There’s no FDA-approved schedule for how many days a week to take AOD-9604. The routines passed around online usually say a small daily dose, sometimes five days on and two days off, run in multi-week cycles. That pattern didn’t come from a regulator or an approved label. It came from forums and sellers.
Those charts leave out two facts. AOD-9604’s largest human trial did not beat a placebo. And the FDA has moved to keep it off the list of substances pharmacies are allowed to compound. So the schedule isn’t the real question. Whether this peptide belongs in your plan at all is.
AOD-9604 is a lab-made piece of human growth hormone, the 16-amino-acid tail that handles fat metabolism. It was built to trigger fat breakdown and block new fat storage without raising blood sugar or IGF-1. Researchers first tested it as an anti-obesity drug in the early 2000s.
That’s the clean version. The messier truth is that a signal in a test tube is not the same as a result in a body. AOD-9604 got popular in wellness circles years after its drug program stalled. Today it shows up in gray-market vials and influencer bundles far more than in any real peptide therapy plan built by a clinician.
If you want the number people share, current practitioner protocols use a daily subcutaneous dose or a five-on, two-off pattern, run inside an 8 to 12 week cycle with time off after. I’ll be blunt about it: that’s a routine for a compound that flopped in its own biggest trial. No regulator set that frequency. No approved label backs it.
That’s not how we work at Formation. Frequency for any peptide should come from a clinician after they check whether you’re even a fit, not from a card that ships with a vial. This piece also isn’t a reconstitution or injection how-to. Dosing math for an unapproved peptide belongs in a clinic, not a blog post.
There’s no head-to-head study comparing these two patterns. AOD-9604 clears the body in minutes, so daily use is meant to keep exposure steady. The five-on, two-off pattern is used mostly for habit and cost, not because data shows it works better. When the science is this thin, the “best” frequency is a guess dressed up as a protocol.
No. The human trials used oral doses starting at 1 mg and going far higher, up into the tens of milligrams. The small microgram injections people use today were carried over from animal studies and observation after the drug program ended. There’s no published human subcutaneous study to anchor them, which is a detail almost no seller mentions.
AOD-9604 was never approved as a fat-loss drug, so it has no official dose or frequency. The company that developed it ran the trials, saw weak results, and walked away.
Here’s the arc most marketing hides. A 12-week study found the 1 mg daily group lost about 2.6 kg versus 0.8 kg on placebo. That’s the number sellers love to quote. But the larger 24-week trial, with roughly 500 people, failed to beat placebo on its main goal, and the difference averaged under a kilogram. Development stopped in 2007. A safety review by Stier and colleagues pooling six placebo-controlled trials, around 900 people, found the safety profile looked like placebo, with no IGF-1 changes and no antibodies against the peptide. Safe, yes. Effective for real fat loss, no. The FDA’s compounding advisory committee later voted against adding it to the list pharmacies can compound, pointing to limited safety data and immune-reaction concerns for injectable use.
Here’s where I’ll correct myself. Calling AOD-9604 a “fat-loss drug” isn’t right. It’s a fat-metabolism signal that nudges one pathway. The body notices and pushes back through others. That theme comes back below.
This is the part almost nobody selling peptides will say out loud. The AOD-9604 you can order online is almost always stamped “research use only” or “not for human consumption.” That label isn’t red tape. It means the material was never made, tested, or cleared for a person.
Human-grade compounds come from licensed compounding pharmacies under a prescription, made under real quality rules. Research-grade vials come from labs with zero oversight for human use. Purity, dose, and contamination are all a coin flip, and reconstituted product that turns cloudy or gels is a common complaint. It’s illegal to prescribe, dispense, buy, or inject those research-grade molecules into a human body.
At Formation, injections are handled by Jeff Atlas, PA-C, who came to us from orthopaedics and brings that experience to every session. He does the hands-on treatment under the medical direction of Dr. Gopal Grandhige, a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. The clinic holds SSRP certification and ISSCA certification, the bodies that certify peptides, exosomes, and stem cells. We use legal, human-grade compounds only. If a substance can’t be sourced that way, we don’t offer it. AOD-9604 sits in that gray zone right now, which is exactly why a clinic that plays by the rules won’t hand it to you.
Peptides are having a moment. Social media turned them into a DIY hobby, complete with sales funnels, gray-market sourcing, and self-experimentation. That’s a trend cycle. It isn’t a care model.
But hype around peptides doesn’t make peptides a fad. Insulin is a peptide, and insulin isn’t a trend. It’s a powerful molecule that saves lives when used right and harms people when used wrong. Peptides live on that same line. They aren’t good or bad. What matters is whether they’re used on purpose, for the right person, with monitoring and a way to check for safety risks. A vial is not a strategy. Before we reach for any peptide, we answer five things:
