Bruising after a PRP injection is common, and it’s almost always harmless. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. The bruise is short-lived. The results side, like how long PRP lasts for hair, runs on a much slower clock measured in months, so don’t judge your outcome by a mark that’s gone in a week.

Now the contrarian piece. Plenty of online guides tell you to pop ibuprofen for soreness. After PRP, I’d push back on that. PRP works by setting off a controlled wave of inflammation, and that’s the exact process anti-inflammatories shut down. Reaching for heavy NSAIDs can work against the treatment you just sat through. Actually, let me sharpen that. One tablet won’t wreck your result. It’s routine ibuprofen during the early window that’s a bad habit for PRP. Ask your provider what’s safe for pain. Many lean on acetaminophen and arnica instead.
Recovery isn’t only about cold packs. Rest, hydration, and good nutrition all help your body support tissue repair while the bruise clears, so treat the days after your session like part of the treatment.
