Neck And Jawline Contouring In Parkland Estates, FL
Neck and jawline contouring removes the fat under your chin and tightens the skin along your jaw so your profile matches the rest of you. Dr. Gopal Grandhige reads your neck one layer at a time before recommending anything, a few blocks down Howard Avenue from Parkland Estates.

What Neck And Jawline Contouring Does
Neck and jawline contouring is an in-office procedure that removes fat beneath the chin and along the jaw, then tightens the skin so it settles onto the new shape. Dr. Grandhige performs it with an oral sedative and local anesthesia, through small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Most patients are back at work in about a week.
It’s built for people who are lean everywhere except the neck, where genetics and age can make fit people look heavier and older than they feel.
The target is a clean line from chin to ear that still looks like you when you talk or turn your head. For men the margin is smaller, because a jaw that’s over-softened or pulled too tight starts to look feminized. Dr. Grandhige keeps the natural jaw angle instead of carving a new one, the same eye for proportion behind Formation’s men’s aesthetic surgery work.
A flatter stomach without a tummy tuck? 👀
Pregnancy, and sometimes increased pressure from fat deep inside the abdomen, can cause the abdominal muscles to separate down the middle. This is called diastasis recti, and it can make your belly stick out even if you’re otherwise lean.
Traditionally, repairing that separation often meant undergoing a tummy tuck. But what if you don’t have much loose skin to remove?
For the right patient, Dr. Gopal can use robotic-assisted surgery to bring those separated muscles back together through three small incisions, without the long scar associated with a traditional tummy tuck.
That’s exactly what he did for the patient in these before-and-after photos. No tummy tuck. No additional procedures.
**But this approach isn’t for everyone.** If you have significant loose skin or excess fat, a different treatment may be more appropriate. That’s why understanding what’s causing your belly to protrude matters before deciding on surgery.

Why does fluid sometimes collect after surgery?
After certain surgical procedures, fluid can accumulate beneath the skin, forming what’s called a seroma.
In this video, Dr. Gopal demonstrates how he drains a seroma in a patient recovering from diastasis recti repair.
This is one of the reasons postoperative follow-up matters. It allows Dr. Gopal to monitor healing, identify any issues, and address them when necessary.

The fat is gone. But what takes its place?
When fat is removed during liposuction, it leaves behind space beneath the skin. As the body heals, fluid can sometimes collect in that space, creating what’s called a seroma.
And here’s why that matters.
If fluid continues to collect, it can potentially affect the final contour.
That’s why Dr. Gopal pays close attention to fluid buildup during recovery. His approach is to identify seromas early and address them quickly.

Not every patient who wants surgery is ready for it.
One patient came to Dr. Gopal wanting a tummy tuck. Over the next 18 months, she returned multiple times, having lost more weight each time. And each time, the answer was still no.
Not because she couldn’t have the surgery, but because she wasn’t where she wanted to be yet.
Instead of rushing into surgery, the focus was on helping her reach a healthier, more sustainable weight through nutritional counseling, lifestyle support, and medical weight management.
By the time she had lost 80 pounds, she was ready, both physically and mentally.
For Dr. Gopal, being a good surgeon isn’t just about knowing how to perform a procedure. It’s also about knowing when not to perform one.
Sometimes the best result starts long before the operating room.

Six hours. Hundreds of decisions.
High-definition liposuction is as much about precision as it is about technique.
Dr. Gopal can spend 6–7 hours on a single HD liposuction procedure, carefully evaluating the body’s anatomy, refining muscle definition, and making sure each contour transitions naturally into the next.
And that level of attention doesn’t change as the hours go by.
Because the final result is shaped by hundreds of small decisions made throughout the procedure.

Which one surprised you the most? 👀
Liposuction is one of those procedures people have heard a lot about, but not everything they’ve heard is accurate.
From what liposuction can actually achieve to how long results take to develop, there are plenty of misconceptions that can lead to unrealistic expectations.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige, board-certified plastic surgeon at Formation in Tampa, breaks down some of the most common beliefs about liposuction and explains what’s fact and what’s fiction.

This is not your typical liposuction. 👀
Most people think liposuction is simply about removing unwanted fat. But high-definition liposuction takes a different approach.
Before surgery, Dr. Gopal carefully maps out the patient’s natural anatomy, marking the chest, abdomen, and waist to guide where fat will be removed and where it should be preserved.
Why does that matter?
Because removing fat evenly isn’t necessarily going to create definition. HD liposuction uses strategic fat removal to highlight the underlying muscle structure and create a more sculpted, athletic appearance.
And those lines? They’re part of the planning that makes this level of precision possible.
The photos show an actual patient immediately after surgery. Swelling is still present, and the final results will develop as healing progresses.

