Endoscopic Gastric Balloon

Lose up to three times the weight you would lose through diet and exercise alone.
The intragastric balloon is designed to help you lose weight quickly and efficiently without permanent alteration to your anatomy. Gastric balloons have been used for over 20 years, but they have evolved considerably with increased safety and efficacy.

How Gastric Balloons Work

A soft, smooth silicone balloon is placed in your stomach under mild sedation. It is filled with saline until it is about the size of a grapefruit (450-700cc). This is performed under endoscopic visualization so that its placement and size are suitable, ensuring safe and effective results. This creates a sense of fullness allowing you to eat smaller portions. The results are dramatic and encouraging. The balloon is removed after six months or earlier if your goal is achieved, leaving no permanent change to your anatomy.

How much Weight will you lose?

In American clinical studies, ORBERA® patients dropped 21.8 pounds on average, although motivated individuals frequently shed much more weight. Typical weight loss is between 30 and 50 pounds, however, some people can even lose as much as 100 or more.

Why choose Formation?

We provide one-on-one virtual sessions through our partnership with Brooke Sobh, a South Tampa concierge registered dietician, beginning one month prior to your procedure and for two years after. In conjunction with Dr. Grandhige, she will be with you every step of the way for 24 months. The first few months are exciting as you shed weight. By using this positive momentum as motivation, you will work to embrace the lifestyle. After the balloon is removed, she will take you through her carefully monitored reverse dieting protocol, which aims to increase your metabolism and adjust calorie intake to complement your new weight. In combination with our expertise, this long-term aftercare is unique to Formation and provides our patients with the support and tools to have long-term success.