The most expensive mistake I see isn’t the vial. It’s spending months cycling a peptide with no measurable change while proven options sit on the table.
Picture your body as a seesaw. One side is building: protein, resistance training, growth signals, repair, muscle. The other side is renewal: fasting windows, cellular cleanup, clearing out damaged cells. Health lives in the swing between them, not in pinning the board to one end.
Most mistakes come from living on one side. Always eating, never fasting. Always training, never recovering. A fat-metabolism peptide pushes one lever on one pathway, and the body compensates through others. That’s why single-lever tricks underwhelm. Real change, the kind that also helps body contouring results hold up, comes from pushing a goal through several pathways at once so the body can’t quietly undo the work.
Hallmarks addressed (in theory): deregulated nutrient-sensing and mitochondrial dysfunction. AOD-9604 aims at fat metabolism, which touches how cells sense and use energy. In theory, better fat oxidation supports metabolic flexibility and eases strain on the mitochondria that make cellular energy.
I say “in theory” for a reason. The human data behind those claims is thin. If someone tells you a fat-loss peptide reverses aging, they’re selling, not explaining. Peptides, exosomes, and stem cells can fine-tune the work you’re already doing. They don’t do the work for you.
Your lifestyle drives fat loss. A peptide, at best, makes efficient work a little more efficient. If you want to support the same fat-metabolism pathway AOD-9604 aims at, these move the needle far more reliably, and they cost nothing:
This is why the model at Formation pairs any therapy with a concierge dietitian on staff. Food and training are the engine. Everything else is a passenger.
Formation is a regenerative medicine clinic in Tampa, with services available in other locations too, though the main clinic stays in Tampa. The regenerative side stands on its own, separate from aesthetic surgery. It starts with an honest look at whether a therapy fits you, tracked with real tools like waist measurements, photos, and body-composition scans rather than the bathroom scale.
Jeff Atlas, PA-C performs the injections, the concierge dietitian builds the nutrition plan, and Dr. Grandhige, who founded Formation, oversees the medical side. If a compound like AOD-9604 can’t be sourced legally as human-grade, we’ll tell you plainly and point you toward tools with stronger evidence. That’s the line between a care plan and a trend. So the honest answer to how many days a week to take AOD-9604 is this: not on your own, and not from a chart online. Call (813) 922-2920 or book a consultation to find what actually fits your goals.
In current practitioner protocols, AOD-9604 is used daily, or five days on and two days off, inside an 8 to 12 week cycle at roughly 250 to 500 mcg per subcutaneous dose. None of that comes from an approved label. Frequency should be set by a clinician after a candidacy check, not copied from a forum.
The human evidence is weak. A 12-week trial showed about 2.6 kg of loss on 1 mg daily versus 0.8 kg on placebo, but the larger 24-week trial failed to beat placebo and development stopped in 2007. Reported fat loss, if any, is subtle and depends on diet and exercise.
The FDA's compounding advisory committee voted against adding AOD-9604 to the list of substances pharmacies may compound, citing safety and immune-reaction concerns. Vials sold online are labeled "research use only," and it is illegal to prescribe, dispense, buy, or inject those research-grade molecules for human use.
No. AOD-9604 is a growth hormone fragment aimed at fat breakdown, while semaglutide is an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication that lowers appetite. Semaglutide has large Phase 3 trials behind it, and AOD-9604 does not.
With objective measures, not the bathroom scale. Waist measurements, progress photos, and body-composition scans separate real change from water weight or normal daily swings, which is why guided care beats guessing.
Start with a clinician assessment and legal, human-grade compounds only. Build the plan around training, protein, sleep, and monitoring, and add a peptide only if it fits your goal. At Formation, injections are done by Jeff Atlas, PA-C, with a concierge dietitian handling nutrition.
The last one got 11/10.
Some of the biggest factors affecting liposuction results have nothing to do with what happens in the operating room.
Dr. Gopal rates 13 factors that can influence the final result, from working out before surgery and maintaining a stable weight to compression garments, skin elasticity, and lymphatic massage.
A few of his ratings might surprise you.
For example, he rates skin elasticity a 10/10 because even after the fat is removed, the skin still needs to contract and settle over the new contour.
And lymphatic massage? He gives it an 11/10 because of the role it plays in his recovery protocol, helping manage swelling and supporting how the skin settles over the newly sculpted areas.
The takeaway: great liposuction results depend on more than the surgery itself.
Patient preparation, anatomy, recovery, and long-term weight maintenance all play a role.

