Selank is a synthetic peptide first developed in Russia as a treatment for stress and anxiety. It’s based on a natural immune peptide called tuftsin. Most people take it as a nasal spray. It calms by steadying the brain chemicals tied to focus and stress, and research has compared its calming effect to common anti-anxiety drugs, but without the sedation or dependence those drugs can bring.
The mechanism explains the timing. Selank nudges GABA, serotonin, and dopamine signaling and raises BDNF, a protein that supports brain-cell health. Instead of overriding your receptors, it supports the systems already there. That’s likely why it doesn’t build tolerance the way benzodiazepines do.
Hallmarks of aging addressed: chronic inflammation (inflammaging) and altered intercellular communication. Selank has been shown to shift inflammatory signaling molecules like IL-6, and its effect on BDNF supports brain-cell signaling. Both sit among the cellular drivers of how the body ages.
