before-and-after photos. But some of the most meaningful changes happen in ways a photograph can’t capture.
How someone feels about themselves. The confidence they carry into everyday life. The freedom of no longer feeling uncomfortable in their own skin.
For Dr. Gopal, that’s what makes this work so meaningful.
A patient who underwent body contouring in 2025 recently reached out to share how much the experience continues to mean to her.
She didn’t talk about measurements or how her body looked. She talked about how much better her days had become.
And that’s something Dr. Gopal has always believed: Cosmetic surgery isn’t simply about changing how someone looks. It’s about understanding what that change means to the person choosing it.

A flatter stomach without a tummy tuck? 👀
Pregnancy, and sometimes increased pressure from fat deep inside the abdomen, can cause the abdominal muscles to separate down the middle. This is called diastasis recti, and it can make your belly stick out even if you’re otherwise lean.
Traditionally, repairing that separation often meant undergoing a tummy tuck. But what if you don’t have much loose skin to remove?
For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can use robotic-assisted surgery to bring those separated muscles back together through three small incisions, without the long scar associated with a traditional tummy tuck.
That’s exactly what he did for the patient in these before-and-after photos. No tummy tuck. No additional procedures.
**But this approach isn’t for everyone.** If you have significant loose skin or excess fat, a different treatment may be more appropriate. That’s why understanding what’s causing your belly to protrude matters before deciding on surgery.

Why does fluid sometimes collect after surgery?
After certain surgical procedures, fluid can accumulate beneath the skin, forming what’s called a seroma.
In this video, Dr. Gopal demonstrates how he drains a seroma in a patient recovering from diastasis recti repair.
This is one of the reasons postoperative follow-up matters. It allows Dr. Gopal to monitor healing, identify any issues, and address them when necessary.

The fat is gone. But what takes its place?
When fat is removed during liposuction, it leaves behind space beneath the skin. As the body heals, fluid can sometimes collect in that space, creating what’s called a seroma.
And here’s why that matters.
If fluid continues to collect, it can potentially affect the final contour.
That’s why Dr. Gopal pays close attention to fluid buildup during recovery. His approach is to identify seromas early and address them quickly.
