Start with the board, not the phrase. A Florida medical license isn’t specialty specific. It’s the legal minimum to practice medicine, and it doesn’t restrict any licensed physician to particular procedures. Board certification is a separate voluntary credential tied to a defined specialty, a required residency length, and an examination. “Cosmetic surgeon” isn’t a protected term, and “board certified” means nothing until you know which board.

Fat cells taken out don’t come back, so results hold as long as weight stays stable.
Neck and jawline contouring is usually performed in the office under local anesthesia with an oral sedative, through small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Most necks show aging in more than one layer at once, which is why fat removal alone often falls short. Renuvion, a helium plasma and radiofrequency device, or FaceTite, a radiofrequency device, then reaches the deepest layer of the skin and the fibroseptal network beneath it, a depth lasers and microneedling can’t get to from the surface. Candidates generally have reasonable skin elasticity, roughly skin ages 25 to 55.
A tummy tuck corrects what liposuction can’t reach: loose or damaged abdominal skin, muscle separation from pregnancy or weight change, and lost core integrity. Muscle repair is part of the operation when separation is present. Patients frequently report better posture and less back discomfort alongside the change in shape.

Skin either recoils or it doesn’t, and the answer decides the operation. Dr. Grandhige runs the Formation Tighten-Or-Remove Line before committing to a plan.
Check one, recoil. Skin is pinched and released. Does it return toward the body, or does it sit where you left it?
Check two, the standing fold. With the patient upright and relaxed, does skin hang at rest? A fold that exists standing still will still exist after any amount of energy tightening.
Check three, the abdominal wall. Is there muscle separation? Diastasis is structural, and no skin treatment addresses it.
Clear all three and energy-based tightening is a reasonable finisher on the abdomen or flanks. Fail the standing fold or the wall check and the honest answer is excision, which is exactly why the line exists. Dr. Grandhige performs abdominoplasty, lower body lift, 360 contouring, and revision cases himself rather than referring them out. Patients whose needs sit past what any of that reaches get pointed toward surgeons who do that work well.
Early walking is real post-operative instruction, and in Temple Terrace the limiting factor isn’t distance. It’s heat.
Book a body case in late August and your first four weeks of continuous compression land in the hottest stretch Tampa gets. Neck and jawline patients follow a shorter arc. Back to training at one week, with the chin garment worn 12 to 24 hours a day.
Dr. Grandhige puts the split plainly, and Formation calls it the 60/40 Recovery Standard: the operation is about 60 percent of the result and post-operative care is the other 40. Bad aftercare can undo a well-performed surgery.
For a high-definition liposuction patient, twelve months looks roughly like this. Week 1, first post-operative visit and lymphatic treatment begins; if a seroma has formed it’s drained in the office. Weeks 2 to 4, lymphatic sessions about twice weekly then tapering, compression continuous, protein and inflammation guidance throughout. Week 6, contour and garment review. Month 3, definition check. Month 6, contour maturity review. Month 12, final assessment, with skin pliability and sensation normalized.
That’s roughly sixteen appointments across a year. From Temple Terrace, at 25 to 35 minutes each way depending on the hour, you’re looking at somewhere between sixteen and twenty hours behind the wheel over twelve months.
The fix is scheduling, not proximity. Your trip to South Howard runs southbound on I-275 in the morning and northbound in the afternoon, which is the peak direction both ways. Book mid-morning after 9:30 or early afternoon before 3:00 and the same drive routinely drops closer to twenty-five minutes. Front-load the appointments you can control and the year stops feeling like a logistics problem.
The one window where the drive genuinely matters is the first 72 hours after a body case. Arrange a ride. Formation also runs hotel relationships, overnight nursing, and hotel-room visits for patients who travel in from Orlando, Naples, or Atlanta, and Temple Terrace patients occasionally use the same setup for the first night.
Preparation is treated as part of the procedure rather than an administrative step.
Health and diet are assessed before treatment. Nutrition, supplements, and peptides are adjusted in the window immediately before and after surgery so the body builds the most structure it can while it’s healing. Protein intake, inflammation control, lymphatic flow, and compression planning are all set before the operating room rather than improvised afterward. Providers for lymphatic work, nutrition, and coaching are ones Dr. Grandhige has personally vetted, not a referral list.