Does fat move after lipo?
It’s a common concern, especially when someone notices weight gain in an area that wasn’t treated.
Here’s what actually happens.
The fat cells removed during liposuction are gone permanently. But if someone gains weight afterward, the remaining fat cells can still grow, including in areas that weren’t treated.
The fat didn’t move. The body gained weight.
That’s why Dr. Gopal emphasizes being at a weight patients can realistically maintain before surgery. Not the lowest weight they can reach, but one they can sustain long after recovery.

Want a more sculpted body?
High-definition liposuction takes body contouring a step further. Instead of simply removing excess fat, it focuses on sculpting around the body’s natural muscle structure to create more visible definition and a more athletic contour.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige specializes in HD liposuction, customizing each procedure based on the patient’s anatomy, body shape, and desired level of definition.
Because the goal isn’t to give everyone the same body. It’s to create a result that works with their natural anatomy.

The Four-Layer Neck Read
The Four-Layer Neck Read is how Formation decides what your neck needs before a procedure is booked. Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once, and each layer has its own fix. Treat one layer when two are involved and the neck can look emptied out instead of defined.
Layer One: Fat
Fat is the layer most people come in for, and training rarely reaches it here. Dr. Grandhige removes it with neck liposuction through the incisions under the chin and behind the ears. The fat cells he takes out don’t come back, although the cells left behind can still grow with weight gain.
He leaves some fat in place on purpose, since over-removal under the jaw causes irregular contours and can make a neck age faster.
Layer Three: Skin And Fibroseptal Network
Loose neck skin is often a support problem. The fibroseptal network is the connective tissue that anchors skin to the muscle beneath it, and when it slackens, skin drapes instead of following the jaw.
Renuvion, a helium-plasma energy device, works at the deepest layer of the skin and on the fibroseptal network underneath. Lasers and microneedling work from the top down and can’t reach that foundation. FaceTite, a radiofrequency device, is the other tool Dr. Grandhige uses here. In his usual neck protocol, one of the two follows the fat removal in the same visit so the skin contracts over the muscle and bone underneath.
Tightening works best in skin that behaves roughly like it’s between 25 and 55. That’s skin age, and years of Tampa sun can push it ahead of your birthday.
Layer Two: Platysma Muscle And Platysmal Bands
The platysma is the thin sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When its edges separate, they show as vertical cords called platysmal bands. Liposuction doesn’t touch them, and tightened skin won’t hide them.
Where bands are present, the layer-two plan is MyEllevate, a permanent suspension suture, placed with platysmaplasty to support the muscle from below. Barbed threads dissolve over time. The MyEllevate suture is nonabsorbable and can be removed, and its lift is there the day it’s placed, which energy tightening can’t match. If your neck has no bands, this layer is left alone.
Layer Four: Chin Projection And Jaw Angle
Some necks look full because the chin sits back, and removing fat can’t create projection the frame doesn’t have. When the frame is the short layer, Radiesse, a calcium hydroxylapatite, and Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid, add structure at the chin and the jaw angle. This is the layer behind what patients call a superhero jawline. Overbuilding it is easy to spot, so the aim is a jaw that fits your face.
Recovery Week By Week
Most people are back to work and training in about a week, and the final result arrives at six to nine months.
- First few days: mild swelling, bruising and tightness, with a chin compression garment on.
- About one week: back to work and the gym, with the chin garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day.
- Two to four weeks: swelling keeps settling and the fat removal becomes visible.
- Three months: skin tightening shows, along with a clear change in the jawline.
- Six to nine months: the final result, once tightening is complete.
Formation works to a 60/40 Recovery Standard: in Dr. Grandhige’s estimate the procedure is about 60 percent of your result and aftercare the other 40. Poor post-op care can undo a well-performed operation, so recovery visits are scheduled and checked.
Plan backward from any date that matters. Three months is the minimum lead time before a wedding or photographed event if you want the tightening to show, and six months gets you close to the final result. A procedure three weeks before a trip means traveling with the fat change visible and swelling still settling.
Contour irregularity is the complication to know about. In a published French series of 695 patients treated with submental liposuction under local anesthesia, complications were minimal and irregularity was the main one, which can be managed with massage and ultrasound. It was one surgeon’s retrospective review of a protocol without energy tightening, not Formation’s patients, so read it as a general signal. em-consulte
Preparation And Recovery Planning
Formation assesses your health and diet before your procedure is scheduled. In the window just before and after treatment, nutrition, supplements and peptides are adjusted so your body builds as much new support tissue as it can. Protein intake and inflammation control get specific guidance, and the nutrition and coaching providers involved are ones Dr. Grandhige has vetted himself.
This follows Formation’s philosophy that surgery is one part of a longer process. Any practice can buy the same Renuvion handpiece. What happens to your body in the weeks around it is where results separate.
