Yes, you can usually take a multivitamin after PRP. The real answer depends on what’s inside the bottle. A basic daily multivitamin is fine for most people. The catch is that some multivitamins pack high doses of vitamin E, vitamin A, or fish oil, and those are the exact ingredients we ask you to pause around a platelet-rich plasma treatment. So the question isn’t “multivitamin, yes or no.” It’s “which ingredients, and when.”
I’m Jeff Atlas, PA-C. I handle the PRP injections at Formation in Tampa. Dr. Gopal Grandhige owns the clinic and runs the medical side, but I’m the one holding the needle. My last job was in orthopedics, and that carries straight into this work.
Most people can. A standard multivitamin won’t undo your results. The caution is about specific ingredients at high doses, not the multivitamin category itself.
A multivitamin after PRP is safe for the average patient as long as it doesn’t carry high-dose vitamin E, vitamin A, fish oil, or added herbal blood thinners. Those ingredients can slow platelet activity, which is the process PRP depends on to release growth factors and begin repair. Read the label, not just the front of the box.
If your multivitamin is a plain one-a-day with normal amounts of each nutrient, keep taking it. It won’t change whether you see results. The blend to watch is the loaded “performance” or “hair, skin, and nails” type with mega-doses and oils.
PRP works by starting a small, controlled healing response. We draw your blood, spin it down to concentrate the platelets, and inject that back into the target area. A finished sample can hold five to ten times the platelets of normal blood. Those platelets set off a short burst of inflammation that jump-starts repair.
Anything that thins your blood or blocks inflammation can quiet that signal. Blood-thinning supplements do it in a soft way. NSAID-type pain drugs do it hard.
The part patients miss is simpler. PRP isn’t a compound we order from a catalog. It’s your own blood. So there’s no research-grade versus human-grade question here the way there is with peptides. Some clinics also offer a version called PRF, but the platelet basics carry over. What matters is prep quality and what’s circulating in your system on the day of treatment.
A short list of common supplements can interfere with platelet function, so we pause them for a window before and after PRP. Timing depends on how strong the effect is.
A 2024 clinical review found that COX-blocking drugs measurably lower platelet aggregation, and these supplements do a gentler version of the same thing. This is also why some clinics tell patients to drop their multivitamin for about a week. The concern is the vitamin E and vitamin A hiding inside the blend, not the multivitamin itself.
Some vitamins do the opposite of interfere. They give your body better material to repair with. Vitamin C helps build collagen, which matters for tendons, ligaments, and skin. Vitamin D plays a role in immune response and bone repair. Protein gives your tissue the raw blocks to rebuild.
You don’t have to stop these. In most cases we want you on them. The trick is starting a few weeks before treatment, not the morning of, so your levels are already where we want them when the platelets go to work.
Good nutrition is also part of how you maintain your results over the months that follow.
Not always, and this is where common advice gets lazy. People assume vitamins only help. But a multivitamin can quietly work against PRP because it often contains vitamin E and vitamin A, both mild blood thinners. “It can’t hurt” is exactly the belief that leads someone to double up on a hair-growth blend the week of treatment.
Now the flip side, because the internet overcorrects too. A 2021 narrative review found the evidence that blood thinners actually ruin PRP outcomes is thinner than the blanket warnings suggest. Bigger reviews echo that, noting results vary person to person and the science is still settling. A lot of the “stop everything for a month” advice is precaution, not proof.
My approach is simple. I don’t ask patients to empty their cabinet for weeks. That’s overkill. I pause the few ingredients that clearly affect platelets, for a short window, because the downside of pausing is basically zero and the upside is protecting your result. Protect what you came in for. Skip the rest of the fear.
We don’t hand out a generic supplement list. We look at what you actually take and why. Formation is a regenerative medicine clinic in Tampa, and we keep a concierge dietician on the team, so if you’re on fish oil for your heart or vitamin D for a real deficiency, stopping cold isn’t always the right move. The dietician helps us decide what to pause, what to keep, and what to swap for the short window around your treatment.
Before any of it, we confirm the basics, including the times PRP isn’t the right call, like during pregnancy. The same logic runs through the rest of our regenerative work: intentional, planned, and matched to your goal.
Formation holds SSRP and ISSCA certification, the organizations that vet how clinics run peptides, exosomes, and stem cells. PRP is simpler than those therapies, but the same prep standards apply. Dr. Gopal Grandhige, our founder and a board-certified general surgeon, oversees the medical side. I handle the injections. Our main clinic is in Tampa, though we treat patients in other locations too.
Most patients can resume a plain multivitamin, vitamin C, and vitamin D within about 48 to 72 hours. Blood-thinning supplements like fish oil and high-dose vitamin E wait longer, usually a week to ten days, since they linger in your system.
One class needs its own timeline. If you take anti-inflammatory pain medication, plan to hold it for 5 to 7 days before and 7 to 14 days after, since it blunts the same platelet response. Acetaminophen is the usual stand-in for soreness, though a few clinics limit even that.
Movement follows a similar rule. Ask about when you can exercise after PRP, because ramping up too fast can set back the same tissue you’re trying to repair. And since PRP usually runs as a series, you’ll repeat this short pause each time.
In most cases, yes. A standard daily multivitamin is fine after PRP. The exception is a multivitamin loaded with high-dose vitamin E, vitamin A, or fish oil, since those can slow the platelet activity PRP depends on. Check the label and ask your provider if you're unsure.
Most providers ask patients to pause fish oil and other omega-3s about 7 to 10 days before PRP. Fish oil lowers thromboxane, a molecule that helps platelets activate, so stopping it protects the growth-factor release your treatment relies on.
Yes. Vitamin C supports collagen production, which helps tendons, ligaments, and skin repair. It doesn't thin your blood or block the platelet response, so most patients can keep taking it before and after treatment.
Not really. The same ingredients that matter after treatment, mainly high-dose vitamin E and vitamin A, matter before it. Some clinics ask patients to pause a multivitamin for about a week on each side of treatment, mostly because of what's hidden in the blend rather than the multivitamin itself.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is usually the preferred choice for soreness after PRP. Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory drugs are the ones to avoid, ideally for 5 to 7 days before and 7 to 14 days after, because they blunt the platelet response that drives healing.
Vitamin D doesn't interfere with PRP and may support recovery, since it plays a role in immune response and bone and tissue repair. Most patients can continue it throughout treatment. Starting a few weeks ahead is better than starting the day of your session.

