How awake you are depends on the procedure. High-definition liposuction and abdominoplasty are performed in a Quad A accredited surgical facility, with high-definition liposuction done under general anesthesia. Neck and jawline contouring is shorter. It’s usually done in the office with an oral sedative and local anesthesia, through small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. The strongest candidates are at or near goal weight and holding it, training consistently, and stuck on one area that diet and exercise won’t move. For abdominoplasty, major weight changes and pregnancies should be behind you. For neck and jawline work, the skin needs reasonable elasticity, roughly skin ages 25 to 55.
Wait if you’re still losing weight or can’t commit to compression and the lymphatic visits. Also wait if an event lands before your result would have settled, which for body work means three to six months out.
The weather matters too. Compression garments stay on continuously for weeks, and a Tampa July makes that harder than a January does. Body contouring done in October or November 2026 reaches its three-to-six-month mark between January and May 2027, ahead of the heat.

Your lipo results at 2 weeks are not your final results.