Six to seven hours.
That’s how long an HD liposuction procedure can take with Dr. Gopal’s approach.
He’s not simply removing fat. He’s evaluating every square inch, considering the underlying anatomy, and shaping how each contour transitions into the next.
It’s detailed, physically demanding work.
So when Dr. Gopal says, “Someone’s gotta sweat for the fat to come off,” he means it.

Will neck lipo give you the jawline you want?
It depends…
Someone can have fullness under the chin and assume the answer is neck liposuction. But what looks like “fat” from the outside can actually come from several different structures.
Some fat sits directly beneath the skin and can respond very well to liposuction.
But fullness can also come from deeper fat beneath the platysma, the salivary glands under the jaw, muscles under the chin, or even the natural projection of the chin and jaw itself.
That distinction can completely change what neck liposuction can realistically accomplish.
This is why evaluating the anatomy matters before deciding on a procedure.
For the right anatomy, neck liposuction can create a significant change in the neck and jawline.
But when deeper structures are contributing to the fullness, liposuction alone may not create the contour someone is expecting.
A good neck lipo consultation should figure that out first.

Want more definition than workouts gave you?
Traditional liposuction focuses primarily on removing fat. HD liposuction goes further. It requires understanding the underlying muscle anatomy, where to remove fat, where to preserve it, and how each contour works together to create natural-looking definition.
That’s the art of it. The goal isn’t to give every patient the same abs or the same body. It’s to work with the anatomy that’s already there and determine how much definition will look right for that individual.
Dr. Gopal Grandhige specializes in high-definition liposuction and advanced body contouring, using nearly two decades of surgical experience to create results that look sculpted, athletic, and intentional.

Defined abs with HD liposuction.
Unlike traditional liposuction, where the primary goal is removing excess fat, HD liposuction is about strategically removing fat to reveal and enhance the underlying muscle structure.
Those markings you see before surgery help Dr. Gopal map out the patient’s anatomy and plan where to remove fat and where to preserve it to create more visible definition.
The second clip was taken immediately after surgery, so this is not the final result. Swelling and bruising will change significantly as the body heals and the final contour develops over the months that follow.

Skin quality changes everything.
Neck liposuction can create a more defined jawline and neck contour by removing unwanted fat, but the result also depends heavily on skin quality and elasticity.
When skin has good elasticity, neck lipo alone may be enough for the skin to contract around the new contour. With some skin laxity, Dr. Gopal may combine liposuction with a skin-tightening treatment such as Renuvion or FaceTite. With significant laxity, a neck lift may be the more appropriate option.
That’s why evaluating the skin is an important part of determining the right approach before neck liposuction.

Liposuction can change more than the body.
I’ve watched patients become more confident, make changes in their careers, show up differently in their relationships, and start making different choices for themselves.
That’s when I know I’ve done my job well.
Because high-definition liposuction isn’t only about creating a leaner, more defined physique. Sometimes the physical transformation becomes the catalyst for changes that reach far beyond the operating room.

Male liposuction requires a different approach.
The contours that create a more feminine shape aren’t necessarily the same ones that create a strong, athletic male physique.
With male high-definition liposuction, Dr. Gopal considers how the chest, abdomen, waist, ribs and back work together—and how the underlying muscle anatomy should guide where definition and shadow are created.
That’s also why the chest matters. A highly defined abdomen and back paired with a rounder, less-defined chest can make the overall result feel out of proportion.
The goal is a cohesive, athletic contour that works with the patient’s natural anatomy.

Choosing a liposuction surgeon isn’t just about looking at before-and-afters.
Liposuction isn’t simply about removing fat. Decisions around how much to remove, which areas to treat, skin quality, post-op care and recovery can all influence the approach to your result.
How a surgeon answers these questions can tell you a lot about how they think, plan and care for their patients.

6 months post high-definition liposuction with moderate definition.
The goal wasn’t just less fat. It was a leaner, more athletic contour with visible definition through the abdomen and torso, without pushing the result to the highest level of definition.
High-definition liposuction strategically sculpts around the underlying anatomy and can be customized based on a patient’s anatomy, muscle structure, and the degree of definition they want to achieve.
For this patient, moderate definition created the balance Dr. Gopal was looking for.
Results vary by patient and depend on individual anatomy, skin quality, and treatment plan.