The last one got 11/10.
Some of the biggest factors affecting liposuction results have nothing to do with what happens in the operating room.
Dr. Gopal rates 13 factors that can influence the final result, from working out before surgery and maintaining a stable weight to compression garments, skin elasticity, and lymphatic massage.
A few of his ratings might surprise you.
For example, he rates skin elasticity a 10/10 because even after the fat is removed, the skin still needs to contract and settle over the new contour.
And lymphatic massage? He gives it an 11/10 because of the role it plays in his recovery protocol, helping manage swelling and supporting how the skin settles over the newly sculpted areas.
The takeaway: great liposuction results depend on more than the surgery itself.
Patient preparation, anatomy, recovery, and long-term weight maintenance all play a role.

Six to seven hours.
That’s how long an HD liposuction procedure can take with Dr. Gopal’s approach.
He’s not simply removing fat. He’s evaluating every square inch, considering the underlying anatomy, and shaping how each contour transitions into the next.
It’s detailed, physically demanding work.
So when Dr. Gopal says, “Someone’s gotta sweat for the fat to come off,” he means it.

Will neck lipo give you the jawline you want?
It depends…
Someone can have fullness under the chin and assume the answer is neck liposuction. But what looks like “fat” from the outside can actually come from several different structures.
Some fat sits directly beneath the skin and can respond very well to liposuction.
But fullness can also come from deeper fat beneath the platysma, the salivary glands under the jaw, muscles under the chin, or even the natural projection of the chin and jaw itself.
That distinction can completely change what neck liposuction can realistically accomplish.
This is why evaluating the anatomy matters before deciding on a procedure.
For the right anatomy, neck liposuction can create a significant change in the neck and jawline.
But when deeper structures are contributing to the fullness, liposuction alone may not create the contour someone is expecting.
A good neck lipo consultation should figure that out first.

Want more definition than workouts gave you?
Traditional liposuction focuses primarily on removing fat. HD liposuction goes further. It requires understanding the underlying muscle anatomy, where to remove fat, where to preserve it, and how each contour works together to create natural-looking definition.
That’s the art of it. The goal isn’t to give every patient the same abs or the same body. It’s to work with the anatomy that’s already there and determine how much definition will look right for that individual.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige specializes in high-definition liposuction and advanced body contouring, using nearly two decades of surgical experience to create results that look sculpted, athletic, and intentional.

Defined abs with HD liposuction.
Unlike traditional liposuction, where the primary goal is removing excess fat, HD liposuction is about strategically removing fat to reveal and enhance the underlying muscle structure.
Those markings you see before surgery help Dr. Gopal map out the patient’s anatomy and plan where to remove fat and where to preserve it to create more visible definition.
The second clip was taken immediately after surgery, so this is not the final result. Swelling and bruising will change significantly as the body heals and the final contour develops over the months that follow.

Skin quality changes everything.
Neck liposuction can create a more defined jawline and neck contour by removing unwanted fat, but the result also depends heavily on skin quality and elasticity.
When skin has good elasticity, neck lipo alone may be enough for the skin to contract around the new contour. With some skin laxity, Dr. Gopal may combine liposuction with a skin-tightening treatment such as Renuvion or FaceTite. With significant laxity, a neck lift may be the more appropriate option.
That’s why evaluating the skin is an important part of determining the right approach before neck liposuction.

Liposuction can change more than the body.
I’ve watched patients become more confident, make changes in their careers, show up differently in their relationships, and start making different choices for themselves.
That’s when I know I’ve done my job well.
Because high-definition liposuction isn’t only about creating a leaner, more defined physique. Sometimes the physical transformation becomes the catalyst for changes that reach far beyond the operating room.

Male liposuction requires a different approach.
The contours that create a more feminine shape aren’t necessarily the same ones that create a strong, athletic male physique.
With male high-definition liposuction, Dr. Gopal considers how the chest, abdomen, waist, ribs and back work together—and how the underlying muscle anatomy should guide where definition and shadow are created.
That’s also why the chest matters. A highly defined abdomen and back paired with a rounder, less-defined chest can make the overall result feel out of proportion.
The goal is a cohesive, athletic contour that works with the patient’s natural anatomy.

Choosing a liposuction surgeon isn’t just about looking at before-and-afters.
Liposuction isn’t simply about removing fat. Decisions around how much to remove, which areas to treat, skin quality, post-op care and recovery can all influence the approach to your result.
How a surgeon answers these questions can tell you a lot about how they think, plan and care for their patients.

6 months post high-definition liposuction with moderate definition.
The goal wasn’t just less fat. It was a leaner, more athletic contour with visible definition through the abdomen and torso, without pushing the result to the highest level of definition.
High-definition liposuction strategically sculpts around the underlying anatomy and can be customized based on a patient’s anatomy, muscle structure, and the degree of definition they want to achieve.
For this patient, moderate definition created the balance Dr. Gopal was looking for.
Results vary by patient and depend on individual anatomy, skin quality, and treatment plan.