Who We Ask To Wait
Dr. Grandhige tells some patients to wait and points a few elsewhere, because the right procedure at the wrong time still gives a weak result. He sees his job as guiding you to the right decision, even when that means holding off.
- A weight that’s still changing is a reason to wait. Fat removed from the neck stays gone, but a big swing changes the face around it.
- Skin outside the tightening window, or skin that hangs at rest, needs an excisional neck lift. Formation stays in contact with surgeons who do that work well and points you to the right one.
- Prominent platysmal bands mean the plan has to include layer two, or the result will look unfinished.
- An event less than three months away usually means booking after it.
Dr. Grandhige And The Team
Dr. Gopal Grandhige is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. He isn’t a plastic surgeon, and he says so plainly. His board certification is through the American Board of Surgery.
He trained at the University of Michigan Medical School and first matched into Yale’s six-year combined plastic surgery residency before completing a full general surgery residency. Fellowship training followed in burn surgery and critical care, plus minimally invasive metabolic and foregut surgery. He has more than 15 years in surgery and several thousand procedures behind him, which is why he plans a neck around how tissue heals.
At any neck consultation, ask four things: who plans the case, which layer each step treats, who assists in the room and how long follow-up lasts. At Formation the answers are Dr. Grandhige himself, the layer map above, his own physician assistant and a full year.
The Worry Patients Raise First
The fear Formation hears most is that the result won’t look natural, usually put as a worry that coworkers will be able to tell. Many patients mention it to the staff before the surgeon. The team passes those concerns along so Dr. Grandhige can answer them in your consultation without you having to ask.
One patient, a professional in his 40s, had always carried fullness under his chin despite staying fit, and he hated how he looked in photos. Dr. Grandhige performed targeted neck liposuction with jawline contouring and kept the natural jaw angles. He held back on aggressive tightening. Colleagues told the patient he looked rested. He said his face finally matched the rest of his body, and he started getting into pictures again. Comparable profiles are in Formation’s before-and-after gallery.
Getting Here From Parkland Estates
Formation is at 1315 South Howard Avenue, Suite 102, a few blocks south of where Parkland Estates meets Howard Avenue. The neighborhood runs from Swann Avenue south to Morrison Avenue and from Lincoln Avenue east to Howard. The clinic sits about a third of a mile below the Howard and Morrison corner and a little over a mile by car from the Lincoln Avenue side. Take Swann or Morrison east to Howard, then head south. Wikipedia
That distance changes early recovery. Formation arranges nearby hotel stays for patients who travel in, and Dr. Grandhige visits them in their rooms during the first days. Parkland Estates patients usually recover at home, and the first-week visit is a short drive. You’ll still need someone to drive you home on procedure day, since an oral sedative is part of it.
For neighborhoods farther out, our main page on neck and jawline contouring in Tampa covers the procedure citywide.
Booking A Consultation Or Virtual Evaluation
You can start in person or by video. The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige is a full surgical assessment that carries a fee, and the fee can be applied toward any procedure or product at Formation. Plan on about an hour. If you’d rather talk first, Formation offers a complimentary virtual evaluation by video with patient coordinator Hanna, who reviews your goals and outlines a plan before you decide to come in.
Frequently Asked Questions About Neck And Jawline Contouring
About one week for work and training, with a chin garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day. Tightening shows at three months and the final result at six to nine.
The change is long-lasting. Your face keeps aging, but clearing fat here can slow how quickly laxity shows later, and large weight gain can still affect the fat that remains.
That’s the outcome Dr. Grandhige plans around. He preserves your natural jaw angles and avoids an over-tightened look. People tend to say you look rested without realizing a procedure was involved.
Skin age matters more than your birthday, and tightening works best in skin that behaves roughly like 25 to 55. Past that, or with skin that hangs at rest, Formation points you to a surgeon who performs excisional neck lifts.
The Four-Layer Neck Read answers that. In Dr. Grandhige’s usual protocol, Renuvion or FaceTite follows the fat removal, but some necks need less, and he’ll tell you if yours does.
Both reached the market through the FDA’s 510(k) clearance pathway, which is a different route from FDA approval.
MyEllevate is a nonabsorbable suture that can be removed, while barbed threads dissolve, and its lift is present the day it’s placed. Formation uses it with platysmaplasty only when platysmal bands are present.
The in-office consultation with Dr. Grandhige carries a fee, and it can be applied toward any procedure or product at Formation. You can also start with a complimentary virtual evaluation by video with Hanna, the patient coordinator.
Start With The Layer That’s Bothering You
A neck that looks heavier than the rest of you usually has more than one cause, and the fix depends on which layers are involved. Formation reads all four before recommending anything, and Dr. Grandhige stays involved from your first evaluation through a full year of follow-up. The clinic is a few blocks down Howard Avenue from Parkland Estates and open Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. Call (813) 922-2920 or use the form below to request your consultation.
